[FM19] Every player knows pretty well that they cannot afford to go through life without goals

Alright, here we go again. Bad puns aside... Didn't really get into Foggia save, which is a shame, as i really like them. Italy didn't really appeal to me this year.

But, as i found out in a online save with my friend, England still do it for me. So, separately from that, i'll be starting another one, starting from the bottom, Vanarama North/South. It'll be a journeyman save, as i'll be jumping ships, trying to get to the top of the food chain in English football.

And since i started this thread, that mean that i'm two or more seasons in. Really didn't want to start another one if i wasn't sucked in the save. I've been saving screenshots so it's just a matter of sorting them through and posting in appropriate order.

Nice signings, Gregory looks like a good goalkeeper for his age and the 16 year old striker could develop quite well.

Gregory does looks great on paper. But he has huge issues with long shots. That and he's terrible at picking players to pass the ball to, as quite few of them got cut out and we concede sily goals. Bircham... Idk. He seems fine. Couple of red flags, lack of work ethics, not that great personality. I'll try as much as i can do develop him but won't hold my breath.

Such a nice way to wrap up February, our first undefeated month in a... Well, since i took over. Took us a while, good two or three months, but here we are, out of the dangerous zone, with a nice little cushion.

But... There's a lot of football to be played. Just as we got out, we can easily drop in. Let's keep our guard up, boys.

bottom dwellers in VNN/S are hard to turn around without winning right away. I think you are doing quite well all things being equal.

Just hope the loss to Southport doesn't ruin team morale.....losing that badly to a Ten man team can be disheartening.

Luckily, we went right back on track and few rounds later, i've got this in my inbox.

We officially survived!! So, so happy for the boys, as they kept fighting like lions, even when everything seems not to be going our way. And with that, came a reward.

I'll be staying here for another year. And i've got big plans for these guys.

I’m really enjoying reading this but...

Boston are second in the league. I am happy

Heh, fun fact, i actually started a game with The Pilgrims before this one. Sadly, two seasons in, Brexit hit, Hardest one possible and it ruined it for me. I like my English football the way it is today.

Guiseley
Season Review - 2018./19.

Vanarama National League North
Expectations: Avoid relegation
Reality: Midtable safety

It was really tough to get the ball moving. Took us two, nearly three months to get out of relegation zone. But once we were out, there wasn't going back. Oh boy, this was unique experience. Couple of games... Well, more than a couple, i was screaming at my screen, so frustrated with incompetency of my defenders. But fortunately, all ended well. We survived. I got renewed contract. And we both can look forward to the incoming season.

The Emirates FA Cup
Expectations: Reach First Round
Reality: Knocked out in Fourth Qualifying Round by Altrincham
Had no hand in this. Previous regime this was.

Buildbase FA Trophy
Expectations: Reach Second Round
Reality: Knocked out in Second Round by Wrexham
Well, i got us where board wanted us. We did lose to the Welsh but i had to rest players. We were battling relegation at that time.

Squad - Had to trim the squad down, since we had way, way too many players on our payroll. And that hit us hard, finance-wise. Core players got signed up for another year (some for two) and i'll look to add few loanees and maybe one or two new players, should our wage budget allow that. Defense will be changed up the most, since i'm not happy at all with them. Gun to my head, i would maybe, just maybe keep two of them for next season. Midfielders did great, as did strikers (well, one of them) but we do need a natural left winger.
Transfers - Last three were mine. More incoming. Found couple of nice players who were on trial with us during these months but didn't have money to sign them.
Finances - This is bad. And it just might get worse.

Key players:
Reece Thompson - Our top scorer and overall our best player. #1 on league scoring chart. But sadly, he got injured badly during match with Blyth.
Alex Purver - Invaluable presence in our midfield.
Kingsley James - Our midfield maestro. His numbers aren't as impressive as Purver's but out of the two, he's more important to us.

Plans for next season
Few new players, playoff spots and a cup run. We need that money. Any kind of money.

Another season, another year of hopes and dreams of going up for Guiseley fans. And here's a couple of new boys that'll try to make that dream a reality.

Found him in Scotland u19 side. My scouts... Ok. My scout is raving about his potential. And i'm liking what i'm seeing.

Same recipe used to grab this beauty. He was born yesterday and is already better than most of our defenders.

New winger. Or left back. Anyhow, Hill and him will be starting on our left.

Fine, young midfielder from Crewe

I really struggled to find even semi capable right back. So Moyo will sadly have to start for us in this year too and this fella is his backup

Backup winger

So, our side now looks like this.

I'm liking it. This boys might go far. Can't do worse than last year, for sure.

Short but sweet update. Didn't plan on it but we have some interesting development happening in the FA Cup.

740cb20af26f4483ec67591dc43bb20d.png

So that happened. We've eliminated L2 and L1 side and will be playing in Round 3. Sadly, it's not PL away game but it is PL side on our turf. Hopefully that bring a bit of income. Not that we're in a bad shape. Things are actually pretty good, thank to those cup wins.

One new signing. Poor Hill now can get some well deserved rest.

As for league... Still doing well. Few bad results but that had to happen, since we focused on cup games.

Barrow stole the title from under York's nose!! And York's players have no one to blame but themselves, as they drew with Merthyr in the last game.

As for us, we'll be facing Ashton Utd in our first playoff game.

We should be winning this one quite comfortably. But you never know what FM has in store for you.

Holy f***, that was unnerving. Nail-biting. Should've won this in regular time but we kept missing sitters while they ripped us apart on set pieces. I never wanted more to murder my defenders in my life. But... All is well that end well. We're promoted. That's all that matter. Well done boys. Well done.

Guiseley
Season Review - 2019./20.

Vanarama National League North
Expectations: Top half
Reality: Promoted via Playoffs

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. There were times when we were cruising the league, comfortably sitting at the top. Until Barrow and York turned on God Mode. We dropped points in games we should be easily winning and chose more difficult route toward Vanarama National League. And in the end, we got there. I've risked a lot playing backups in Ashton Utd game but that gamble paid off, as we were fresher for coming games. Don't know what else to say, perfect finish to a frustrating season.

The Emirates FA Cup
Expectations: Reach First Round
Reality: Knocked out in Third Round by Blackburn Rovers
It took a Premier League side to knock us out. Can't be unhappy with that.

Buildbase FA Trophy
Expectations: Reach Second Round
Reality: Knocked out in First Round by Kidderminster Harriers
Didn't really care for this competition this time around. We were loaded with FA Cup money, at top of the league and i wanted to keep it that way.

Squad - Many of these guys has played their last game for us. They weren't bad, far from it, but just don't fit in with type of football i'm trying to establish.
Transfers - Most of them were signed for depth but we got ourselves a future star in Hulak. Young Slovakian is developing outstandingly well.
Finances - What a different situation from one we found ourselfs into last year.

Key players:
Christian Hill - This fella run rampant down the left. What a season for him.
Reece Thompson - Top scorer once again.
Kingsley James - Main man in our midfield. We really struggled to pick up a win while he was injured on the sidelines.

Plans for next season
A little rebuild and comfortable survival. In midtable. That would be nice.

If you get a few better Defenders (Tall and good headers) and a set piece specialist (corners and freekicks 13+) your team should do well in VNL. Most of the AI teams underestimate your team during the first season after promotion. Concentrate on winning home matches.

PS Great Season but you will always wonder IF you could have been champs!

That's the plan, upgrading defense is #1 priority. Attack is working like a charm but we're leaking goals like crazy.

Two months into new season. Transfer window was gone in a flash, a lot of new players came and after a disastrous start, we started catching some W. And we are yet to stop. But, first things first.

3d05d1c2b4cf2bfa962ec1461bfdc912.png

Wasn't planning on letting Kingsley go but he started acting like a d*** when we signed Christie-Davies and i wasn't having any of that s***.

Former Wolves youngster. Fast, strong. Mentals need some work but he is here to learn.

Nearly went to Stoke. Was on trial with them but our offer was more generous. He will be vital part of our team.

Backup winger.

Rotation option. He can easily play in our first XI but i prefer to develop our own kids first.

Finally i've got a capable right back.

Purver's replacement.

Kid who got me to part with James.

7971b25adce11ca162bf6b5c708afd19.png

Right now a rotational option, but he might become good. My coaches rate him.

9c501e1b2abef10502e014a0785a3db7.png

I'm planing on pairing him with Hulak. Looks great.

And have those guys improved us?? Yeah, you can say so. Bloody brilliant football, top of the league and some truly mental games played.
