Price range is 600-700 euro

i like to play with large database and majority of European leagues playable along with Brazil Argentina Mexico USA China

I no price range might not be enough but what would be the best I could do laptop wise. No interest in graphics as I play with 2 d classic. Will only use for mainly fm, and occasionally watch Netflix or stream matches of sky go if that helps.

Thanks

Hi @Smurf and @JordanMillward_1 I'm looking for the best laptop that I can get for under £800. Looking to use it for FM, some work and netflix.

https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-16R112-254-MSI-GF63-8RD-254UK_2410405.html

https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/30026124-Medion-Erazer-P6705_2614018.html

I have found these two laptops which are around my price range. Will the geoforce gtx 1050ti be good enough to run FM19? Also if you can find something better (if they are good) for a similar price can you please try? I am based in London if that helps. I am looking to upgrade the ram to 16gb later on as I would like to keep the laptop in that £700-800 range. The battery life states on the P6705 laptop that it lasts for up to 5-6 hours is that the bare minimum usage or would it last for that long playing FM for example?

Thanks for any help.

Whereas they are fine and no problem whatsoever - the below is ok and a bit better too - it has a slightly better graphics card.

https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/30026173-Medion-Erazer-X6807_2644700.html

However, I think either of the ones you selected will be just fine for FM - the graphics card will be fine.

The difference being the processor is 1060 in the one I have linked, it's just a step up, but the processor is not as good as the one you have linked.

Eventually the battery life will reduce after a larger number of full discharge / recharge cycles - around 500 subject to specific manufacturer

Personally I always have my PCs and laptops specifically configured to what I want using PC Specialist who build the machines based on your specific selection of components. I'm on my 4th PC from them. Often the options in many high street shops and internet retailers can be restrictive

The graphics card isn't too much of a concern for me. The main things I'm looking for are the battery life and performance in terms of speed. https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/5WA67EAABU-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-cx0018na_2453614.html Do you think this laptop is worth the step up in price for the battery life, RAM, and graphics card?

That's exactly the same one I came up with - I didn't click your link - I was just searching before looking at what you found.

I'd go with that.

This what I'm contemplating getting. However the review says it gets hot quickly, and the hinge is in a weird place so I'm in 2 minds. I don't know whether to get a i7-8750H with 1050 or 1060 graphics card. I'm not too fussed about 3d. Much prefer 2d and longevity in my saves and the laptop being future proof

Yup same concerns here. I've had enough of laptops overheating pretty quickly.

Do you think that the HP pavilion laptop would overheat playing FM? That is the only game I would be playing.

The review said it does have a tendency to over heat. But for the price and 16gb ram I'm very tempted

I just read through a review and it says that the battery life whilst gaming is only 1 hour and a half. Is FM a heavy game that would lead to a shorter battery life like that?

It'll play FM19 (obviously can't say about FM20 yet until requirements are released), but the processor isn't the best - the U after it means "ultra low power", so it'll consume less power and likely run for longer on a battery charge, but it has a lower processor speed because of that.

How much is your budget? We can see if we can find something better for the price.

Wow I didn't read that bit. FM sure isn't a game that will sap battery life.

I've just seen this go back down to£900 as this was my initial choice

https://www.box.co.uk/30025007-Medion-Erazer-X6805_2431524.html

However I've seen an Asus laptop with a 17.3 inch screen with the same specs and same price. So not sure what to do. Will have to decide today tho so can get it delivered tomorrow

I see I 've read a few reviews this morning

https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15t-i7-8750H-GTX-1060-3-GB-Laptop-Review.328820.0.html

It basically says when the GPU and CPU are used together, but for FM the processing is done separately, and you can watch a match in 3D - there probably wouldn't be that much processing going on during a match.

There's tips in there for being able to add thermal paste to the heat pipes - which is handy.

If you're not comfortable doing that then your local PC fixer can.

I'm unsure which of these 3 to get, what would you recommend Smurf. All same specs bar the HP with 16gb ram but the hinge and overheating concerns me, and the Asus has a bigger screen. Main thing is that it'll run for a long number of seasons and can run the next few editions of FM

https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/30025007-Medion-Erazer-X6805_2431524.html

I am leaning toward the Medion. Based on reviews this seems the better value of the 3, however the larger ram on the HP and bigger screen on the Asus are making me not too sure.

@yj2507 Have you bought your new laptop yet?

Thanks mate, but I’m from Denmark, and I think it’ll be a bit harder for you finding a pc on the danish market in my price range.

It's hard to say what processor would be better without knowing your budget - we could say the i7-8750H or i5-8300H, as they're great Intel processors (and Intel processors tend to be better with single-core speeds, which is important for FM), but if your budget is only €400, you won't be getting a laptop with a processor that good, because you'd be looking at a minimum of €600 or so for a laptop with a higher quality processor.

Further to Jordan's advice, the higher up these lists the better it will be for FM.

Make sure the base speed is at least 2.2ghz - for example the the i5 8500T is high up on the list, but the base speed is 2100 (or 2.1ghz).

Check against both links for cross reference.

I'd go with this one out of all of them, as it has the better processor. https://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/hp-pavilion-14-bf054sa-14-full-hd-laptop-intel-core-i7-7500u-2-7-ghz-3-5-ghz-turbo-processor-nvidia-geforce-940mx-2gb-gddr5-dedicated-graphics-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-windows-10-home-64-bit-1zl49ea-abu-35417.html

However, if you can afford an extra £50, you could get this one, which has a MUCH better processor that's a model better designed for gaming loads (like FM) - https://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/asus-tuf-fx504gd-e4603t-15-6-full-hd-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-8300h-8gb-ram-1tb-hdd-16gb-optane-memory-nvidia-1050-2gb-graphics-backlit-keyboard-windows-10-90nr00j1-m10320-43986.html?___SID=U

The one you recommend has 16GB ram, the one i'm thinking about 20gb ram  . Does the RAM makes no difference at all (for FM) ?

8gb would be the minimum - 16gb would be plenty for anyone.

20gb is more - but how much of an impact would it have? Not much I would say.

They main thing here is the processor - you are getting a much better processor; and secondly, a much better graphics card.

You can always add more RAM later on down the road - but there is absolutely no way you can upgrade the processor or the graphics card.

Would a workstation with two 6-core Intel xeon 56xx be good value for money?

Best value for money would be a processor with at least 2.2ghz base speed and also good in single core.

The higher on these lists the better for fm

Thank you for the links. I guess I'll stick with the "usual suspects" (i7s) instead of going fancy with older workstations...

i5's or even i3's would save you a few quid too. But of course, i7 is a bit better.

Hi there! I’m looking to buy a new laptop purely to run FM20 on. Want it to run smoothly and able to handle the matches on 3D. Would only want to run about 6-7 leagues in one save. My price range is between £500 and £1000 but it if I could get something around £800 to the job I would be happy!
