If we hadn't lost at Ebbsfleet, October would have been really good

1040805816_Oct2029.thumb.PNG.c02d159ce0dbc951faa50b0308a05690.PNG

and that defeat sees us fall out of the playoffs, albeit with a game in hand on most teams around us

This guy is unbelievable, and not a newgen. He's the son of former footballer Alf-Inge Haland

Nailed that qualifying group.

Aldershot, Bromley and Ebbsfleet have done well to reach League One.

December was a busy month, and whilst not brilliant, wasn't awful either

586878575_Dec2029.thumb.PNG.3f80c7a9cbb4593e920a580828761216.PNG

and that sees us enter 2030 inside the playoff places

A disappointing January

and we're out of the playoffs again

1940259149_Jan2030table.thumb.PNG.28b37a987759a8f1adf7a799d5d49254.PNG

February was nearly the perfect response

89828734_Feb2030.thumb.PNG.02bf981c3af1c9fce0080b31122e2c5e.PNG

and we're back in the top 6 again

270481196_Feb2030table.thumb.PNG.7ac040f87eac719221c498985dd82555.PNG

which saw me pick up a Manager of the Month award for the first time in ages

March results, not too bad, but the last two games have left me angry (more about this later)

1158526059_Mar2030.thumb.PNG.49c272a229a3f97c85c71bd454b14ce3.PNG

and the league table looks like this

719178820_Mar2030table.thumb.PNG.193bba9a0ee0c0b7998aa809b7099f6d.PNG

So why the anger? Well, going into the Bromley game, we were in great form, morale was brilliant, and after tweaking bits of the formation all season (nothing major, just one role/duty or one instruction at a time to see it's effect), we play a Bromley side who are struggling to win games (see form above), I've kept players fresh by rotating 2-3 every game, and then this happens. Their goal was their only shot of the first half, never mind shot on target)

2013937095_Bromley2030.thumb.PNG.e59d84aabac50f19a7cf109373d09beb.PNG

I get that these things happen, freak results, bad performance etc, but why does it always happen in an on paper easy game played right before a much tougher game against a promotion rival? If that wasn't bad enough, here are the stats from that next game away to Oxford

639031358_Oxford2030.thumb.PNG.582a1e74b1e10dc208fdfc379b9ceca4.PNG

Again, we dominated, and they have won the game in the 90th minute, having had only 1 shot on target before that. So frustrating, but I'll keep going and try to secure a top 6 spot.

There was little to be frustrated about in April, as we responded to March's slip ups with five wins in six games

1081646226_April2020.thumb.PNG.fe75fd95fd10ec76b1d275ba8beb4a35.PNG

and a top 6 finish is already guaranteed, and we face already relegated Coventry at home on the final day

1333808865_April2020table.thumb.PNG.bbff3a70d95cfc58d0c902dc161bfc24.PNG

We narrowly lost the first leg of the semi final away to Hull City, but more than made up for it in the second leg at Home Park, so we're ON OUR WAY TO WEMBLEY!!!

The final was a lot tighter than I expected, and don't let the scoreline deceive you

1053310931_POF2030.thumb.PNG.1939423a3262e0f66b65f333eb26c394.PNG

Stellar stuff - good luck for the final, exciting times! :)

Thanks optimus. It's been a good season, but not a great one given that we were tipped for automatic promotion.

I pay about -90% to media predictions so on that basis alone you've done really well - especially factoring in England too! Congrats on the promotion, tough times ahead but you can do it - I'm just about to guarantee safety in my first Championship season I think so will send our 'luck shield' your way, not that it can have much left given how much we've used/abused it! :D

England head into the World Cup on the back of two really good friendly wins

1674887009_Jun2030.thumb.PNG.a4ed7fc658fe1bc7f830f8a8d2142dff.PNG

and face South Africa and Ecuador in the opening group stage

And followed that up by demolishing an Ecuador side who injured three of our players

WC30.2.thumb.PNG.8f84de414501ee1216dc02708bc63a1f.PNG

and they were as poor as the scoreline suggests

689907393_WC30.2stats.thumb.PNG.be2c5fe609e4b5fbffa1359efeadfac7.PNG

but remarkably, they qualified after beating South Africa 3-0

In the second round, we faced Tunisia

WC30.3.thumb.PNG.56b9333bfa9e2470fede616a6914c855.PNG

and, whilst we never looked like losing it, we didn't do enough to win either, so had to rely on penalties

The third round paired us with Germany, and injuries plus suspensions hit us hard as we were blown away

WC30.4.thumb.PNG.c0092a80fc769399b2e2562d288e8872.PNG

and the stats show it was a fair reflection of a one sided game

With my contract expiring at Argyle this week, and a disappointing World Cup, if I lose my England job, as stated earlier, the save will be over. If I keep my job with England, I'm going to be managing them only, and will not remain as Argyle manager. My future should be resolved fairly quickly

Our conquerors made it all the way to the final, before losing out

1386879565_Final2030.thumb.PNG.17d99a270b72cc75e811759d7fd33ef4.PNG

but will that be enough to save me from the sack and keep my career going?

Our next action was in September, with the return of the Nations League, and a fixture with an old foe

772479822_Sep2030.thumb.PNG.a89f0b890aec94e02a08364915ae678d.PNG

which left us in top spot after two games

Two more games in October, a friendly against another old rival, plus a Nations League game away from home

446521697_Oct2030.thumb.PNG.c588b14234edaaf7360943c4d1b2eabe.PNG

and the Czechs shock win over Germany means that the Germans are currently in the relegation spot

We ended the year with a routine home friendly win, plus the reverse Nations League game against the Germans

342286394_Nov2030.thumb.PNG.58156524e330dc8b0eb0c09109254432.PNG

Germany beat the Czech Republic a few days before our match, but only by 2-1 compared with their 0-2 defeat in Prague, meaning that defeat to England saw them relegated and us finish with maximum points

The draw for the Euro32 qualifying campaign has given us a tasty group. We will need to take the Nations League knockout games seriously, given that they offer a chance to qualify for the Euros and we might not win this group

The qualifiers began with two contrasting games in March in terms of standard of opponent, but similarly dominant performances in two comfortable wins

436570278_Mar2031.thumb.PNG.234b930e0550e6030aff56a6b8ee1b4a.PNG

which leaves us top of the table at the end of the first round of matches

Our next action was the Nations League semi final and final tournament, plus a friendly, in June

451196124_Jun2031.thumb.PNG.9e5d45be9e3b005e4531068a55fcc1c0.PNG

and I don't think you could argue that the win in the final was anything other than deserved, as we put in an excellent performance to seal the win

The final two games were in November, and the campaign ended unbeaten, but with a frustrating draw in the last game in Albania

509107979_Nov2031.thumb.PNG.648ae504eb0519942bf5f379706eb95f.PNG

but that was enough to top the group, and Portugal qualify thanks to our Nations League triumph
