**** just got real :D

Screen Shot 2019-02-16 at 23.22.41.png

EDIT: Patrick Roberts deal agreed too but to fund the massive signing on fees for these players, I've decided to cash in on Morelos. 11m from Young Boys.

His stats are quality but over my 2 seasons he just hasn't hit it off for me, Dejan Joveljic will be the main man going forward.

@Rino72. Bold move going forward - I must admit, Morelos is pretty great but he's not been as good as he was last year for me.  What tactics are you using?  Gnabry would never fit in my system.  I am no where near attracting that caliber of player, I am playing touch so no conversations to get them to enter difficult contract negotiations.

Qualified for the group stages of the CL, apparently simply by getting to the final qualifying rounds I helped boost the co-efficient so that we get 2 entries in there.  My group is ridiculous Bayern Munich, Man U and Benfica, I am scared,

Massive move to fill the gap left by Barisic, I signed Rafa Soares from Vitoria Guimares, who looks like a budget version of Barisic BUT in the last few days of the transfer window my scouts inform me that Theo Hernandez is listed at Real Madrid - he could be my left back for the next 15 years; he is pricey at £12.75m.  I may look at getting him on loan with a view to buy.  Thoughts?

Edit: I had a bid accepted of £5m upfront and £8m over 3 years but he wanted £115k per week and a £20m release fee (with 15% sell on clause), my top wage at the minute is £41k...oh well.

He was amazing on FM18 but for some reason he's struggled this year for me. I just signed a 17 year old Portuguese regen for 60k who looks like he could develop well so that will be his replacement.

At the start of the season I was experimenting with trying to fit Alena, Fleck, Xadas and Palmer in the same side so went for a 4-3-2-1/4-3-1-2. On paper it sounded good but I just didn't feel comfortable watching it play out.

After I lost 3-0 to Celtic in October I switched back to a 4-2-3-1, brought Kent back in from the cold and it has saved my season. He's been on fire and is now showing as the club's key player on the overview screen, scoring 12 goals since mid October. Will post pics of my tactics/key players when I'm back on the computer.

Congrats on making the CL btw, you'll notice a massive increase in finances and even if you can manage 2 wins like I did, that's another 4m in the bank (2m for each win). Think it's like 800k for a draw too so even that's pretty good.

Shame about Hernandez as he could just about play for any team in Europe. I've been doing a bit of scouting for when Borna eventually leaves and came across a few who look pretty decent; Josh Tymon from Stoke and Aaron Martin from Espanyol who starts on loan at Mainz. Could be worth looking into?

Check out Rafa Soares from Portugal, he will do the business.  Tymon is great but waaaay out of my range - went to Bayern for £33m in the summer.  Lost first 2 CL games, Bayern in both strangely, they both finished 1-2.

Forgot to mention - this lad, Gordon King  came through my first youth intake.

King looks quality, great decision and vision stats. Once his passing improves he will create goals left right and centre.

This is my current strongest XI:

Going back to the 4-2-3-1 means I've got quite a selection headache with a few quality players missing out (Fleck, Arfield, Xadas).

Starting to regret asking the board to make Flecks loan permanent, £6m they forked out for what will now be a rotation player due to the emergence of Alena.

Some of my best players below (unsure how to make the pics bigger);

Carles Alena - First singing I made, been on loan from Barca past 2 seasons and is developing into a real game changer.

1999824909_ScreenShot2019-02-17at11_52_53.thumb.png.7485e2335b507c1797772a01d957aaf5.png

Dejan Joveljic - £600k signing from Red Star Belgrade, top scorer with 19 goals so far although 13 of them have been in Europe.

Kasey Palmer - On loan from Chelsea, absolutely lethal from outside the box, hitting 10 goals already. Out of contract next season so hopefully will snap him up.

300574118_ScreenShot2019-02-17at12_00_02.thumb.png.6a1670f76d3dc1bf9a883ba6501ce189.png

Jeong Woo-Yeong- Another cheap signing (£650k from Bayern) A real big game player with 5 star potential, been a stand out in the CL for me this season and will only get better.

473367809_ScreenShot2019-02-17at12_01_31.thumb.png.01cce022cf7c4abeaf1c1f9fc62a5b9a.png

Ryan Kent - Already on loan at the start, renewed his deal for the 2nd season and after not playing much at the start of the season, he's now listed as the clubs key player.

995852905_ScreenShot2019-02-17at12_13_52.thumb.png.b6096f85e7abb8feb7fe620ebb5b0832.png

And now on to the players who are giving me a selection headache...

Xadas - Picked up for £800k in the first window, was superb last season hitting 20 goals but development has stalled due to Palmers form. May send him out on loan to get game time.

344168821_ScreenShot2019-02-17at12_00_56.thumb.png.dceb9b5cba63d911da07db2b4bd51a55.png

John Fleck - Home-grown and initially signed on loan at the start of the season, I asked the board to sanction a permanent deal and he was signed for £6m. Now starting to regret that move due to Alena outshining him.

1614379676_ScreenShot2019-02-17at12_11_15.thumb.png.bb679bec4f97e55597300570cc1caa47.png

Finally a few players who will become key members of the squad in the future...

Sigurd Gronli - Picked up for £300k and has spent the best 2 seasons on loan at Brann in Norway where he's been voted the player of the season and also hit double figures in goals both seasons.

1335665198_ScreenShot2019-02-17at12_17_01.thumb.png.b064927e70bf96c8c39c86be12f37aab.png

Leonardo Teixeira - My replacement for Morelos. Picked up on the cheap, he will be given as much game time as possible to maximise his 5 star potential.

What. A. Win.

Can't believe how well we've been playing recently, absolutely unreal front 3 of Kent, Malcolm & Joveljic.

Malcolm was a deadline day addition from Barca on loan, 22.5k a week wages and zero loan fee was a no brainer.

Might just be building my best ever squad with Rangers on any FM, if i can renew Malcolm's deal until the end of next season then things are looking good indeed.

Rodgers has left for Sevilla and has been replaced by Jardim, meaning there's an opportunity for me.  We got crucified for most of the CL but beat Benfica at home in our last game and qualified for the Euro Cup - our reward?  Dortmund! @Rino72. your boy Gronli is on a free this season, I need to be patient and convince him to sign.

One player I have admired from afar in this version is Sergio Gomez from Dortmund - he is available on a free this summer... My amazing DMC is wanting to move to a bigger club and won't renegotiate his contract - he has a £20.5m release clause in there - bugger! I knew i'd not have him long but forgot about that clause.  The lad is immense.

Just checked - Champions qualifier, although that may change for next year as both Celtic and us made the group stages this year

Think my transfers (incoming are done for the pre-season - I like to get things done early, unless something amazing crops up.

In came:

I will look to loan this lad out and play from next season420290922_Screenshot2019-02-18at16_30_31.thumb.png.6bb3a2c6294d3fa27a94d33cecd597cd.png

This kid will score some goals, I think the time may have come for Morelos to go: 1095247345_Screenshot2019-02-18at16_30_24.thumb.png.58991c97f13fccecd5965a38ee2131c9.png

I think I am going to convert this lad to a right back and squeeze him into my system.334091222_Screenshot2019-02-18at16_34_35.thumb.png.5a437ef9c782e6ba59bb5afd40bdb24a.png

Segio Gomes also came in, no big outs so far other than Olsen - I turned down £22m for My keeper from PSG, not because the bid was bad.  There are no keepers that are good enough or long term enough that want to come.

Scraped past AC Milan in the QF and I am writing this before facing a Real Madrid team who have drawn 3 and lost 1 all season - oh dear...

Edit: Absolutely gutted (and proud in equal measure). Lost 0-3 in Madrid, only to do this over 90 minutes of the return leg.  Like I said, gutted..

This will be a massive pre-season because I am going to look to cash in on some players and maximise some revenue to take us to the next level.  Just negotiated Gouiri to Spurs for £35m plus 30% of profit on next fee.

Had a not bad first season with Rangers,, won the Scot Cup, hammering Celtic 5-1.  Unfortunately was unlucky in the lg and lost out by 4 points.  Ultimately it was drawing both my home OF games in the end that cost us as we finished with a better goal difference.  Also got to the last 16 of the Europa cup too.

This season tho Celtic seem a lot stronger and consistent.  They knocked me out of the Lg Cup and have beaten me home and away in the lg,, although the game at Ibrox was a farce as I had 65% and most of the chances,, just couldn't get the ball over the line.  They are now 6 points ahead with a game in hand with 20 games played,,,and just not dropping any points.  They have spent big and just received another bid from Dortmund for Ajer of 18mil,, I just dont have those kind of funds.

My Transfers this season have been mainly loans,,

Loans - Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal), Harry Wilson (Liverpool), Oliver Burke (West Brom), Phil Fodden (Man City)

Ins - McGreggor retired and left me in the lurch with barely any time or money to get a replacement in,, ended up with American Keeper Ethan Horvarth (Club Brugge) 2mil.

         Andreas Poulsen LB , 4mil  (BMG) ,, Svetozar Markovic 2mil (Partizan) ,, Joel Pohjanpalo 2.1,mil (Bayer o4)

Out  - Lafferty - 2.2 mil Zurich ,, Candeias - 2.8mil Sunderland

Free - James Morrison

Having read how everyone seems to be suffering to Celtic I might for fun sake , use the Editor and give Rangers a Sugar Daddy at the end of this season .  The scenario being that a rich rangers supporting businessman steps in and takes over in order to halt Celtic from getting their 10 in a row.  Have never used the editor before but got it so I could change the strips this year, as was fed seeing us wearing all blue in Old firm games,,might as well use it lol.

Just hang in there mate, dont fiddle with the game.  I've broken their monopoly and looking strong again.  I plan on making Rangers a force in europe and then heading for pastures new

Is this solely a Rangers/Celtic thread, or is it the Scottish league thread?

I've taken Dumbarton from League One to the Premiership, it's taken until 2022 but we made it. Finished 6th in the my first season up. Gone full time which is huge.

Should be the Scottish thread to be honest, don't see why it can't be. Congrats on reaching the top :)

Have they lost Rodgers? That seems to make a big difference.....

It is interesting you mention that, he's left in my game January 2023, in a season I was winning the league he left for Sevilla and is now at Inter.  They appointed a good manager in Leonardo Jardim but are really in a hole at the minute - lying in 6th after 9 games.  The emergence of the other teams is something that is interesting. Hearts and Aberdeen are putting together decent teams and are not willing to sell cheaply either.  Stevie G took over at Hamilton and they are usually 2nd or 3rd and get a a cup final too.

Betfred Cup Final, we were winning 2 - 1 and then as per usual Lassana Coulibaly decides he's going to get himself sent off in the 66th minute to make it 3 red cards so far this season! I don't know what happened, but the flood gates opened and Morelos turned into Cristiano Ronaldo and Connor Goldson turned into Nemanja Vidic!

My current save is little Hamilton Academical. We finished 2nd in my second season, and we’re off to a good start in the Euro Cup in my third season.

The schedule is brutal with the Euro matches added! I use a team of backup players for the matches between the Euro, and it has resulted in a league match loss and a Betfred Cup match loss (just as well, I hate the moronic Betfred Cup). But the kids on the backup squad beat Livingston last time out so maybe they are maturing.

Catching Celtic may not be possible with our tiny budget (payroll is $1.45 million) but maybe a miracle will happen. Rangers are winless in 3 league matches this season and appear to be a non-factor.

Nice work with Hamilton, I was tempted to use a weaker team, but the revival of Rangers was too much of a pull. Also with the updated database I was interested to see how much I could get from Jermain Defoe.

It was a long old road :kriss:

Coincidentally it coincided with Celtic failing to win the league for the first time, Rangers now completely dominant.

Decided to let Joe Worrall terminate his loan with us. He didn't make a single appearance in over half a season, so I thought we should look to find someone to improve the squad in his place.

I decided to look to improve our midfield as central midfield seems to be our weaker point (if you can call someone averaging a 7.49 rating weak?)

I've also made an offer to buy Saido Berahino as he is transfer listed and hopefully I can develop him a bit more towards his potential and he fits perfectly to our tactic as we use two Advanced Forwards. He may even become first choice next season when Defoe's loan ends?

In steps...

Sorry Eug04 I'm in the first season :(

Currently I'm struggling massively with defenders. Currently using a central midfielder at the back because Katic is injured and a right back at left back because Barisic is injured, not looking good for the upcoming Europa League first knockout round...

I can't even seem to sign anyone, I even tried Patrice Evra and he doesn't want to know :(

I'm further than that but can do if you want @Eug04

The Brazilian lad I mentioned earlier as one that wouldn't be sticking around for long is on his way.  I have just accepted £99m (£75m upfront) from Chelsea for him.  Here's what he looks like now, he is a beast.

On another note - I have had something of a fire sale - the game was becoming a bit easy so have raised £250m in transfer funds by selling players that were getting a bit fed up at not being elite.  Got enough in reserve to do well, the problem now is that the players I identify to come and improve want massive wages, which I am not sure I want to pay to be honest.

Have any other teams been successful within Europe from Scotland on your save?

So after managing to reduce celtics lead at the top from 8 points to 3, I went into the 2nd last old firm game confident of a win. Malcolm was proving an inspired loan signing hitting 7 goals in his first 8 apps.

What do I then do going into this game? Forget to change my heavily rotated squad from the game before and leave him on the bench! Lost 1-0 too which means the league is all but over.

Did get some revenge in the Scottish Cup though, sending them out in the quarter finals so it looks like this will be my only chance of silverware after a successful first season.

Also in the quarter final of the Europa League after beating both Zenit and Salzburg 5-1 on aggregate. PSG next though so it looks like our Euro journey stops there.

Just want the season over now so I can unleash Gnabry and P Roberts.

I'm tempted to take on Falkirk and make them a force, but the posts in here are killing part of my enthusiasm.

I'd do it, they do poorly in saves I have with other Scottish sides so should provide an early challenge, potential is fairly high though, average crowds are high as it is.

Celtic and Rangers both become monsters after a few years, as they start spending incredible amounts of money. Trying to break that duopoly is a great challenge.

What. A. Win.

Can't believe how well we've been playing recently, absolutely unreal front 3 of Kent, Malcolm & Joveljic.

Malcolm was a deadline day addition from Barca on loan, 22.5k a week wages and zero loan fee was a no brainer.

Might just be building my best ever squad with Rangers on any FM, if i can renew Malcolm's deal until the end of next season then things are looking good indeed.

you should make offer till the end of next season ;) I took him that way to Valencia at start it was like almost free and I didn't had right winger so I played him there

He's definitely a level above the rest of the Scottish league that's for sure.

If I got him for next season my wing options would be outrageous - Gnabry, Patrick Robert's, Kent and Malcolm.

Joveljic and Eggestein battling it out up top too, gonna be a challenge keeping them all happy!

I had him for 2 years, from what I found out AI are accepting 2 years loans what is great, but when I wanted to extend it or loan him again later they refused all the time, so If someone is starting should get him right away for 2 years :)

My heart is broken - Gordon King, the wonder player from my first youth intake wants to move to a bigger team and will not sign a new contract, which runs out this year.  I thought a good UEFA cup run could convince him but alas no.  Looks like he is off to Dortmund for £21m +50% not bad for a final year of contract.

That's unfortunate, have you got someone to replace him? Just had my first youth intake, all look like a waste of time except a defender who might do well but far from amazing and then a striker who could possibly be a future striker for us, but definitely not at a wonderkid level potential. He's an advanced forward though which is what I use so that's a bonus I guess.
