Open play? Again?  Feb 2047

Such was the demand to score a goal from open play that goal-scoring GK Terra got a little carried away and after scoring a hat-trick, (including a goal from open play against Humaita in a 4-0 win, he followed it up with a 2nd goal from open play in the 6 nil demolishing of Corumbaense just 4 days later.

It's not the same goal as above.

More goal-scoring GK goals. Feb 2047

After scoring 5 goals in the opening 8 games of the season, Terr bagged 2 more against Corumbaense to make it 7 goals from 9 games.

Although Terra is on 7 goals after 9 games, it could and should be higher. He has missed 1 penalty himself, (he's 3/4 so far this season), but other players have also taken 2 penalties in an attempt to secure their hat-tricks. (1 was scored and 1 was missed), so he could easily be on 10 goals after 9 games.

Just for the record, I have checked and this was ticked by mistake. I know that it was broken when I was at Bayonne, but just in case it's been fixed now I have un-ticked it again.

Another goal-scoring GK goal. Feb 2047

I think that we can question GK performance in some of the free-kicks scored by Terra, but nothing he could do about this one.

8e84acde5c81fd21ee8873c9266dc4d3.gif

After 16 goals last season, Terra is now up to 8 goals from 10 matches and would you believe it, despite me un-ticking the box AGAIN while making my last post, a striker AGAIN stole a penalty off him and missed again. Terra has missed 1 penalty and had 3 penalties stolen off him. He could easily be on 11 goals from 10 matches.

As much as I'm enjoying smashing in the goals, my eyes have been turned by the few number of goals scored in the against column. We might have won 8-1, but I would much prefer to win 5-0 than 8-1. :(

Greedy much?

Goal-scoring GK Terra scored 7 goals this month, (that is just ridiculous to write that statement), but he could have had 9 goals as Baratinha not once but twice stole a penalty off him and missed both.

Just on a presentation point, would you mind letting me know if you like the way I show the fixtures as above, or if you would prefer to see it something like this in future?

I'm personally ok with mixing them at the moment, but I think as time progresses and we start to enter additional competitions it might get a bit muddled and this perhaps allows readers to see at a glance without looking to carefully.

Anyway, let me know please.

Help Needed

In FM18, when you had lots of goal-scorers and they went off the right hand side of the page you used to be able to scroll all the way to the right, click on the top right hand corner column and drag it back left so that all the info would be contained within the screen. What this would do is make some of the big scoring games "fatter" than the other games in order to get all the info in the line, but it at least allowed you to get all the goal-scorers visible on the page. If you look at the Andira game above, you can see that there was 1 goal scored by Araujo, 2 goals scored by Schmitz, a hat-trick scored by Baratinha and then Luis someone scored at least 1 goal, but that still leaves 1 goal unaccounted for. (Actually Terra scored the last goal). Does anyone know how to resolve this because it's a real pet hate of mine and what's more annoying is that it worked perfectly fine in FM18.

Thank you if you respond to either of the above points.

Last month we scored 24 goals in 6 games and goal-scoring GK Terra managed to score 7 himself. This month we have scored 41 goals in 9 games and he scored a single goal. He's still had 13 shots, (not sure how many have been on target), but none have resulted in goals. No penalties for anyone this month.

2107c6ee97b3b3b3daf46acd2c2fa3ad.png

Next up in the Acre State Championship we have our big rivals Rio Branco (AC). The truth is that it doesn't really matter if we win, lose or draw, because the top of the league doesn't win anything come the end of the season, but there is very much a case of getting one over on them. I want to win and I want to win to nil. 1-0 or 5-0 makes no difference to me in this game.

He's 30 years old, but I don't really want to sell him at the moment.

It's interesting that since I refused to let him go to Saudi Arabia, (presumably for big bucks), Terra has been unhappy. Since he has been unhappy he has scored 0 goals in 9 games.....:kriss:

Transfers. Apr 2047.

El Presidente #1 was in charge of transfers during the 1st season and he did ok.

41627242d06aa63b5f74806ed8632158.png

He made some really good loan signings last season but while that got us promoted and won us silverware, it's not the way I want to run/develop a club so I have purposefully declined a few loan deals for good players this second season.

Luis Eduardo plays on the right flank and from a supporting role during the 1st season, has become a more consistent performer this season.

Baratinha was 3rd choice striker after his signing in season 1 but has gone on to become 1st choice this season and has responded with 22 goals in 18 games.

Renato DoF  has been in charge of signings since his arrival.

1a4480d3b7d8933d010c77f2ea978f23.png

Although I was planning on not making loan signings, the quality that we have been offered recently has made me reconsider. Obviously we won't need to rely on them for the 1st part of the season, but the Second Division has 38 league games compared to 18 in the Third Division. With that in mind I thought we could do with some added depth and really liked the look of these so welcomed them in.

Danilo. I like that he's a leader. He has experience and mental attributes look strong. He just looks significantly better than the other strikers we have available.

Tevez. Signed primarily as a centre-half, (he's 6'6"), that he could also cover left back was also key in me accepting the deal.

Adriano. Once I had signed 1 striker, I was always thinking of signing a second good one if I could, safe in the knowledge that Baratinha would prove to be a more than reasonable back-up.

Now THIS is what this thread is all about now. :applause:

Thank you.

I want to learn all this stuff for FM20, (and the history too).

I don't completely understand all of your post, but I understand that the Copa Verde Champion used to go into a Playoff in which the winner qualified for the Copa Sudamericana, (which is the junior continental trophy in S.America I think).

What confuses me is where Chapecoense come in to it or who Cuiba are. Are Cuiba a team in Acre State?

In the game I can see a few regional Cups.

Copa Verde.

South Minas Rio, (and that's the one Chapecoense is in), so I think I'm on the right track here.

NorthEast Regional, (What a rubbish name that is in comparison to the first two).

So there are 3 Regional Cups. You mention Mato Grosso but there is a Mato Gross State and a Matto Gross do Sul State, (or something like that). It's very strange.

I think this link helps you.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Copa_Sudamericana

Read "Brazil 8".

That rule change on 2017 Copa Sudamericana. Since 2016, the champion of Copa Verde has qualified to the round of 16 for Copa do Brasil for next year. Example: The champion of 2019 Copa Verde qualified into the Round of 16 of 2020 Copa do Brasil. Unterstand? :)

Yes, everything is very clear  now.

The Copa Verde Champion used to go into Copa Sudamerica up until 2015.

Since then they go the the Round 16 of the Brazilian Cup.

It's obviously a shame that the route to Copa Sudanerica is no longer there, but that's just the way it goes. It has made me wonder how you do qualify though so I'm going to look right now.

Just to the next. Or, for example, the "Brazil 6" in Campeonato Brasileiro wins the Copa do Brasil, they put for "Brazil 2", and the 4th place of Campeonato Brasileiro puts into "Brazil 5".

In Brazil, we have a possibility to qualify for example, 14 teams for continental competitions. If all these teams played in Campeonato Brasileiro, only the six worst teams don't qualify a continental competition.

The run is over. May 2047

It took us going down to 10 men and conceding goals in the 86th and 93rd minute, but our unbeaten run is over. I was wondering how we would get on in the Second Division, and this suggests that while we are not going to win every game, we should at least be competitive.

Ceará finished 8th in the Second Division last season by the way.

The real prize for winning the Copa Verde, May 2047.

75b47c5809df972f23b2e33a6d9a11a7.png

You don't get much in terms of prize money for winning the Copa Verde, but as @CCSantoshas pointed out, what you do get is a bye to the last 16 of the Brazilian Cup. We met First Division Flamengo and obviously lost, (albeit only 5-3 on aggregate which I am very happy with), but we get almost £0.5M in prize money for effectively falling at the 1st hurdle.

Even with the compensation for the Ass Man we still had less than £0.5M in the bank before this, so this is really significant in terms of the save.

[Edit] We only received £168,000 last season in prize money for this competition.

Gone. May 2047.

I thought we were getting somewhere with the staffing situation at the club, but in the space of less than a month we have lost our Chief Scout, our DoF and our Ass Man. We have already replaces the Chief Scout, (and have another Scout on top of that), but we haven't yet replaced the HoYD or the Ass Man.

The Ass Man is a huge loss and I feat the HoYD will be to if we don't get a replacement in between now and...... damn, not sure when it is no. September?

Astonishing. May 2047

I think I might just have pulled off an absolute masterstroke.

I "think" I've just somehow managed to sign this bloke as my new Ass Man.

afeee737c6ac5fa4534cd432afc8c58a.png

He's WAY better than the other staff I had. I have offered him lots of add-on's and in the end he wanted a yearly rise of..... something, which I don't normally agree to, but he wanted a basic wage of £1,900 per week and we could only offer him £1,100 I think, so something had to sweeten the deal.

I also tied him down to a 3 year contract and no I didn't waive compensation either, so if someone wants him then they are going to have to pay us about £170,000, (and they will want him).

Please let him sign. Pretty please.

May 2047

All in all a pretty damn fine Month if you ask me.

First of all we retained the Copa Verde with a comfortable win over our rivals Rio Branco (AP).

9e48d12942355273204d2c315b046812.png

Then we follows that up with our 1st Acre State Championship, (to win us the double).

3f0a8093346c02461860082d03435f30.png

I was delighted to have got this far in the Cup, (without playing a game of course) and this will happen again next season of course thanks to us winning the Copa Verde again. We might have lost both games here, but I was really happy with our performances in both games.

Terra scored his 11th of the season and I'm hoping that he continues to score in the league and his total is..... ENORMOUS.

97bc74db52c43a87e3aa143c2e79b295.png

The Second Division was a bit of an unknown, but I wasn't too gutted to lose the opening game a end our non-losing streak. We were soon back to winning ways in our 2nd and 3rd games, and how we didn't beat Circiuma I will never know.

0ecded5476a184dba1e70bdf56dc4d8b.png

That leaves us in a comfortable mid-table position and I blame the fact that we lose out last game down to not having an Ass Man,

Jun 2047

9 league games in a month is not something that I have ever experienced before. I think we coped quite well considering where we started from such a short time ago. We started and finished the month strongly and the period in the middle can be put down to both of our loan strikers getting injured. 1 was a serious injury and I cancelled the loan as a result. Unfortunately it took me a few games before I got a replacement signed in the form of 17 year old superstar in the making...... Jonatan Dallazen, (who is a product of the Gremio Academy).

6bbf8dc1d5020bfee32e12cb01500782.png

Although there were 9 games this month, our goal-scoring GK Terra still only managed 1 goal, (although that does bring him to 12 for the season)

09b831287d0a37c6d713fe0c7e0aec9d.gif

There are no Playoffs in this league. Brazil, (at least from my perspective), don't seem as inclined to try and fix things that aren't broken.

  • Too many games? I think we will play 68 games this season. Bring em on.
  • Get rid of 2-legged Cup games? No way. It adds to the drama and is more tactical melting pot.
  • Playoffs to add excitement to dreary end of season games? Who needs more excitement when you are watching football in Brazil?

I'm really happy with how we are doing in the league. I knew it would be harder than the win-fest that we've got going on in the Cups, but at the same time I'm pleased that we look like we are going to be good enough to mount a title challenge. With that addition of youngster Jonatan Dallazen, I even hope that he might fire us away from the pack. He's got 4 goals in 3 league games, winning the MotM award in each. He looks a bit special as you can see below.

366251a630c469a5e5599e65b4749958.png

Jonatan Dallazen

We're paying him £1,000 per week, but it's money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

He's transfer listed by request, but the asking price is £500,000 and that's way out of our budget. I need to be signing players on a free at the moment, selling players who do well and pumping all our money into the facilities. There is unfortunately no chance of us signing this bloke to a permanent deal at this time.

(39b) Xabier (Res) * watch. Jul 2047.

It's been a while since I updated you about him, but I am keeping an eye on him so let me share.

He's still at Spurs and now valued at a whopping £74M.

Although that's a hell of a price tag, I have a sneaking suspicion that he might be on the move before too long. He's earning a whopping £275,000 per week at the age of 23, but his form at club level has not transferred over to the International stage where he has found the net on only 6 occasions from 24 games.

Last season he was good in the league after I activated the Premier League. He scored 19 league goals from 25(3) appearances as Spurs won the Premier League by 4 points from Man City and then Liverpool.

His domestic form couldn't be transferred to continental football however and he notched only a single goal from 9(2) appearances in Europe. This wouldn't have been quite such a disaster had Spurs not gone on to win the Champions League, (beating Man Utd on pens in the Final), where he didn't even make the squad, presumably because of his poor scoring record in Europe).

Man Utd are interested in him, but he recently signed a new deal that will keep him at Spurs for 3 more years.

Spurs seem to play with just 1 up top most of the time, but they have a few options there. There is a good Belgian player, (who started the Champions League Final), and there is a 6'7" Italian who would certainly get games for me off the bench in that team. The out and out 1st choice striker though is a very good Brazilian who scored 20 league goals for Spurs last year. They really do have an embarrassment of riches in this area.

Aviron Bayonnais watch. Jul 2047.

they are now being managed by a newgen Ukrainian called Vyacheslav Malyshev.

He had a decent if unspectacular career as a player before moving into Management, (although he was transferred for a lot of money).

420d19f226c8262c046b895987189469.png
788eacc676912d07b517c0255240561e.png

Bayonne finished 8th in Ligue 1 last season, and I would say that's under-performing based on what I managed, but the reality is that he's still Managing Bayonne so they are possibly still over-performing. As a result of finishing 8th, (after finishing 7th the previous year and 3rd the year before that when I left mid-season), they are only playing in the Euro Cup rather than the Champions League and I'm sure this will affect them in the transfer market where they have been very very very busy.

2045/46.

They got rid of a LOT of players the season after I left, but probably 3 are significant, (although I think some of the other deals offer poor value for the selling club).

(39a) Jesús (F.Pro) (2039) * is the big one and I'm not surprised that he was sold. I was planning on selling him myself after all. The difference is that I was planning on getting about £100M + add-on's for him. I think this was a particularly poor deal for Bayonne. What happened after he was sold to Juve? They immediately won the Champions League in his 1st season.

The other 2 deals both involve French rivals Monaco. (43b) Ochoa (Bal) (a young left back), and (43a) Javier (Unamb) (2043) *, a young striker, both went for very small fees considering how good I thought they were going to be and how important they were in my plans. Very poor business, especially to a domestic rival, although I appreciate that the squad was huge and they probably just wanted them gone.

8284cbf7a8b8e08e48defdca40f745d1.png

2046/47.

There are 3 deals to look at here. w

(40a) Ruiz (F.Det) (2040) * went to domestic rivals Marseille and what an absolute shocker of a deal that was. The fee was rubbish, (and with few add-ons). He was the replacement for (39a) Jesús (F.Pro) (2039) * who was sold the season before so in 2 seasons you have sold your 1st and 2nd choice left wingers. I say sold. They almost gave him away. He has since made his French debut and is valued at £27M.

(36a) Dulce (Bal) (2036) * went to...... Besiktas for a paltry £13.5M. I appreciate that he doesn't look brilliant, but he was just so effective for me. I'm trying to think of a real life player to compare him with but I can't. he should have been kept at the club even as a back-up. It was hardly worth selling him for that amount.

(40e) José Pérez (F.Det) * was sold to Newcastle for just £2.9M. That's ridiculous. I know he was 3rd choice on the right flank, but that's ridiculous. He is already worth £11.25M at the age of 22 and was a great bit of business....... for Newcastle.

69cd3d968d09a7ff7db3a8d9d9dad1ee.png

The new bloke has signed big though.

2045/46.

Fred Mukendi was good business.
Wellington Gaucho was excellent business.
Jorge was excellent business.
Steven Maffio was good business.

f718979d6e9ec11770723ddbe2cbd48e.png

2046/47.

Carlos Eiki was good business.

443d988d8472b262c239694df4c1510c.png

I think the new bloke has performed REALLY poorly in the transfer market. No so much in players signed, where he probably been above average, but in terms of players sold where he has been woeful. I also think he has been poor looking at what he has got and what he has achieved.

Run comes to an end. Jul 2047.

I know I have already been on much longer runs than this, but this is in the Second Division so is a big deal.

We got spanked by the top of the table, but only after we had a man sent off in the 1st half. We were right in the mix and even now are not a million miles away. The top 4 get promoted and we are in 5th so it's all to play for.

Another busy month saw us falter a little and fall away from the leaders as the run of 9 league games without losing came to a crashing abrupt halt against Ceara. We had a player sent off in both the games we lost, (not a coincidence), and we need to get back on track before we lose any more ground.

We are still doing brilliantly to be anywhere near this level, but I just don't want to moss out on a potential promotion by taking it easy in the middle of the season.

Goal-scoring GK Terra scored again from the spot, bringing his tally to 13 for the season..
