Final league table. Kaiserslautern in the end ran out deserved winners scoring more goals than anyone showing testament to Phillip Lahm and his attacking style. Cologne finally head back to the Bundesliga after 3 seasons in the Bundesliga 2. Augsburg failed to bounce back through the playoffs as Nuremberg beat them. Paderborn are the overachievers playing attacking football as well.

Team Stats

Philipp Lahm's change in style is all to see as Kaiserslautern cement themselves as one of the best passing sides in the league. Average possession 55% pass completion 84% 16024 passes completed great stats in terms of passing and holding onto the ball.

8e307df1c6423c5db6e769e88debaeb6.png

69 chances created and 237 Crosses Completed shows that Lahm isn't just knocking the ball about for the sake of it there is a purpose when we get into the final 3rd to create chances.

Most goals scored in the league 71 shots on target 263 most in the league 12% conversion rate. Kaiserslautern aren't just creating an abundance of chances there taking them or at least making the goalkeeper work. 10 goals from corners combination of lahm's good ideas, players capable of delivering the ball and two powerful centre backs.

ecd70e8840328190aa6b3b8413d0fccd.png

Its not all attacking positives for Kaiserslautern they were defensively solid as well. only 24 goals conceded 2nd best in the league 15 clean sheets and only 2 goals conceded from corners. all round a solid defence.

Player Stats

Attacking Players

0487bb26433a0ca9f6c8c1b34256a2ef.png

Fantastic first season for Florent Muslija proved a great bit of business he is still only 22 years old. 11 goals and 13 assists 41% shots on target 86% pass completion and also 72% of tackles won a big part of what Philipp lahm expects of him initiating that press.

090844aba4b05cded747687858347aef.png

Productive season for Lukas Spalvis 20 goals from 31 starts 6 assists and 5 players of the match. 59% shots on target could be better for that reason Philipp Lahm will be looking for competition for him in the summer as its a big step up.

632be7c46b9e3d1bbb5cc34e2e611e74.png

A fine first season for Andreas Skov Olsen scored 8 goals and 11 assists from the inside right forward. still can improve with his final ball but I think that is because he is more direct than Muslija. Still only 21 and more than capable of stepping up to the Bundesliga.

14f7950e4b4f9323f7599d6626b718b8.png

Record signing Christian Tue smashed in 12 goals from the middle of the park he also tackled more than any other midfielder his passing was 85% completion also. certainly a good first season and will only get better. RB Leipzig are already chasing him.

Midfield Players

68fb9bc945ef06022a4306630b6e734d.png

The Maestro Mads Albaek has another superb season. He dropped back in front of the back 4 to conduct the game from deep and he done it perfectly. Pass completion of 93% and 2806 completed passes. He is 31 now and his physicals have started to decline but technically he is still immense will play a massive part in keeping the club up next season.

70262641e94c2aeff848c2b1e510890c.png

Bargain of the season Nikolas Nartey who arrived on a free transfer slotted nicely into midfield and pitched in with 5 goals and 5 assists another 2014 passed completed as well could prove to be a natural replacement for Albaek but for the time being he is doing a fine job in the mezzala.

9360c4bc25757aab087729edb08b2c50.png

Finally Sigurd Gronli starts to live up to his potential 6 goals and 7 assists. He was the main man in the DFB-Pokal cup run often controlling games. He is now found his feet in the mezzala role Lahm is looking forward to seeing him develop even more next season.

Defensive Players

7a686a8be509cff232f66f23a4023b9f.png

A stellar season from Freddy Knudsen 0 mistakes leading to goals 101 interceptions and 5 key tackles. His passing was impressive as well 1643 completed passes nice coming from the ball player at the back. He isn't rated by the coaching staff but Lahm sees him as a very reliable player and will give him his chance in the Bundesliga.

dc33d5fbacf409bca8777b2e307e8117.png

Solid first season in German football for Tyrone Mings applied himself well defensively and attacked well on the left hand side. 91 interceptions and 53 completed crosses isn't bad when coming from deep. Big Part to play next season.

f13c339788baf1fd58ace2e82d846b92.png

Rolls Royce of a defender Toby Sandberg had a great season 1 mistake all season with 83 interceptions often playing cover behind Knudsen he sweeps well against 1 man striker systems. He can also pass the ball as well and works wonderfully well with Knudsen.

68216f70587e0ac7d2f5cab5bd004c20.png

Academy graduate Jean Zimmer returned to the club and had a solid season. Won 47 tackles and provided great passing from deep on the right hand side. A big season next for him as Lahm has concerns about him at this level.

d826239d0fc68afd0218375b6c4ad521.png

The ever reliable Ozzy Hadzikic in goals had another solid season 16 clean sheets 76% shots saved that were hit at him only conceded 25 goals. Next season he will expect to be busy but Lahm has every faith that he is going to make the step up.

Awards

90dda6b600d4f32f5d3e28db3efa9494.png

c03eab3d9df062bd5b7f5efd999eeb77.gif

Muslija cleans up on the award front at the club and rightly so. His goal is a sublime finish to win goal of the season he has done that all season.

281db24f40c417cd707b993d053d66c2.png

Christian Tue, Florent Muslija and Skov Olsen all jump straight into the best 11 in there debut season. Great business from Philipp lahm in the summer.

41bf2da41fa97ebd658a6ffcd8ae562a.png

Lukas Spalvis hit 18 league goals and takes the top goal scorer award a nice end to a superb season.

Great season mate! Finally up into the Bundeslegia! - Do you need to make many changes to survive or do you think the current squad is good enough to stay up?

Thanks mate. Eh I definitely need 2 strikers I need one with pace and one who can come deep. As spalvis is very much a penalty box striker. Eh i need cover in the wide areas but may have to make do with loan signings. Other than that a pretty happy that we can avoid relegation. Then strengthen majorly next year when the money comes in.

Thanks man! It’s all about staying up. There isn’t a lot of transfer funds available due to last years big spend but should manage the 4 players I need.

I will screen shot them later tonight when am on.

Nothing special. both in swinging corners and both mixed delivery. suppose its about having the right players attacking the right area. Best two headers attack front and back. Best off the ball attack from edge best long shots edge best strength jumping and bravery keeper. two second best header each post. just seems to have worked.

Christian tue hands in transfer request!!! Lahm says I made you son! 30 million asking price slapped on his head. Bayern and Leverkusen still intrested. Lahm wants to get him back on side as he see no replacement able to come in and do the job as good

Summer Window

Out

cd21770171aee7480f61eb2047f5cd81.png

A long hard summer after Christian Tue And Nikolas Nartey both handed in transfer requests. They did however generate nearly 50 million in transfer fee. Considering Nartey was a Bosman that's incredible business.

a7902d1020527ae0271dcf9e7f4dfc9b.png

It was actually 8 million the record was broke with the Tue deal. 38 million the record was broken by. Lahm showing he has the business brain as well as the tactical mind. Buying players with sell on value.

Philipp Lahm

"It was a tough summer for us as two of the best players and key to our style of play moved on we got good deals for them but it shows we still have a long way to go to get back to were we belong we are still a selling club at the minute. But am very happy with the business over the summer and the club is a lot healthier and we can invest in the infrastructure and long term future of the club"

53bda9020acfcf21a006d8f6c7fafce2.png

4e069ffa7ce8b10ed1fb40cc1925461d.png

Lahm chose to move on a lot of young players who hadn't made the step up. Lippert wanted to leave and Vrhovec wouldn't make the step up to the Bundesliga. Sadly Christian Tue and Nikolas Nartey were unsettled both by Leverkusen and handed in Requests.

b2c73d4dcee65efc50d50c3a0e87890e.png

a79a5bcfad4b705e8d455a60ecd799cf.png

The Tue deal smashes the club record by 20 million.

In

3c0828f70e0013b66f55b56ba0619885.png

Total of 16 million was spent in the window which isn't bad when you consider Lahm brought in 40 million. A spread of players as well rather than blowing the budget on big fees.

5d87a7502d0d7096c48741217c10a377.png

A striker who can come short to link play was on Phillip Lahm's wish list and Kaj Sierhuis fits that bill a bargain from ajax gives a good option if Lahm has to employ a certain tactical plan.

b4badef6333772e50b5e40d2728e7386.png

Lahm stated he need competition for Spalvis and he has found it in Dejan Joveljic after he activated his 1.8 million release clause. With his physicals being superior to Spalvis he gives a different option going in behind albeit Spalvis is the better finisher he provides Lahm with what he needs.

a8027348cde027fe0603e206f4f4aa35.png

Upgrade at left back cover as Killian Jakob joins Lahm's ranks from Augsburg a solid buy and can still improve needs work mentally but he is still relatively young at 23 and learning the game at this level. Mings has serious competition now.

bf017a70f7348a72bcac53a64123475c.png

A cover option Adam Jakobsen comes in after the sale of Tue. The talented Gronli will move into first choice with this young Dane pushing him for a place. Jakobsen is hard working and capable of breaking from midfield and providing a finish.

a9b6012e13de1632dc737cdd9102e8aa.png

A player Lahm watched come through the youth ranks during his playing days at Bayern Munich. He has long been an admirer of Niklas Dorsch. He is likely going to be the long term replacement of Mads "Maestro" Albaek. Lahm is quoted as saying

"Niklas I have know for many years he was always a stand out talent and a very intelligent footballer"

647d85eae40531c9ecc2ac633a5088d4.png

The deal of the summer for Lahm sees Fran Beltran arrive after requesting a transfer at Sevilla. He is Nartey's replacement and he is a far more complete midfielder than Nartey he could go on to be a leading player in the Bundesliga. 4m upfront and 4 million in clauses a superb bit of business.

Staff Signings

76d5e7dcc5bedd68b91dd0a37fb91e53.png

A lot of staff movement as Kaiserslautern step up a level.

ea8a975f2da7389b32738258b5b721b9.png

It was time for change after a poor intake. Lahm looked far and wide and decided on taking a chance on a man with an every growing reputation in football Kristjaan Speakman he is held in high regard when it comes to player development. Lahm had been in talks with Volker Kersting the German mastermind but he thought he would try something new by bringing the Englishmen in.

4fc93cc23cf4d1e12162c5bde1ecb0e8.png

With Philipp Lahm's recent additions to his coaching staff Kaiserslautern are regard to have the best coaching staff in the league the former German captain has slowly built his team and now seems happy with the balance he has. It is rumoured he is now pushing for facilities to match his coaching staffs ambitions.

379d2655f515b8722c9cccb03f4a6df6.png

The Tue and Nartey money is reinvested into the club as the facilities all look to be improved by the end of next year.

"The club is continuing to grow we made money in the summer and myself and the board agreed to spilt it between playing squad and facilities. If we can remain in the top flight this will only strengthen our chances of full revival of this massive club"

Thanks mate. Em well it’s abit of everything. I’ve always been Drawn to Norway Denmark and Sweden for players no matter who i am. So I always send scouts there and Ive also managed in Norway 2 seasons ago so have an idea of good players from that time.

Another technique I often use is going threw under21 and under 19 national sides looking for players and scout ones I like the look off. Can take time but often you can find a decent player.

Then of course  there is the transfer list, loan list and expiring contract list

Once I unlock all the attributes from the scouting I will possibly watch some highlights of the player just for a final check.

Sounds brilliant :D I don't normally scout the Scandinavians regions, due to scouts keep saying they aren't good enough.

You are tempting me to manage in Germany :D Might start with Frankfurt.

I don’t always take the scouts opinion. If I look at attributes and I think they match what am looking for but the scouts don’t rate him I’ll look at games myself. And more than likely still go for him. Unless he’s poor in games.

Great place to manage. You could try get Hamburg back up from relegation. Massive club has some great youth!

Frankfurt obviously have some great history as well! And a massive team

I am not really too keen on Hamburg :D Went for Frankfurt for no reason, I think they kind of need rebuilding, as some players are over 30s.

Will be looking at Norway and Belgium for hard bargains ;) Got both leagues loaded up :D

Pre Season

7fcbfb46392ed7a5a6d9a227960ee2da.png

A solid pre season for Kaiserslautern as they took on some of the best teams in Europe in order to prepare for the challenge of the Bundesliga. The most notable results were a 3-2 victory against the cash rich Paris Saint-Germain along with beating there French counterparts and Ligue 1 champions As Monaco 2-1 before snatching a draw against the biggest club in the world Manchester United. Tactically Philipp Lahm deployed some new tactical ideas for the season ahead.

Going by pre season Philipp Lahm has stuck with his usual 433 as his main attacking system along with his 4411 which he usually uses on the road or when holding on. But in pre season Lahm deployed a 4132 for the first time in his managerial career a system suited for dominating the middle of the park he may feel he needs a different option with the step up in opponent this year.

Bundesliga Preview

fc9008dd57ce853d97b613e0e49768f1.png

The bookmakers at Voetbalzone make Kaiserslautern second favourite for the drop Philipp Lahm appears to have a task on his hand to keep his side up.

2b26f4ec1328651134f4415257a4fb45.png

The opening day will provide Lahm's side with there first big test back in the big time with Borussia Dortmund coming to the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. The Sudwest derby is second on the list as Kaiserslautern travel to Eintracht Frankfurt. A couple of early must win games are up next as Cologne and Werder Bremen who are expected to be battling around us come back to back. Then its onto the capital to take on Hertha Berlin.

5e6ac77931ac8211290d8f85a735fe5f.png

Although Kaiserslautern are miles behind in terms of wage budget in the league but Lahm has to remember this is there first year back and the club most avoid making the same mistakes as before. Match day revenue will hopefully increase as the club cements its place back in the top flight. All this aside the club is in a healthy position but survival will be key to continue this and finally get this German giant back to its best.

Early Season

2724fdfdb0558f762d1669884611778b.png

Philipp Lahm and his Kaiserslautern side were welcomed back to the Bundesliga with a sell out at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. It wasn't to be the fairy tale return as Dortmund showed there strength and won 3-1.

Sudwest Derby

01d2f6e7b2b9fd95f4f3daba1e4f9bcd.png

A first taste of the Sudwest derby was instore next for Phillip Lahm and his boys the clubs haven't met since 2011. Club icon and German Legend Miroslav Klose has reminded the Kaiserslautern players how important this game is to the fans.

43beeac4089ac831ebdbf87a54ed41a6.png

47a60ee9b7b47f803617220ac43c292d.png

fantastic result in this first Sudwest derby from Philipp Lahm's side. Very evenly matched throughout both sides made chances and finished the half with a goal each. Goalkeeper Hadzikic kept Frankfurt at bay while Gronli smashed home a wonder strike to give Kaiserslautern the upper hand before Joveljic got his first goal to seal the 3 points.

b13fc0adb6939384348bbe4b53337655.gif

Some finish worthy of giving any team a lead in the derby. Lahm has laid down the challenge to Gronli to cement his place in the starting 11 at he so far is rising to it.

fd2b6339e74633d939f44ebfaf1ee53b.png

Kaiserslautern snatched a point in the very last kick of the ball at Cologne. Then Werder Bremen arrived at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion were Lahm's side came from behind twice to seal another point. Both these games were labelled must win at the start of the season so Lahm will more than likely be unhappy. A trip to the capital were Hertha Berlin brushed aside the newly promoted side.

dab8398468292a74df155177b58c9a62.png

Philipp how do you feel the first 5 games have went in the clubs return to the Bundesliga

"I feel the first 5 games have had some positives and some negatives. I think the derby win is vital for the fans but the draws aren't good enough if we are to stay competitive in the league"

Why do you think the club did drop points in the two vital matches against Cologne and Bremen?

"I think we showed teams maybe to much respect we didn't look our usual attacking self that is partly my fault employing deeper tactics and a different strategy but also the players are still adapting to the level and will take time to grow in confidence"

Looking forward should we expect to see the team return to attacking football?

"We are at our best attacking there is no doubt about that but its about balance the players have now had 5 games and are bedding in so I expect us to kick on and start showing our game"

Thanks Philipp

Kaiserslautern clearly found another gear with back to back 4-0 wins. Philipp lahm reverting to his more favoured attacking style of play paid off. Interestingly new signing Fran Beltran was man of the match both games and grabbed himself 3 goals all from outside the area. Lahm then masterminded a draw and a great point on the road in Leverkusen with Gronli firing in his 4th of the season in truth it was a poor game.

These pair haven't met since 2011 where Mainz won 4-0 in the Bundesliga. So no wonder the fans have sold out the Fritz-Walter-Stadion as Phillip Lahm and Kaiserslautern seek revenge for the last meeting in the Bundesliga.

Sensational performance as a packed Fritz-Walter-Stadion watched Kaiserslautern completely dominate there rivals from start to finish. On another day Philip lahm's side could have scored ten but some poor finishing let them down. 1 shot on target from the visitors highlights how well the defence played.

c2616487fc8e1a3257c9635fb2ddf1bf.gif

Some nice midfield passing put Mainz on the back foot before a mazy run from Dejan Joveljic and finish sent the home fans into raptures and sealed the 3 points.

The 10th league game finished 3-0 at Wolfsburg a massive result. Since changing back to attacking team Phillip lahm and Kaiserslautern have really excelled scoring 14 goals and conceding only 1 sublime stats.

What a start for Kaiserslautern in amongst the big boys at the top. Borussia Dortmund are the only team to score more goals than Kaiserslautern. The only team with better goal difference is the Champions Bayern Munich. its Bayer Leverkusen who have started off slow.

Easy tie expected for the Bundesliga side but they will have to make sure they don't become complacent. Phillip Lahm is expected to give some youngsters a run out.

The youngsters shone in particular Tim Bitzer-Hinz he scored 2 and by doing so became the clubs youngest goalscorer and the DFB Pokal record holder now.

Union Berlin knocked out the kids in the second round. Philipp lahm will be disappointed after last years run but means he can concentrate on Bundesliga survival.

The unbeaten run comes to a end and in sickening fashion for Philipp Lahm. Two good draws came against RB Leipzig and Schalke 04 with both sides expected to be challenging at the top of the Bundesliga am sure Philipp Lahm will be delighted. A late goal from Stuttgart denied a big 3 points away from home after being 2 up it is considered a poor result.

b1077be327544c94a9f7ae0c4643579d.png

Borussia Monchengladbach was a similar problem as they scored on 95 minutes to put themselves top of the Bundesliga. A draw would have been a fair result but Marco Freidl fired in a 95 minute freekick.

It was an emotional return to the Bavarian capital for Phillip lahm who spent his entire career at the German powerhouse and went on to become a club legend. His side lost 1-0 against Bayern Munich who are looking to win there 10th Bundesliga title in a row. The first time Kaiserslautern have suffered back to back defeats this season. Big 3 points picked up on the road at Hoffenheim with a comfortable 2-0 win. Hamburg visited the Fritz-Walter-Stadion next.

A real battle at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion finished with Lahm's side coming out on top after falling behind to a wonder goal. but it was young Dominik Aures that sealed the 3 points with a lovely timed run and emphatic finish in his first league appearance in front of the Kaiserslautern faithful what a moment for the academy graduate who is touted to be the next Jurgen Klinsmann.

Another sell out Sudwest Derby this time its home advantage to Kaiserslautern who will be looking for there third win on the bounce and looking for a strong finish before the winter break. Frankfurt on the other hand will be looking for revenge for the defeat earlier in the season in the first Sudwest Derby in 10 years.

Philipp lahm's side again dominated there rivals. A nice move down the left from Killian Jakob who crossed for Joveljic who nipped in front of the defender for his 8th of the season. Robin Hack smashed home after a great counter attack in front of the infamous Westkurve stand. Fran Beltran smashed home in typical style for the 3rd.

What a hit he loves to hammer them! Christian Tue who? Fran Beltran is the man!

a49c38090d778ec3971ba59d2f81c186.png

Very mixed 8 games for Kaiserslautern started with some strong draws before 3 poor results then 3 big wins that gets them back on track as the winter break hits.

Bundesliga table at the winter break will make good reading for Philipp Lahm the Kaiserslautern manager sitting in 5th place 15 points clear of the relegation spots which they were tipped to be. Gladbach, Munich and Dortmund are battling it out for top spot with only 3 points separating the 3 sides. Wolfsburg are the shock in the bottom 3 tipped to be challenging for the European spots.

Philipp Lahm signs a new deal at Kaiserslautern keeping him at the club until 2026 its comes after recent speculation of RB Leipzig approaching him for the vacant managers job after Julian Nagelsmann was sacked. On agreeing his new deal Lahm has now began studying for his continental pro license.

The club confirmed a new link with Jeju United in South Korea. Try to expand the Kaiserslautern brand in Asia.

Sigurd Gronli who has made the step up to the Bundesliga effortless has been awarded a new bumper deal. He has become the most improved player in the squad the season he also swooped the Norwegian players player of the year award.

With the arrival of Kristjaan Speakman comes rumours of a first golden generation since Lahm's appointment. This goes to show lahm was right to bring the Englishmen in even if he lacked knowledge in German football he has hit the ground running.

517777241944398adc3c76bb003fcc65.png

It might be rumoured as a golden generation but I real lack of determination is worrying for Lahm. Himself, Speakman and Sinsa Suker the under 19's manager will have to get to work on this right away.

69128a224e2dae9e1e14121b6aea55a9.png

Carlo Gori was labelled the diamond of the group by Speakman. At 15 he definitely has a chance hopefully he can work on that personality and determination to make sure he reaches his potential.

e73a54bd410f8fee0314251e0ee9de01.png

Mircea Oana is Phillip Lahm's one to watch the 14 year old who is half Romanian has a caught his eye already in just a few training sessions. He is already professional at this young age and in particular is work rate is outstanding.

Former Academy Graduates

Dominik Aures was promoted to the first team at the start of this season by Phillip Lahm although still made available for under 19's games. He has played 10 games 2 starts and 8 sub appearances and scored 3 goals one being the winner against Hamburg. Touted as the next Jürgen Klinsmann he has a lot to live up to but he has the pace and finish ability to go a long way in the game.

Tim Bitzer-Hinz was also promoted by Lahm at the start of the season again made available for the 19's. He has made 6 first team appearances all being starts though. Dubbed the new Bernd Schuster this kid has the potential to be come a creative cog in Lahm's side for years to come.

The Final Third

2827379ec4d9133a310c5330d75d9fc3.png

After the winter break things took a turn for the worse after two good results against Dortmund and Cologne the wheels came off leaving Philipp lahm scratching his head. Losses to Bremen, Hertha and Nurnberg brought Kaiserslautern back down to earth. A 2-2 draw at Hannover looked like it could spark a revival but time would only tell.

e21cbaa79643b7fe32c5fcdf0d1457f1.png

7cbb42c68d6bf3f6cace025920e8a993.gif

A game of two half's as they say. Superb fight back from Lahm's side in the second half but it was Dortmund or should I say Nico Elvedi and Rajkovic who threw away the 3 points with a shocking own goal.

Rheinland-Pfalz Derby

d78a9fb40fadb4d04db2b4895a6453c1.png

After a 2-2 draw against Leverkusen it was the Derby up next I close game is expected. Phillip Lahm boasts a 100% record in every derby since he took to the helm at Kaiserslautern he will be looking to continue this phenomenal record.

2e7429394403742e60f6b4536bd40048.png

Talk about entertaining football what a match. Philipp Lahm will be cursing his sides collapse after coming from behind to lead and thus losing his 100% derby record.

d09ab8505ea034fc4f336d97c538d602.png

4-0 win at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion against Wolfsburg showed promise before a great point at RB Leipzig then beating Schalke 04 things were looking good before a shocking defeat to Stuttgart were Joveljic missed 8 minute penalty to get Lahm's side off to a flyer.

54254537_leaguetable.thumb.png.c1e12548386e21f3dc8615d6684e36cd.png

7af3899f41005a7f66f8ba2fb06cd4cf.png

Despite Kaiserslautern's inconsistent form they still occupy 8th in the table which considering they were tipped for relegation at the start of the season is still a good season to date. Very tight table with 7 teams all capable of sneaking into that last Europa league slot.

86ea271b236640834a85babe19f67adc.png

The last 4 games of the season couldn't be much tougher for Philipp lahm's side two games in a row against title challengers in Gladbach then Bayern followed by two teams in and around them chasing that last European slot. Hoffenheim are up first before the final game of the season at Hamburg.

The Finale

ed6940a4cc46b7e99616af7ba935c896.png

A late winner at Gladbach all but crushed Lahm's sides European dream. Bayern Munich showed there former captain no sympathy by hammering his side. Hoffenheim have piled on the misery by snatching a 1-0 win at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Finally a 1-1 draw at Hamburg concludes a horrible last 4 games for games for Kaiserslautern.

10th place is a very respectable finish for Kaiserslautern's return to the Bundesliga couldn't quite match the feat of the 97/98 team which won it on there return. Dortmund put a stop to Bayern's 10 in a row. Hannover, cologne and Wolfsburg all drop down to the Bundesliga 2. The biggest shock is Schalke 04 who handed Mauricio Pochettino the job in December couldn't turn them around and they nearly fell into the relegation places.

Awards

5689f7b625f00107d47856763570fde7.png

Lewandowski takes the top goalscorer award with 22 goals. Dejan Joveljic has a very productive first season in the Bundesliga in his first year at the club hitting 16 league goals. Munir who stuck a few past Lahm's side also netted 16.

0a2c56f474dd32d43842a1cf2a3c41e9.png

Fran Beltran should have swept all the awards no idea how one of his screamers was beaten by Joveljic's goal. Its a fantastic goal winning the ball and running from his half but he only has the keeper to beat feel like we scored better goals.

Kovac is sacked after missing out on ten in a row. Phillip Lahm will surely be quoted but at this stage I feel its maybe to soon for the Kaiserslautern boss. He has a plan there and its in full flow and he is gaining valuable experience I don't think he would risk his reputation at Bayern from his playing days just yet. He has only been a head coach for 4 years.

Summer Transfer Window

1217b0f22258d3e50ac25009aac13b13.png

Phillip Lahm and his recruitment team worked hard to get 6 players signed before the window even opened therefore 6 players arrive on the opening of the deadline.

950916f10fa9dad534afe97769b745fd.png

Declan Rice arrives in Germany for a fee of 7.75 million. Phillip Lahm targeted the young Englishmen towards the end of last season with lahm looking for more steal in the middle of the park. The England cap had requested a transfer after a fall out a West Ham United.

abe518dd05b52c7ead3ea9c4ad117c5f.png

Luc Etoundi the biggest outlay of the summer as 8 million is spent on young German under 21 international. A gamble some would say Phillip Lahm has taken with such a large fee on a promising player. He has put faith in his scouting team who reckon he is to become one of the best right back in Germany.

f774240e50765edba0000609389716cc.png

Jeong Woo-Yeong ex Bayern Munich academy prospect who has plied his trade in the Bundesliga 2 with Union Berlin for the last 3 seasons joins for a very modest fee. Technically very gifted and will provide good solid competition to Florent Muslija. Also being South Korean will help with the clubs quest to expand in Asia with the link already set with a Jeju United there.

ecb87ba93ab32c33d571b0a86df8affb.png

Kemal Sevim joins Kaiserslautern this summer and the young Turkish wide man has lots of raw attributes that could potentially lead him to becoming a leading wide player in the Bundesliga. Whereas Phillip Lahm isn't sure how he is going to deploy the young man. He has stated he sees lots of Thomas Muller who Lahm played with at Bayern and Germany for years.

1b2345e1c7c1e737fcf61a66524036ef.png

Thore Pauli swaps Bundesliga 2 champions Augsburg for Philipp Lahm's side. The young German winger gives lahm's wide play a much needed extra dimension as he is a out and out winger. Still has a lot to do to realise his potential one for the future one would presume.

b7fadaf05447fdb7fd66e7bc8d557ff3.png

Simon Asta joined the club and then was loaned out to SC Paderborn. He was meant to join in January to cover for the injured Niklas Kreuzer but he didn't make the deadline. He has now been sent to gain some much needed first team experience.

ecef124c23f01edd5581b2aed26f9672.png

Benedikt Gimber arrives from relegate Cologne a solid old school defender. Phillip Lahm has turned to him to shore up the defensive issues in the second half of last season. The only problem being his arrival upset Fredrik Knudsen who now wants away.

4aaf70c38c775c1df12f65dce02090c4.png

Outgoings see a few younger players sent on loan for game time. Kreuzer, Fechner, Jakobsen, Gul and Goal scoring legend from the lower levels Lukas Spalvis all wanted away after a lack of game time last season. Sad to see players leave that played a big part in the revival of the club but Philipp lahm cant guarantee game time for these players. Fredrik Knudsen was trailed by Bremen all summer and when Gimber arrived he didn't take well to the fact Lahm had brought in competition so he was moved on for 4.5 million profit.

Kaiserslautern are still expected to battle relegation in there second season in the Bundesliga. The opening fixture is massive Sudwest Derby to kick off the season followed by two tough games at home with Hoffenheim up first then Bayern Munich. Lahm still hasn't avoided defeat against Bayern the club he spent all his playing career at. The last 2 Games sees battles against Nuremburg and Bochum who are also tipped for relegation.

Big crowd expected as ever for these battles. Few players missing for Philipp Lahm especially top goal scorer last season Dejan Joveljic who is still banned from last season.

429faf576a0fb951ac2b7949285281d0.png

Tough one for Lahm to take as his side gift there rivals the points. A shocking back pass from Jean Zimmer gave the hosts the lead. Lahm went for it but it wasn't to be and Salcedo headed home a corner to seal the points for Frankfurt.

923e062d3537b5c8b62f9802f6f81e74.png

A great 4-1 win in the first home match of the season against Hoffenheim followed the derby disappointment. Lahm's poor record against Bayern continues as they sneak a 1-0 win. Sigurd Gronli rescued a point at Nuremburg before a 3 game winning streak starting with surprise table toppers Bochum who have started the season in sublime form then away trips to Stuttgart and Hannover end in success.

A professional performance from Phillip Lahm's side he did go full strength showing he does mean business in the cup this year.

1ee397abdb46d1220dbd726265f4273d.png

The draw throws up a Badisch-Pfalzisches Derby which will be a stern test for Lahm's boys especially at the Stadion Karlsruhe.

4 defeats on the bounce sees Kaiserslautern plummet in the league. RB Leipzig, Hamburg, Dortmund and Gladbach are all great sides but Lahm will feel hard done by considering 3 of the results were 1-0 defeats and Hamburg was 2-2 with ten to go so maybe better performances than results would suggest. Bremen visited the Fritz-Walter-Stadion and left with a point after a 1-1 draw.

Rheinland-Pfalz Derby

1720ee2171d727746f3507a00ebc7f27.png

The Derby provides Phillip Lahm with a chance to stop the rot. Mainz form has picked up recently but they have struggled to reach the heights of last season just yet.

A Gronli freekick on the stroke of half time sealed the much needed 3 points for Kaiserslautern. Regarded as a Free kick specialist we don't see enough of this from Gronli but he is more than capable as we can see here stated Philipp Lahm after the game.

c623b4cf4299a24031babf1e46bf2a7d.png

The first 14 games in total is a very mixed bag for Kaiserslautern so far. They now go into an extended winter break due to the World Cup being Played In Qatar. No competitive game for 70 days is rather a strange ordeal.

8c8653a62e821bc963163aa2e340343e.png

If the extended winter break was strange the league table is surreal. Bayern Munich are in the relegation spots after 14 games while Bochum who were promoted this year are in 4th. Kaiserslautern sit 10th the same position as they finished last season only 5 points away from Bayern but only 3 behind Bochum talk about a tight league.

A dominant win for Kaiserslautern who over powered there opponents. The early goal set the tone for the day and set the team on there way. It could have maybe been a nervous injury time but Osman Hadzikic foiled that with a penalty save.
