Thanks for the suggestion but I agree with @kevhamster

I will definitely only be playing FM as I do all my other gaming on my PS4 Pro and then the PS5.

Part of me thinks I should go for a 1660 or the Vega 56 to be on the safe side but the RX 580 4GB is probably already plenty for FM and another few versions after those?

Assuming there's no huge increase in requirements, then yes.

@14Benji

Thank you so much, I have never researched so much FM in my life! I think I am leaning towards the one that you have purchased so look forward to hearing your feedback :)

After playing FM over the last week with the new laptop ive been hugely impressed with it. Might be the fact mine was that bad at running the game before but the game loads up so much quicker and runs like a dream. Time will tell after afews season how it performs but i have half a dozen countries loaded with all the leagues and isnt having an issue.

My only worry is the heat and power consumption from the RX cards, been looking at the 1650 Super but it's £30 more for almost identical performance. Still considering going for a stronger card but I really should settle for the RX 580, even if I have to upgrade it in a year or two.

He's talking about windows 10s ... and yeah he's correct, it will only run apps directly from the app store..

Ah.... apologies.  Must admit, I'd not heard of 10S, and so missed that entirely.

Probably explains why it's as cheap as it is.  Apologies @footballguy5566.

In that case, for the £350 you've linked machines at, the best one I can find with a quick look is:

https://www.box.co.uk/NX.EFREK.014-Acer-Extensa-15_2612001.html

It won't be quite as good in terms of the graphics (most likely up to medium settings for the 3D match engine), but it will be just as good as the Ryzen 5 in terms of processing speeds  (and very possibly even a bit quicker).

Too lazy to look up his requirements, but he can upgrade 10s for 40 quid or so to fully functional windows 10 pro

No worries, still good to know!

And thanks for pointing out my error - every day's a school day as they say!!  I wouldn't want to misadvise someone, so I'm glad you stepped in. :)

I've probably got a budget of £1k ish all in for a 'gaming' pc. Not expecting miracles but some solid gameplay across a few titles and mainly FM

Any ideas because I'm absolutely stuck on where to look.

Depends, do you think you could build one yourself? As that's the cheapest way. Otherwise you should probably get some company like PC Specialist to build one for you.

Fwiw, I will be attempting my first ever build purely for FM on Friday! It's apparently pretty easy, like grown up lego, lol.

If you have any further questions regarding a gaming desktop then fire away, you will definitely receive the advice you need in here.

Back when I was 19/20 I definitely could have. But now I couldnt e en build normal Lego!

It's more the parts these days that get me. Its just knowing the best parts to get, seems to change vastly in a few years. PC specialist was definitely the place I was looking at but just didnt know what type of machine to go for. I think pre built machines from stores just take your eyes out too.

I imagine it will, but it is likely to be pretty slow and I don't imagine it would run the 3D match engine particularly well.

Any decent ideas for a all in one pc for around £500, just looking there they seem a tad more appealing.

Not for £500 or less to be honest.  On Currys at least, not looked on other site.

The best one I can find even near to that is this one, which is £569.

I certainly wouldn't call it a major upgrade.  Based on the benchmarking sites, the Intel in the all-in-one has better single-core performance, but for complete overall performance the Ryzen 5 in the laptop actually scores slightly better.  What this suggests, in theory, is that the Intel would likely be marginally faster for FM as that processes mostly in single core, but for overall computer performance the Ryzen 5 is a little stronger.

In addition, the Ryzen has stronger integrated graphics than the Intel, so should be able to play 3D at higher settings.

The laptop runs on a solid state drive, which will also add to the speed of overall performance, albeit at the cost of storage space (the laptop has a 256GB SSD, the all-in-one has a 2TB hard disc drive).

The flip side is that the all-in-one obviously has a considerably larger display, as well as considerably more storage space.

So, there are pro's and con's to both - ultimately both will be able to play FM at a decent speed, but it would be your decision as to what part of the system you want to compromise on.

Personally, if you're thinking of an all-in-one, therefore being tied to a desk so to speak, I think you'd be better off looking at getting a full-on desktop PC, especially as this will have more flexibility of potentially upgrading components further on down the line.

How would something like this look? In terms of fm and other general gaming?

I wouldnt go for that SSD. Search for a better one.

Change the video card with Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB PULSE Video Card  and you are fine

Would this one be better than my previous...

Amd ryzen 5 3600x six core cpu

Asus tuf x470 ddr4 6gb/s

16gb corsair ddr4 3600mhz

6gb nvidia geforce rtx 2060

120gb adata su650 2.5" ssd

2tb Seagate barracuda data 7200rpm

How does that look? Toying with maybe the 8gb 2060 super nividia geforce rtx or maybe a higher ssd. Thoughts?

It only barely hits the minimum specs, so it might, but likely not well. That laptop isn't designed for processor intensive games at all. What budget do you have to work with?

What games will you be playing? More than just FM I'm guessing considering the GPU's you are looking at?

I would have went for a better GPU but it's really pointless when the only PC game I play is FM. I'll be trying to build mine tomorrow for the first time, hopefully it's not to difficult!

Planning on extending my pc gaming tbh. This is the kinda build I've been recommended... would be interested to see what more clued up people think though rather than me.

You do not need the X version of the Ryzen 5 3600. With that budget I'd go for 3200mhz RAM.

With that SSD you can store just 2 new games at once so go for good 500 GB SSD + 1TB HDD if you want space.

I advice you to look again at this build I suggested -

Cut from the power supply if you want and go for 550W while going for 3200mhz ram instead of 3000.

RAM is cheap part so you can change it later in the future if you want.

As for the video GIGABYTE RADEON RX 5700 XT GAMING OC or that RTX 2070 I suggested.

Hi all

I am looking to update my current laptop so I can enjoy FM0 at the highest quality I can.

I am looking to pay up to the £600 ish mark if I can.

I don't play other games but I do multi task a lot and stream a lot of movies, sports etc.

My current laptop runs quite hot and the fan is really noisy.

Ideally i would like a gaming laptop that runs quiet when playing FM20, I would like to play everything in FM20 at the max, leagues, database, graphics etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's black friday today, has anyone seen any deals?

I have seen a few and these ones has stood out so far.

I'd second Smurf and say your original configuration is absolutely fine.  This one doesn't look as strong.

Those appear to be largely identical, aside from the storage.... and the first one is actually out of stock.

But these will be absolutely fine for what you're looking to do.

Cheers, just seen I could pick up an OMEN by HP 15-dc0001na Gaming Laptop - NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 for just over £700. I am so tempted by this.  What do you think?

That seems to be the same graphics card as the one in Argos.

If you send the link, I can take a look but I suspect it's not worth dropping an extra £100 on.

The one in the HP store has a weaker CPU and exactly the same graphics card.

If you bought the HP, you'd be paying an extra £120 for a lower spec laptop!

EDIT:  The graphics card actually seems to be weaker on the HP as well.  They both have the same model number, but the Argos one says 3GB VRAM, and the HP one says 2GB!

Also its important its future proofed for at least a few more years of FM

Yes, it will.

Assuming FM's specs stay similar it should do, but I can't guarantee this obviously as I wouldn't know  what the system requirements would be even for next year's game.

Any decent deals out there for a new laptop for FM20, I'm not particularly computer literate, other than knowing that my current one is grinding to a halt!

Short search and this looks decent - but may not be at that price?
