Northernpilgrim
Hello, and welcome to my latest Football Manager Career Thread. Premise As the title suggests, I will only be managing teams in Devon. As I'm using the standard database, that means Torquay United (National League South), Exeter City (League Two), and my own club, Plymouth Argyle (League One) Manager I will be undertaking this career as myself. I have given myself a National A Licence, as that is the minimum requirement for a job in the football league. I have given myself Professional Footballer (Local) as past experience. Here I am and I'll be starting with Torquay United, as the lowest ranked of the possible teams, the ambition being to get them to at least the National League, but preferably to League Two This is the squad I inherited
Northernpilgrim
Preseason was a bit of a mixed bag, but results were generally good
Northernpilgrim
We made an unbeaten start to the season ending the month as leaders
Northernpilgrim
I've added four players since arriving. The first two were before my arrival Nathan Bishop is a goalkeeper Sam Squire is a defensive minded midfielder Connor Hunt is also a goalkeeper and Templeton is a right back, but can also play centre back
Northernpilgrim
September wasn't so good and we drop to third, a point behind surprise leaders Truro
Northernpilgrim
October results were a little disappointing and saw us lose further ground
Northernpilgrim
There were only three games in November, and we went unbeaten which lifts us into third
Northernpilgrim
December was much busier, and very nearly a perfect month although we remain third in the table, with Bath remaining top

Crispypaul
Great idea for a career If Tiverton get promoted into the National League South there's another option!

Northernpilgrim
January wasn't bad, but blowing a 2-0 lead against our tenants, Truro City, was annoying. We had a player sent off against Hemel Hempstead and we are up to second, two points adrift of Dulwich
Northernpilgrim
Two more players have been added since the August transfer update Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Luke Guttridge, who returns to one of his former clubs
Neotropolis
Good read so far! I'm following. What's your ultimate goal for this challenge? Or are you going to play until FM20? Last question, are you allowed to manage any of the English National Teams? Main, U21, U18 etc.

So therefore yes, I can manage English national teams as well.
Northernpilgrim
The following players from this year's youth intake will be offered contracts
Northernpilgrim
An unbeaten, but mildly disappointing February as we failed to capitalise on beating Dulwich Hamlet, and so go top of the table, but only on goal difference
Northernpilgrim
March wasn't great either but our rivals also faltered, so we're two points clear, with a game in hand

Northernpilgrim
Within a few days, I've been offered, and accepted, an extension to my contract. Northernpilgrim
Preseason was a bit of a mixed bag of results, but we scored a lot, which is encouraging We made three signings and released or retired several players

Northernpilgrim
Not too bad a start to the season and that leaves us just a point outside the playoffs, with survival the only objective

Was that what the board expected last season? Thanks Neotropolis The board expected us to win promotion, so a minimum of playoffs, and they were happy with the title win. They're only asking that we fight bravely against relegation this season. September update coming in a minute (already done screenshots, just need to add the text)
Northernpilgrim
Apart from defeat to Maidstone, I was very happy with September's results and they have seen us move into a playoff position. Survival remains the target until we pass 50 points (or don't)
Northernpilgrim
The Maidstone game was really, really annoying. We took the lead, but ended up losing 3-1, and they only had three shots on target, while we had 7, and the goalkeeper ratings weren't all that different
deltablue
Survival doesn't seem too tricky at the moment.

Northernpilgrim
October wasn't bad either and we're over halfway to the 50 point survival target, and in the playoffs too, despite the disappointing draw with Gateshead

Hootieleece
I'm guessing Hartlepool isn't in Devonshire. (Ignorant American of English geography even though I have a cloth map of Lancashire) Looks like your gonna need some reinforcements from Leeds...to make your title challenge. Just the 350 miles away from Devon A title challenge was never expected this season. I'd be doing cartwheels if we were 17th at Christmas, never mind 7th!! The Leeds hookup should help us push on towards the top four, if we can get some decent players from them
