Sorry I don't know where this should be posted but would really appreciate an answer..

Basically my new laptop has developed a fault and will either need a full reset or a new laptop sent out - I hadn't used Steam before FM19 or had FM since 2012 and so my question is, having not created a cloud save is my save only on my laptop hard drive? As I have no idea I was hoping it may be saved to my steam account but I am guessing not. Thanks

It's only on your laptop in the mydocuments/sports interactive directory. It should be possible to backup it from your harddisk as all other data, by a computer specialist.

Unless you specified otherwise, your save game will be stored in the SI folder in your Documents folder.  transfer it to a usb stick then reinstall the game through your steam account and then access the usb stick when it comes to the load game screen.

Unfortunately I can't access any data.. stuck on a 'preparing automatic repair' and it's got to the point where my options are setting the laptop back to before FM beta was released or full factory reset. Only intended to start a short save before Full release but got far too into it, oh well.

The data will still be stored on your HD. (If those parts are not overwritten, when the system was reset.) For something more important it could be probably recovered. :)

the easiest way is to remove the hard drive from the laptop and plug it into another pc as a data disk.

once there you should be able to access all data that was on it unless it was corrupt/broken. then it would take specialist recovery methods which might become expensive.

free tools and the like are usable but not recommended.

Sounds like there is an issue on the hard drive and that may make data recovery difficult.  If the only thing lost is your FM save, given that there will be some data changes when the full game is released, then perhaps it will better to start a new save on the new hard drive

Confirmed that the laptop is not fixable at home.. has to be sent for repair which will take at least 2 weeks, unbelievable with view to the purchase being primarilly for Football manager release.

Looks like I'm getting FMM again this year!
