Just holidayed a week in between matches - I had no bids in or anything so felt i could.  Came back and my ****ing DoF has accepted a loan with mandatory fee for Max Aarons of £60m - grrrr

@Geordieboy52 did you not select "reject all offers"? Or do you let your DoF handle bids? Also is Aarons not just the greatest?

Dan-Axel Zagadou was promised to play cup games. He played every cup game we had (up to semis in both cups, when we were knocked out) but its wasn't enough, so I started him 3/4 the last league games and also subbed him on in the CL final. He was happy. 8 days later he asked to leave because I'd broken a promise to him. Unless he submits a transfer request he's staying, but its infuriating as I literally did exactly what I was supposed to do to satisfy the promise.

@zlataneraI'm sure I did but hey hoy live and learn.  It gives me a chance a right back from my first youth intake who should go on to be a club icon.  Totally agree, Aarons is incredible, really well-covered skill set makes him a beast.

Also, managed to win the double! Woop.  Bit pissed off though cos I've not even been shortlisted for manager of the year :(

Weekly save over 3 different files. We all learn the hard way

I normally have two-weekly over 10. Just because of the latest Mac update making FM go slow, I'd re-installed FM to see if that worked and it didn't, but what it did do was reset that setting. At least I hadn't actually done that many transfers, repeat crashes on my Freiburg save where I had about 150 players on the books (going for rapid financial improvement through snapping up a bunch of cheap Eastern Europeans and loaning them out for fees) killed that save for me.

I'm going to experiment a bit more with retraining players compared to what I normally do.

This guy came from Auxerre, a winger with 2 Flair is going to be hopeless against the massed defences I'll be facing due to my increase in reputation after the CL win, but he'll make a solid CWB with a bit of training.

Similarly Mermillod, from our academy, has the makings of a solid right back (but starts with a pretty horrendous CA)

I had been using Houssem Aouar as the most advanced midfielder in my midfield three as CM-At with "Dribble More", "Take More Risks", and "Move Into Channels" to imitate a Shadow Striker. As that's very similar to a Mezzala I decided to switch to that to see how he performs (never really used the role in my own self-made tactics).

These last two are already established in my team having been rotational options but have now been loaned out for key player experience.  they have French caps because I am the France manager and I just can, can't I

Things are starting to get a bit easy so I think I am going to 'pull an Ajax' over the summer and ship out some of my top talent to makeway for the next wave of younsters through the academy.  I may be brutal and look to  ship anyone over the age of 28 or 29, which would mean club stalwarts like Aouar, Romero, Diallo, Zaniolo and Gouri (all regulary starters or rotated options) would go...

Currently towards the end of my first season with Lyon.

Won the first 20 (YES 20!) games of the season, until we lost 2-1 away to St Etienne. Got to the first knockout round of the Champs League getting through our group which contained Dortmund and Atletico, only to get knocked out by Man United 4-3 on aggregate after winning the first leg 2-0 at home.

I've only made minor changes to the squad. I sold Morel, Tete and Cornet and in January signed Kamara from Marseille, Pavon from Boca, Cabaye on a free for his experience and Origi on loan for cover. Also completed deals for Almada from Velez and Palacios from River in the summer.

8 games left to go in the league and we're 9 points clear. Most players are playing out of their skins, though Mousa Dembele chucked his toys out of the pram when I priced him out of a move to PSG after they tried to sign him a week before we played them! As we've qualified for the CL now, we've been given a £40 budget - I'm happy with the squad so I'll sign a couple of defenders to replace Rafael and some young players when the season's over.
