No problem - wouldn't be inclined on those to be honest.

This is one I'd say is better https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/NX.GFSEK.007-Acer-Aspire-ES1-432-P7ER_2186603.html

Slightly better processor
More RAM - better for Windows 64 bit.

Hey all,

Not very computer literate, but I would like a new laptop. I have a desktop gaming pc, but need a laptop to be able to take into work (as well as my PC being about 5 years old now!). Mainly would be used for FM, although occasionally would hop on to games like Rocket League. Potentially would be looking at running other games, although I have an Xbox also so wouldn't be a massive issue if I couldn't run high end games.

Got a budget of £700, although could stretch for more for the right deal.

Sorry if I haven't given enough detail, as I said I'm not the best with the ins and outs of laptops.

Hello,

not a new laptop just abit of a question about my current set up. The past two versions of football manager have run smoothly with a computer  performance of 5* and a decent game speed (a minimum of 3.5 stars) now I have got football manager 19 the computer performance and game speed is down at half a star could this be due to the laptop getting older or some other reason (maybe large megapacks for faces etc) I will link my current laptop and the details for the system. Any feed back would be appreciated as I would like to try and get the computer performance back up.

If this is the wrong place for this I am sorry.

HP pavilion 15 notebook PC

AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz

8gb RAM (6.94 useable)

1tb hard drive,

I think I have had the laptop since fm15 so around 4 years

is there anything else needed

If you could push to about £730, I'd go with this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C49SHVM/ref=psdc_429886031_t2_B0735FQVP6

Good processor for not only FM19, but also other games, a solid graphics card, and an SSD as well as a normal hard drive, which will help the laptop boot up faster.

The reason it's probably running slowly is because that processor is barely hitting the minimum requirements for FM19.

Thanks! It has an i5, I was always under the impression that i7 is better? If so, I would probably be able to push around £800 ish.

It's slightly more complex than that, to be honest. Most i5 processors, for single core performance (which FM relies on most), are basically identical in performance to their corresponding i7 processor, it's only for much more demanding games that are designed to use multiple cores where that may make a difference, and that i5 processor is good enough that it shouldn't be an issue unless you're wanting to stream on Twitch, etc, at the same time as playing, and I wouldn't suggest that on a laptop anyway.

If you were wanting to go to £800, i'd go with this one: https://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/asus-fx503vd-dm002t-15-6-inch-full-hd-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7-7700hq-2-8-ghz-3-8-ghz-turbo-quad-core-processor-8gb-ram-1tb-128gb-sshd-full-hd-display-1920-x-1080-resolution-backlit-keyboard-windows-10-home-90nr0gn1-m01840-41984.html?___SID=U

Basically the same specs otherwise, but with an i7 rather than an i5.

Awesome, thanks for you help! I'm thinking in terms of longevity would an i7 be better?

And how would this be for comparison? https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-16R112-255-MSI-GF63-8RC-255UK_2410406.html#DetailTop

Hadn't spotted that one, I'd go for that - newer i7 processor, and better graphics card.

Not a massive laptop person but I’ve decided after Xmas I’m going to look to upgrade.

A budget I have in mind is around £750. I already have a Mac for everyday tasks so this would be dedicated to football manager and the graphics packs needed.

I have found a selection out of these what would be recommendable to lump for. Think I will save this laptop for the next 3/4 years I believe.

Thanks, that seems to be the consensus best value for money. In your experience do you think it would go cheaper after Christmas? Obviously it's a bit of a silly question because you can't predict the future, but I've never really paid attention to laptop prices on sale. I'm assuming probably not because it's already reduced.

Hello. I want to buy a new PC (or laptop, but pc will be cheaper) for playing fm2019 and the newer versions that will be after it. Fm20,21. I want to play them on a good speed. May be load leagues for a jorneyman save 4-5-6 1st divisions + 2nd divisions and lower levels. My budget is not specified , but i will be glad if its around 1000$-1500$ max ( i can afford more , but better not). And yeah first i want to see possible pc variants and then laptop variants. Thanks in advance and happy holidays :)

Being a bit naive on the whole laptop and technology side of things thought I would seek some advice.

Haven't had an FM since 2014 and haven't had a laptop since then either.

Happy just playing English leagues down to National N/S, would open up the opportunity to play some other big European countries too but my budget isn't great.

Looking at where possible keeping costs to below £450.

Any advice much appreciated.

Hey guys, I would like to build a PC for FM19 and onwards. I will only play FM on it because I use my PS4  Pro for everything else. In order to spend as little as possible, I have been looking at the AMD Ryzen 2400G because it has pretty good integrated graphics. I will play FM in 3d, so for me its really important that the graphics card / APU can handle 3D match engine flawlesly (no stutters). I am asking those of you who might have experienced this APU if it's going to be good enough to run FM19 + in 3d ? Thanks

Historically the AMD APU's haven't been that strong, but it does come with the Vega chip set. In terms of FM that should be fine. 3D support is something this game is miles, and I means miles behind. In terms of the APU, it matters little, this game is referenced for the low end. Tbh, the graphical capabilities of this game are architecturally pretty low standard, so my graphics card do much more tbh.

Look for a strong CPU, the amount of leagues has no Bering on graphics, or anything else tbh. The amount of leagues that can be processed, is off set by the amount of DRAM to take the load of the CPU. Would be a stretch for 450. In fact, don't do it fella, save up for a bit more. Everything at that price would be value only, and in the long run it is not worth it. Cheap lappys are what they are, cheap.. What you want is a semblance of quality, not cheap **** for the sake of playing this game, FM19 seriously isn't worth it :)

You pretty much won't be able to get a laptop that'll run FM19 really for less than £600. You might get one that will just about run it, but not with more than 1-2 countries, and it'd basically barely be able to run the 3D match engine.

On the previous topic which has since been locked due to this new one i stated that my budget was £500-600.

Smurf kindly showed me 2 laptops, as below

I haven't managed to grab one yet as since black friday prices were all over the place and i was kinda thinking maybe in January they'll all take a dip again.

The first link is now 899, which shows since Smurf posted it it's gone up about 300 quid.

The 2nd link is only 479.98, would anyone be able to tell me if the 2 laptops below are really much different?

If the differents in regards to FM is only minimal i may aswell go for the cheaper option

I tend to use this website to look at processors - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html

The CPU listed in that Acer above is ranked 278th - I think you may be able to find better, but would need to consider whether you wanted an SSD or not. The integrated GPU is an okay one, but isn't dedicated or course. Just things to consider.

I wouldn't go with the second one, it wouldn't run FM well at all.

If you wanted something that would run it well, and would only be £50 more than your £600 budget, I'd go with this one: https://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/hp-omen-15-ce001na-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i5-7300hq-2-5-ghz-3-5-ghz-turbo-quad-core-processor-8gb-ram-1tb-128gb-sshd-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-2gb-gddr5-dedicated-graphics-windows-10-home-64-bit-1rj98ea-abu.html?___SID=U

Good processor, dedicated graphics card, decent storage space and 8GB RAM.

an SSD will help with loading times, but as to the game itself it is pretty much minimum gains. Tbh, as long as the integrated gfx run the minimum (IE comment mode, which itself has some flaws) , the game will run fine. Extra processing grunt will help, as this game is pretty much a bunch of spread sheets, but the game is not all that. So yes, any cheaper option on hardware may well suit your needs. The game is very simplistic and hasn't improved over the years. Simple game fella.

Which are things not that make much difference. Yes you are right on the integrated graphics, any dedicated graphics would be a poor return on this game. This game wouldn't stretch an old 6600GT on processing GPU power. As Smurf says, the SSD doesn't gain any returns in the game, so the question remains, will FM ever stretch the modern hardware, no of course it won't. So stop with the rubbish on dedicated graphics, this game doesn't even stretch any post 6800. I like your skin, but the same old SI corporate bollocks. No personal offensive intended.

Just to add, all it takes is a little research and just check Intel and AMD for any info on CPU info on recommended minimum specs for this game. It i easy to cross reference any codenames etc, while using notepad to copy any CPU models. Seriously, even if you are not up on current tech, it is really quite easy.

More than enough for FM mate. You could run every league with that setup. For the first time I'm going to build a PC and it has similar specs to yours. How much is this costing you? As building it yourself can save you some money. Apparently it's very easy to build a PC nowadays, just like Lego.
