Perhaps the wording is somehow different to the coding? Maybe it says "offered" when it's only triggered if you accept the job.

Stab in the dark, though.

I was gutted to lose the USSA Vertou game. We had a goal disallowed and one that we conceded was a long range strike from a counter after our GK took an attacking free-kick and was left stranded upfield.

Transfer Frenzy. Feb 2026.

Our right wing-back has been attracting a lot of attention recently and there have been lots of bids coming in, but they have been so small as to make it largely irrelevant.

He has submitted a formal transfer request , (which I have declined), because he is contracted for another season after this and then we have a 2 year option on him on top of that, (so 3 more years in total).

Tours FC, CS Sedan Ardennes, Niort, QRM & Stade Lavallois have all been in for him again and again to such an extent that the most recent bids were in excess of £40,000, (which is a lot of money at this level), especially when our finances are as bad as they are.

059f535a33e58730870ba8d4f66f338f.png

Actually, that's a load of rubbish I'm spouting.

£40k isn't a lot of money at this level. It's just a lot of money for us.

There have been lots of transfers at this level this season valued at £100,000+.

66d0d3007cc0be9a248e97553e64706a.png

Despite that, it is a lot of money for us and I need to think about accepting and restructuring the deal to suit me so that we get the best out of it.

Our 2 biggest sales have been as follows:

29719f60dceea37265192a0a69b266ed.png

a2689e50679477cda241f76f5392cbfb.png

As long as we get more for him than we got for (20a) Rubén (F.Det) (2020) * then I will be happy I think. I'm hopeful that we should be able to start flogging squad players for close to £100,000+ as they reach close to their peak.

This is what (22n) Garrido (F.Pro) * looks like now.

Youth Intake day 7. Feb 2026.

907fdd22c8a140ab12e9667ed14c492c.png

These initial messages can often me a little misleading, so I try to not pay too much attention to them.

In this case we have 1 player with 5.0 PA and that makes this a reasonable intake.

There are 4 players that I will NOT be signing to a youth contract.

(26o) has Det of 6 and only has 2.5 PA so I have decided that he's not worth keeping when he will lower squad Set and offer little in return.

(26l) has Det of 3 and workrate of 3, has a (Cas) personality and only 2.5 PA. Like the player above, he is not worth keeping.

(26h) has Det of 3 and again, is not worth keeping with a PA of 3.0.

(26g) has Det of 7 and again, is not worth keeping with a PA of 3.0.

(26c) Iker Pérez (Cas) is the one player who has a poor Det attribute, (it's 5), but whom I feel is worth signing.

Always good to a see a low prospect turn out so well, did you give Garrido more attention because he was F Pro?

Edit - having seen his appearances, it doesn't look like you did. I suppose maybe his professionalism has just helped ensure he developed quickly.

I know you love developing youth players so with that in mind, have you considered doing a Brommapojkarna save in Sweden?  I have probably spelt that wrong.

They a phenomenal youth academy both in game and in real life.  I read somewhere that they field over 250 different sides, which is more than any other club in world football.

Not at all. No. Obviously I do give preferential treatment to players I like, (might be personality, name, PPM, or just attribute balance), but only really when it isn't clear and obvious that someone isn't better. Had there been someone who looked better, then they would have played ahead of him.

I should also add that I'm largely selecting squads based on CA stars, so for him even to get into the Senior squad he had to do a lot of work on his own in terms of development. I think we can put that down partly to an low-valuation of his PA initially, but also excellent development as a result of his personality.

I must admit that I had forgotten he was an (22n). That's ridiculous and should probably serve as a warning to those of you who only sign the top 3-4 players of each intake, (which is most of you I know).

[Edit]

You are not going to believe this, but he is currently the best player by CA at the club.

He has 4.0 CA. the next best at the club has only 3.5 CA.

I have toyed with the idea of a Scandi save, but always ended up doing something else. I have heard of "BP", but only within the game. Thanks. Might have to look at them in the future.

There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of difference here between then and now.

(19a) Núñez (Bal) (2019) * and (19b) Aguado (F.Det) * were the stars then and they are still the stars now, (although (19c) Marrero (F.Pro) * has improved a little).

The difference between then and now is enormous. We may not have have (20a) Ruben (F.Det) (2020) * at the club now, but even in his absence, the difference is significant. (20k) Jiménez. (Bal) is still as poor now as he was then, (not sure why he is still here), but from him up, there has been significant improvement, (ahead of what was expected)..

This is the most significance, possibly that I have ever seen. (22n) Garrido (F.Pro) * was rated as the 14th of 16 players in the 2022 intake rated by PA. He has gone from that lowly position, to the best player at the club, (rated by PA). His PA is now maxed out at 5.0 PA.

If this doesn't tell you not to discard players on Day 1 then I don't know what will.

The 1st thing that strikes me here when comparing these 2 pieces of info is that while the top and bottom end of the scales might remain similar, the middle of the scale has significantly increased. (23k) Ruiz (Bal) has increased from a 2.5 PA player to a 4.5 PA player for example. A 2.5 PA player can be dismissed pretty easily, but a 4.5 PA player has the potential to make a significant impact on the senior side.

(23e) Bouchez (F.Det) * and (23f) Prieto (Bal) * have also made significant increases in PA.

It's the top end of the scale that sees the most significant difference in 2024. We started with just 2x 5.0 players and 2 2x 3.5 PA players and now find ourselves with 4x 5.0 players, a 4.5 PA player and 2x 3.5 PA players.

There seems to be very little difference in the then and now pictures of the 2026 intake, but I wonder if that's just because such a small period of time has passed since the intake and the Ass Man has not yet had time to realise quite how wrong he initially was.

Your assman might need replacing, that's significant changes, quite consistently.

I understand that things can be off, but not so consistently in the one direction. I'd also have expected some previous 5* to drop to 4 and 3 as the quality level of your squad improves.

There have been a few changes in Ass Man, but their JPP attribute has remained similar throughout.

Franck Darrigues was our starting Ass Man, but he was poached by Bergerac Perigord and became their Manager and has since moved on to Grenoble.

4ffc03766ca042155da26b036eed8c63.png

Khaled Kehiha became the Ass Man 3 months later but I'm not sure what the delay was, (other than that I had farmed it out to the DoF to control, and it looks like we might have been without a DoF until 18th Jun.

0132b3837de9ec737bfbf472a20845cc.png

Khaled Kehiha was then poached himself to become Manager at Rodez in Jun 2024. We signed a new Reserves Ass Man less than a week later, so I would guess that my DoF opted to promote from within.

d84107b35510b99ab0bc6dd205070acc.png

François Clerc, (who has 13 senior INT (FRA) Caps, is my current Ass Man. He was promoted from the role of U19 Coach to Reserves Ass Man in 2023, but he is now our Senior Ass Man but it doesn't say when that happened.

I actually didn't realise who I had as my current Ass Man. I think in hindsight that he's better than what has gone before so the reports are more accurate now than they were historically.

Real San Sebastian finished in 6th place and will play in the Europa League next season.

A.Bilbao finished 1 place behind their Basque rivals,  but they will also play in the Europa League next season.

Eibar finished in 16th place and avoided relegation.

Alaves finished 19th and will unfortunately be playing in a lower division last season.

Spanish 2nd Division.

Sestao finished 4th and will have another go at promotion next season.

Real San Sebastian finished 5th and I'm not sure that they can get promoted anyway.

Real Irun finished 10th and will play again at this level next season.

Amorebieta finished 13th and will play again at this level next year.

Gernika finished 14th and will plat again at this level next year.

A Getxo finished 17th and were relegated.

Tafalla finished 18th and were relegated.

Beasain finished rock bottom 20th and were relegated.

Seems odd that a nation such as Italy would approach someone in the 3rd tier of French football as manager.

Very odd.

SI have ignored International Management for FAR too long and the whole thing needs to be looked at. It wouldn't be quite so bad were it not for the fact that I think I have only done 1 badge and started off with Sunday League rep.

I’m having success changing mentalities through mentoring but the determination stat is a very slow painful thing to raise.

If I have a youth sign on that needs mentoring, I move him to the first team squad and have him and a couple of others work with a suitable team leader. Then I just make him available for all u18 games so he’s still playing

To be honest I would love to find one that I release and who then went on to big things. It will almost be the proof of the pudding if I#m not mixing metaphor's.

We have so many decent PA players that I'm unlikely to miss a couple even if they turn out to be equal best in the intake.

I still haven't jumped into mentoring. I will do soon and will do so with both feet so don't worry about that. I'm just not overly bothered right now when the difference in PA is between really rubbish and pretty rubbish. When and if I get promoted, money starts rolling in and I start developing the facilities, then I will certainly be looking at it in more detail.

Yeah, exactly.

I must admit that I'm starting to wonder if you can tutor within sub-squads, (so can a player in the U19's tutor another U19's player, (because this is mentoring and not tutoring so different rules apply). I will have a look soon and bore you all to death I'm sure.

Have you got a career thread @Bigshow1?

yes you can mentor within all squads, there will be team leaders within the u19's but who are not team leaders in a higher squad. The only problem i found was that the player with a better personality can end up worse, although this could also be down to the general club personality as dictated by the first team.

The problem is that we are just conceding too many goals. 4, 3 and 4 again in the 3 games we lost this month. We really need to tighten up.

He took a free-kick from the left hand side and then started to make his way back, but when it was cleared he obviously anticipated it and turned round and after that it was just a case of skinning the defender on the outside and putting the ball on a plate for the striker!

What's with the goal scoring GK btw? Is he particularly good at FKs/Pens or do you just have him up there for the lols?

I was one of a few people who people who between us came up with the idea of seeing how many goals we could score with a GK.

The following thread was born.

Now it's just the way I play.

No, this GK is not particularly good at anything, but I think there is a flaw in the way that certainly penalties are calculated.

Upon seeing the Athletic Bilbao thread I've now taken to having free kick-taking goalkeepers - Alban Lafont got 3 in his first season taking them for my Dortmund team, 2 of which were winners :)

I wouldn't do it with anyone below 12 free kicks though, unless I had nobody in the squad with 15+, as it would seem a waste.
