Back again with the squad update for the upcoming season in Serie B with F.C. Südtirol. It's now one week before the summer transfer window closes and barring any major injuries I've managed get all the necessary signings in. We've managed to clear out a lot of the deadwood by releasing nine players including our "team leader" and captain from last season Filippo Liberati. As for transfers in, well I'll just show you...

Transfers-In.png

It's been a very productive window and as you can see we brought in the players that were needed to bolster the squad, all on free transfers or on loan as we're still not in the best position financially. Again I'll be setting the team up in the same 4-4-2 that won us promotion, with just a few tactical tweaks to hopefully improve on certain areas from last season. So this is our starting-eleven for the season...

One of our new signings and new number one David Paiva who is a massive upgrade on Giuseppe Alberti (our number one from last season).

1-GK-David-Paiva.png

The new look defensive line. Our LB Lamine Niang was on loan with us last season and was voted by fans as player of the season, so I extended his loan deal. Then we have Agnaldo who you've already seen and Leonardo Parente who was released by Serie C side Cittadella. Finally Marco Moras who again like Agnaldo you've already seen. Overall it's a massive improvement from our defence of last season, so hopefully they can steer us clear from relegation.

2-LB-Lamine-Niang.png3-CB-Agnaldo.png4-CB-Leonardo-Parente.png5-RB-Marco-Moras.png

Now on to our midfield and not a lot of activity here as it's exactly the same as our starting midfield from last season. I managed to get our main man Erik Karlsson back in on loan from Atalanta who is currently 9-1 for the top player award. Our successful midfield pairing of Lenzi and Viola remains intact, and Longo stays in as our starting right-sided winger.

6-LM-Erik-Karlsson.png7-CM-Daniele-Lenzi.png8-CM-Elia-Viola.png9-RM-Andrea-Longo.png

Last but not least our main forward partnership. Now this is the area of the squad I wanted to improve on the most as (obviously) goals win games. Also I felt that although we won the league last season our strikers often tended to squander some good chances, so games that we should've won 4-0 only ended in a 1-0 or 2-0 win. So up first we have Kérdson brought in on a free from Estoril Praia who will be utilised as an attacking pressing forward, overall a well balanced player and it helps that he's fluent in Italian. Then there's Francesco Andreoli another player on loan from Atalanta, a whole host of Serie B teams were in for him but for some reason he chose us. They've both had a good pre-season so hopefully that form continues into the actual season and they come up big when needed.

10-ST-K-rdson.png11-ST-Francesco-Andreoli.png

As for the rest of the squad it's mainly made up of players that were with us last season who can do a job as backups, loanees and a few of our most promising youth players. Unfortunately Claudio Bravo who is backup to Viola has suffered a hip injury and has been sent to a specialist meaning he'll be out for 3 months, so I've brought in a temporary loanee from Fiorentina until the winter transfer window.

So that's the starting eleven for our debut season in Serie B. Hopefully it all works out and we avoid the drop. Early signs are good as we managed a comfortable 2-0 away win against Serie A side Frosinone in the third round of the Coppa Italia. It was clear from the start of the match that Frosinone were (understandably) targeting Erik Karlsson, closing him down at every opportunity, but that left space for Longo on our right-side which he capitalised on by providing both of the assists for our goals. Anyway until next time.

I'll certainly take that in my first season on FM19. Ultimatley, we could have finished in the top 4, in April and May we had some terrible results such as 0-0 with Chievo, Cagliari and Sampdoria as well as 1-1's with Sassuolo, Spal to the positives and know we can reach the Champions League places if we improve a small amount.

My shot analysis against Chievo, not quite sure how we didn't score!

In my off season I have plenty of work to do, I think keeping hold of Simeone and Chiesa will be where I start. Simeone's contract still has a €24m release clause for Champions League clubs, best try and get rid of that. Liverpool are sniffing around Chiesa. I also need to replace Muriel who heads back to Sevilla after his loan, there's also 3/4 other loan players returning to their parent clubs while I have 42 players returning back to Florence. There's alot of work sorting that lot out.

One last thing to note, we welcome two signings in January. Erik Majetschak agreed a bosman deal but I was  offered the chance to sign him in January for €150k which I thought was a nice touch. I snapped their hand off and got him to the club ASAP to train him how I want to. Anthony Anglieri also joined the club. He made the €800k switch from Palermo. Both of them had a big say in our U20s team winning the league and then beating Juventus and AC Milan in the semi and final. Our U18s also won the league and beat Inter in the semi finals but fell short of taking the trophy home when Juventus beat them on penalties in the final. The future looks bright for sure.

Hi, everyone.

Just got the game (full version, been playing the mobile version since launched). Started with Parma and enjoying the game. Have first transfer window disabled.

Now, I'm trying to get my head around the non-EU rules for Italy. Parma already have two non-EU registered (Gervinho and Brazao). I'm planning to buy Coetze. Should I bring him to Italy in January and wait until next season to register him (without having to sell Gervinho and Brazao next season)? Or is it better to buy him in January but set the transfer to the end of the season (so that he counts as one of the 2 signings allowed next season?)?

This is where I'm confused.

Thanks for your time and help!

Either way you do it you won't be able to register him until next season, and that's when he'll count against your allowance.

Probably best to arrange it in January for him to arrive in summer, so that he doesn't just spend 6 months not getting match fitness (and therefore not developing).

Thanks both for getting back to me.

The reason I'm asking is, as I'm re-reading the rules again, if I have 3 by 30th June 2019 (Gervinho, Brazao, Coetze), I can buy 2 more next transfer window (1 can only be registered depending on their national call ups or u21 caps) and if I say to sell Gervinho during the summer, that means 2019/2020 season I can register 4 non-EU players for Serie A? (Brazao, Coetze, + 2 new summer signings, - Gervinho).

Is my understanding correct?

Whereas if Coetze arrived in the summer, I can only buy another one non-EU and I have to sell, say, Gervinho, to register him. This means I can register 3 non-EU players (Brazao, summer Coetze, + 1 new summer signing, - Gervinho).

Again, this is correct?

The first option is better if Coetze can play in the u20s or loaned out until the summer in order to get that potentially extra non-EU player next season. If Coetze can't do either of those, he is better coming in the summer to keep his fitness and potential but missing one more potential new non-EU signing.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.

Let's see. If you buy him during the first season, he will play no match whatsoever at any level for you. You can A loan him to a foreign team who can play him, and B loan him to an italian SERIE A team who will register him with their spot in that way. But it's a gamble, if you don't manage to loan him, you will not be able to register him in any squad, or play any competitive or non competitive match, and he may get angry at you for this (they seem to not understand or care about the rules). So your safe bet is to register him next season, in your spot. Also next season you can register 2 only if you sell 1 OUTSIDE OF ITALY or release on a free.

You will not get extra spots other than the 1-2 given by selling or releasing any player.

TL;DR safe bet is arrange for next season. Risky one get him now but you MUST loan him or it's one whole year where he will not play any whatsoever match, even friendles. It's a gamble.

So, regardless of new signings, non-EU players are only 2 per season? I thought you can accumulate them each season (2 in the first season, 4 in the 2nd season and so on). If that is not the case, things are simpler then haha!

no, not regardles to signing. You can have as many as you want in your team. It's all about signing. You can sign only 1 per season. A second is allowed if you sell or release one you already own.

So this just happened in the first-round of the Coppa Italia...

Coppa-Italia-First-Round-Against-Napoli.

We definitely rode our luck at times but managed a 2-0 away win against our senior affiliate Napoli! In the 79th minute Napoli gifted us a penalty which was comfortably slotted away, and then in the 89th minute we won a free-kick which was headed in by our main man Erik Karlsson. But the even better news is we might actually have a decent shot of reaching the semi-finals after we were drawn at home against newly promoted Serie A side Perugia in the quarter-finals.

My biggest problem here was the defense. It was a shame to see that Luca Pellegrini was loaned out. I was planning on using him as my first-choice left back. He's at least getting game time, so I use Kolarov as my first choice until next season. The right-back is filled out well, but the centre backs. Oh boy, the centre backs. The only one that's good enough is Manolas, put bluntly. Fazio is good, but too slow and Jesus mentally isn't as solid as I'd like

So what do you do? You sell Fazio and Jesus and attempt to retrain N'Zonzi, one of your better midfielders, as a centre back. It'll be hard, btu I hope it will work out.

To replace Jesus and Fazio, I managed to get in Romagna, who's still able to develop. The ultimate goal would be the return of Romagnoli. That'll be difficult first season though, but I'll at least try in january or season 2 should I choose Roma.

As far as my GK went, Olsen is decent, but I still went in and got Plizzari on loan for 2 seasons with a 15 million euros optional future fee. Planning on using him as my first GK and develop him. Should he develop, I'll be able to get a good Italian goalkeeper for only 15 million euros, that will also end up being homegrown! A risk, but I'd rather use him and potentially get in a couple of more goals, but a better goalkeeper long-term.

My midfield is loaded. And yet, I decided to get in a new midfielder. De Rossi is getting on thus I decided to get in Tonali in to replace him long-term. Not sure if I'd start him over De Rossi, cause I feel it would be disrespectful towards someone who means so much to the club and vice versa. Other than that, nothing to worry about or improve.

Took over Roma in January 2019. Really struggled defensively too if the bounce. I got rid of Jesus (in summer) and Fazio (in January). Brought in Kabak from Stuttgart and Mangala on free. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Marcona. I’ve tried to find anyone to pair with Monalos but he’s been most consistent while we keep working on Kabak (who’s played well when give a shot too).

de Rossi was mad when I arrived and despite me fulfilling a promise to play him more regularly remained mad at club until he walked away. Shame, as a club legend, but I did try.

Olsen actually done pretty well for me. I’ve been scouting for a replacement since first day on job, but other holes in team seemed more pressing. Maybe I’ll make a move in January 2020.

I'm playing as AS Roma on a save that I created just for fun, or so it started at least. Currently sitting first in the league in February and we look unstoppable at times. But seriously, how good is Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini really?! They have been immense for me. Scoring screamers every other week and Nzonzi/Cristante can't even get near them. Honorable shout to Florenzi as well who's also been fantastic. I really like this squad :)

Cristante has been good for me too. Quite a good, young, Italian core

Managing Roma and those are probably 4 of my top targets to have by the start of 2nd season (I need two RBs as I plan to move Florenzi forwards, he's wasted at right back unless you use him like Dani Alves under Pep.

Anyone else managing Roma, what are the finances like in terms of transfer budget, percentage of transfer revenue? I'm not hopeful looking at those debts.

I took over in January 2018. Finished 4th (from 8th) and my debts were cleared that summer. So many returning players on loan combined with some dead weight that is expendable makes it hard to get a clear picture on finances. I’ll be in my third window shortly and still sorting through bloated roster.

Go for Scuffet from Udinese, he is just fantastic the way he performs. He has weel spread attributes for a goalkeeper and can get a little better. I got him for 10 mln at Ajax when i got a 30 mln offer for Onana

I went ahead and purchased Onana as he had release clause making him far and away cheapest option. Dortmund hurries my efforts with a offer. Had planned on waiting until summer to ditch Olsen (he ended up in Ajax).

Pretty shocked how the season going so far, made few tweaks to the tactic and working brilliantly so far. Draw to our Europa League group was pretty kind to us, as we got Strasbourg in 1st knockout round, which I am pretty happy with.

Coppa Italia - we was bloody awful and deserved to go out in the end.

Got couple players leaving in January as I am looking to promote few youth players up or sign few experienced players for mentoring purpose.

Andrea Belotti, is being chased by top clubs and got few news saying Real Madrid scout spotted at our games, I am not going to sell him unless they match his minimum release clause which is set at 90M. He have been good so far and haven't been upset when we turned down low offers for him.

Just done the double over Juventus  Xadas was immense, just came back from few weeks out and coming back with man of the match performance :applause:

Brought in players to cover positions from those who we have sold,

My new Director of football found the new signings which I confirmed signings myself, due to his JPA and JPP. Been chasing him since the summer and finally got him!

Out going transfers

Decided to sell Mario as i felt, I couldn't play him more as I wanted to, Wolves came in for him and off he went.

Nkoulou, was kicking off saying he wants to leave for financial reasons due to their interest.

Zaza - was hit and miss for me as I got Marco Franco in U's18 and promoted him to first team for his development.

Sent Jovelic and Da Graca on loan for game times, unsure what to do with them when they come back in the summer.

Hoping to finish the season over the weekend :D

Cengiz Under has been a player that I seem to buy on most saves this year, so I decided to actually give managing AS Roma a whirl. Loving it so far, unbeaten in the league after 31 games and a cup final against Sampdoria to look forward to too. At. Madrid knocked us out of the UCL though.

Only bought Tonali and Rajkovic. Rest of the transfer kitty got converted into wages to extend Under, De Rossi, Pellegrini and Fazio. We have a good young core of players, most on long term deals so hopefully we can keep hold of them and this can turn into a medium to long term save.

Have started a new game with Fiorentina last week. Love the challenge in Serie A. Juventus are of course far better than anyone else, but there are a lot of teams behind them who challenge for the European places: Inter, Roma, Milan, Napoli and a little behind them teams like Torino, Lazio, Atalanta and Fiorentina.

With some great young players and a lot of loanees, Fiorentina is both a great and a scary place to be. There's a lot of potential but about half of your first team squad is loaned in, and you don't have the funds to replace them after the first season ends. I believe there were 50 loans (in and out) ending for me at the end of the season. Welcome to Italy...

I'll do a more thorough write up a bit later, but I already finished my first season, getting a UCL spot. But first, let's see how the transfer window goes and if I can get through it without losing all my major stars.

I'm currently on a nice Palermo save.

Won B in first season.
10th in second.
2nd in third.
4th in fourth with 1st knockout CL round.
Won the league on last matchday in fifth and lost EL final due to horrible scheduling (that Qatar WC season, had to play two key league games and EL final in like 5 days).
Won the league easily in sixth season but got annoyed because I got knocked out in CL semi-final against Salzburg in typical FM fashion. They also defeated City in the same way.

4-3-3, high press.

Perin
Lazzari-Varnier-Romero-Dimarco
Murgia-Gagliardini-Paredes
Vignato-Arp-Kean

Also have Despoli, Luca Pellegrini, Fabinho, Riccardi, Sarr, Ziyech, Suso...

The save will become boring now because everyone except for Napoli is incompetent and has fallen off already.

Finally started on a Internazionale save this FM as Roberto Baggio, although I wont be using a Trequartista yet.. I'll be playing a 4-3-3 (4-1-4-1 DM Wide) Maybe I'll experiment with a Trequartista in the lone striker role, don't know if that would work.

I've also used the pre-game editor to make Javier Zanetti my assistant-manager and transfer Wilmar Barrios and Lorenzo Crisetig to my selection, just to have some options at the DM position as I cancelled the first transfer window. Maybe a bit of cheating but it's just to make my save pleasant for myself.

Im now in Season 31/32 with Brescia Calcio. Over the years I was able to develop the club to Italians top side.

We were able to build a new Stadium and to develop the Youth and Training Ground. Unfortunately I play with FM Touch which doesn't produce a lot of talents every year.

I focus my scouting on young talents all over Europe and South America. My squad has some really world class Players now. Also the Staff looks great now.

The only thing I would like to achieve now is to win the Champions League. I couldn't manage to reach the quarterfinal until yet. All the other top clubs are having better or similar squads and I was not able to win against them when it counts. The only thing I think I can approve are the standards and the Squad deep. These are the two things I want to focus and try to win the greatest club title in the next years.

Im now in Season 31/32 with Brescia Calcio. Over the years I was able to develop the club to Italians top side.

We were able to build a new Stadium and to develop the Youth and Training Ground. Unfortunately I play with FM Touch which doesn't produce a lot of talents every year.

Wow, brilliant progress with Brescia! You have got good players in the team  Hopefully you can add Champions League title soon!

Hi guys I'm currently playing a save with Parma and now I'm at the beginning of the 2019/20 season. Why can't i register Thiago Almada(Argentina), Svetozar Markovic (Serbia) despite selling Gabriel Brazao(Brazil) to FC Porto and also Gervinho(Ivory Coast) to (Sampdoria)..?? Any help would be appreciated because this is bugging the hell out of me..

Edit :I've read Raymond85's comments but i don't quite get it.. I thought i had it all figured by selling Brazao to a club outside of Italy and also selling Gervinho.

First time managing outside of England on this years game and Ive gone for Roma. Always been my favorite team from Italy, I love the kit and I love the actual city. Plus with Hadrians Wall right on my doorstep I feel like Rome is a natural choice for me

Ive only just started pre season and the only signing Ive made is Cutrone from Milan. One pre season friendly played was a 1-1 away at Tottenham.

Yes, fellow Parma manager! I had asked similar questions earlier in this thread. You can look for my first post onwards.

Anyway, you should be able to register one of them right? For both, you have to sell Gervinho outside of Italy.

Unless, you also signed non-EU youngsters but not planning to register them? FM only count the first 2 signings you made each season as eligible to be registered.

I will shared with you my current experience (I'm currently in my 3rd season).

1st season - First window transfer off, so I have Brazao and Gervinho. Both are starters for me. I'm planning to make Brazao my long term number 1. Currently on 2.5 stars with 4.5 gold PA. During the January window, I bought Coetze but since I can't register him, I loaned him back for the rest of the season to his original club. Diakhate doesn't count towards the restriction as he was bought from Fiorentina.

2nd season - Sold Gervinho to a foreign club (Austria I think) and was able to register Coetze now. I also bought Wuilker Farinez. Farinez couldn't be registered but I didn't loaned him back to his original club as I was hoping to loan him out to a Spanish club. Unfortunately nobody was interested. Both Coetze and Farinez counted as the 2 non-EU players I could sign for the 2nd season. I also bought Ivonei at the end of this season. Similar plan to Farinez, and again no club in Spain was interested to loan him.

3rd season - Here is where it gets interesting and different to the previous discussion we had in this topic. I was able to register Farinez as my 3rd non-EU this season! So my early understanding is correct, I think. That each season, you can add one non-EU player to your registration. Ivonei is now not doing anything and is with the u20s, hoping he can play some games there, friendlies at least. Will try to loan him out again in January. I also bought Mahlonoka from Coetze's old club and he counted as the non-EU signing of the 3rd season along with Ivonei. Same deal with Ivonei, can't register him but there was interest from Perugia who is in Serie A to loan him for the season. Decided to keep him as I wanted more trained at club players. Bought another non-EU, Ivorian regen to bring my it to 3 (over the limit). I loaned out Farinez after he played one Serie A game, as I had bought Joel Pereira as backup with the assumption Farinez couldn't be registered anyway. Farinez is on loan at Leganes in La Liga for 2 seasons. I had expected Farinez going out on loan abroad would open up the registration for Ivonei, but I am unable to do that unfortunately.

Also, had a message telling me Diakhate non-EU situation changed because of his final year contract. Was able to register him regardless and renew his contract after the start of the season due to his excellent form. Not sure how this would have played out otherwise. So, this current season, my registered non-EU players are Brazao, Coetze, Diakhate, Farinez (before loaning him out), and Palacios (bought him from Juve as he was transfer listed - for £4.1 million! He was valued at £7.25m). Wanted him before I started my save before the non-EU rules came crashing down on me, so was really happy with this! It was my first experience dealing with Serie A limited non-EU rules.

4th season onwards- If my understanding is correct, here is what I expect to happen in regards to my non-EU situation next season. I will be able to register Ivonei (like Farinez) but not Mahlonoka (registration should be possible in 5th season) and the regen (6th season). If not, I will loan both Ivonei and Mahlonoka to Spanish clubs. Again, I'm only doing this by experience, not sure if it is the correct situation. Might be Farinez is a full international and that played a part in him being allowed to be registered? (As stated in the not-so-clear rules)

Hope this helps! Will post more updates about my Parma save later!

Good to see this thread still going strong with new people taking over in Italy :D

@Kevin10006 You can only register 2 non EU players :( And it depends how many Non EU players you have currently in your team, unless you missed the deadline to register them.

I am really gutted to see this news, he have been absolutely amazing since I brought in from the start of this save, his agent said he wants to join Man City for financial reasons :(  Got decent replacements for him from the U's18.

Selling players has been a dreadful experience for me.

2023 on my last save. Won two scudetti in a row with Palermo. EL finalist and CL semi-finalist in those seasons.
My best players are valued at 55-60mil€.

Yet the best offers are those non-negotiable garbage offers full of bonuses that will never be completed. Like 50mil€ max.
Even got some loan offers from mid-table teams, lol.
Not a single good offer in 6 seasons.

As for the foreigners rule, selling players doesn't impact it.
It's just non-EU players signed from abroad. Nothing else.

If you for example sign 10 non-EU players over 5 seasons, you can register all of them. But you can't more than two new ones per season.

Definitely not true on this part, I'm afraid.

Damn, looks like i won't be able to register both Almada and Markovic at least till the third season.. Because i forgot to mention as well that i did sign Wilfred Bony (Ivory Coast) in my first season January window for free and now he counts as one of the Non EU players during the second season despite the fact that he's out on loan in Korea. Damn Italy why you gotta make this **** so complicated smh..

Yeah i get it (or do i?) If I'm not mistaken international caps can also affect whether a NON EU players can registered or not right?
