If you can wait, pcspecialist and mysn will have a 14 incher with a i7-6700HQ, DDR4 RAM, SSD + HDD, 1920x1080 IPS screen and a GTX 970M in it, in January. Obviously a machine that can handle much more demanding (graphics-wise) games than just FM. Guestimated price of £1.000 - 1.100 ... maybe. Guestimated on the basis on what a similar 15.6 inch machine costs from these dealers. The same machine is already in several European sites; here's one Norwegian. (Because I know them best). As I already own the similar spec'd 15.6 incher, if you have any questions about it, just shoot.

Great thanks, do you think it would be ok to run fm for the next 3-4 years?

I know a piece of string is twice as long as half it's length.

Honestly. All computers can run all leagues, all nations and a large database.

It's how effective they do it is the question - which is ambiguous.

It will run a fair few - it's trial and error, load the nations and leagues you want and see if it's running fast enough for you. 5 second delay to one person is long, and short for another. Just as a putting your hand on a red hot plate for 5 seconds seems like 5 minutes, but put your arm around a beautiful man/woman for 5 minutes and it feels like 5 seconds...

It's all relative.

Been looking for a new laptop and came across this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/CB-CZ5840-1010SP-Cube-Chameleon-CZ-5840_1811157.html

Mainly gonna be used for FM, streaming, web browsing so I could get away with buying something cheaper it seems, as I wasn't planning on spending this much. However, this ticks all the boxes and seems to have an awesome processor. So I guess my question is, is this a bargain or am I spending that extra cash on something that isn't worth it? Is there anything out there that's similar/better for less or should I pay the extra for this?

Cheers for any help.

Sorry - I feel your budget is too low for your expectations.

You could get a better laptop for your money than that. Try looking on online shops opposed to looking at high street shops.

Hi all,

Sorry for the (probably) silly question. I'm graphics card illiterate for the most part. Storage and processor speed are all good on my laptop, but unsure about my graphics card.

I have a MacBook Pro early 2011 with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card.

Am I out of luck for FM16?

Thanks.

Had problems with monitor. It will just go off and no signal comes up before screen goes black and orange light to indicate its in standby. I disconnected hdmi/dvi cable from both monitor and PC and tried it in another slot and nothing then in another and it come back on until now when it went off again. This time I plugged dvi into monitor and hdmi into PC and it come on. Anyone know why it's doing this?

Help guys! I need to know a couple of things:

1) Is this laptop good enough to run FM16 to a good/high standard? http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/3309825/searchTerm/ZOOSTORM.htm

2) I have made a few changes in Editor such as managerial changes etc. Would they be automatically be saved to my steam account so would be present on a new laptop or would they disappear?

3) Any other laptops that you can recommend at max £600? I want FM to run quick, smooth and to load about six or so nations.

Cheers for any help guys!... oh and Merry Christmas!

1) it will run nations, but not extremely fast.. the concern would be that it's a zoostorm, whose laptops in particular aren't build too great, so bare in mine that is what you are buying. Read some reviews and judge for yourself

2) Editor changes aren't saved by default to the cloud, save them from your old laptop on a usb stick or something and transfer them over.

3) for other recommendations, check out the earlier posts even on this page, pretty much better than the zoostorm one.

If people need specific recommendations, they need to start giving more info on requirements.. are you using it just for fm? or for other games etc?

More info and it saves people time

I bought FM 2016 a few days ago and the Computer Performance and Game Speed are at half a star. From what I've seen me laptop specs (below) I have should be more than enough

Acer Aspire E5-521

Windows 10

AMD Quad-Core Processor A6-6310

AMD Radeon R4 Graphics

6GB DDR3 L Memory

1TB HDD

There aren't any other games on the laptop that would affect performance, since they're all older games, certainly no current gen. Any advice?

Link to post

The star system is just an indicator of performance based on a snapshot of the load your laptop is under at that time.. so I wouldn't read into it too much

Just see how the game actually plays for you.. if there are any speed issues, come back to us... having said that.. the cpu is probably on par with a midrange i3, so half a star isn't that far of, AMD's don't make great use of multi core use either.

Link to post

As I said, it gives an indication of performance... which by the way, is subjective anyway..

A game running slow for me, might seem perfectly fine for you.

Any idea why I get no signal on monitor. Screen usually goes black for about 10 mins then it comes back on? Although now it's not even doing that.

Link to post

Check the connections.. it's probably something physical.. if the connections seem fine, try and plug in a different monitor to check if the issue is computer side or monitor side..

Plugged it into TV yesterday and at first game was on but it was about 10 mins after it went off. So when it went off again I tried it straight away but no picture. Even tried other connectors but still nothing. Not sure if its graphics card. Also only fan running is on graphics card. One on motherboard isn't working. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though.

anyone got any thoughts on this? http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/desktop-pcs/desktop-pcs/lenovo-ideacentre-aio-700-23-8-touchscreen-all-in-one-pc-10138332-pdt.html

wanting an all in one to save space - but still wanting maximum power, just a bit concerned as to why its cheaper than other similar models, is graphic or memory rubbish? any advice would be helpful

like to play with around 6 or 7 leagues with about 80,000 players at the start

Seems fine for the price to me. The processor is good, the GTX 650M card is a decent mid-level card capable of handling FM graphics quite well - perhaps not absolutely fluid at the highest settings though. RAM is fine; 12 GB DDR4 - no objections there. Maybe the screen is a cheaper TN type LCD screen; that may drop the price a bit compared to other similar systems that comes with more expensive IPS displays. And there's no SSD of course; other similar systems may have one of those, adding to the total price.

Got FM16 for Xmas :) so now I'm looking to upgrade my laptop (my current one has got old and has a habit of overheating now with FM15)...however I don't really know what I should be looking for so any help would be appreciated?

Laptop is generally used for browsing internet, music and FM. I'm usually browsing or something while playing FM. I do run large player databases with a lot of players, however I nearly always watch on only commentary so not at all bother about the graphics!

Ideally looking to spend 300-350, but will spend a bit more if it is worth it for a better laptop.

Don't know whether an i3 processor would be enough or if I should be looking at least an i5?

Also is there a big difference between 4gb & 8gb of RAM?

Thanks for any help :)

It is IPS... and the system is fine, decent price for an all in one too.

£300-£400 is nearer the lower end of the scale but in no means a bad budget for a laptop for FM use...

an i3 would be fine, but i'm sure you could stretch to a low to midrange i5 and improve things a little...

For this version of FM and beyond I would suggest 8gb minimum if you are looking to play a large database and browse at the same time etc.

Th... that is a brilliant price actually... as long as you aren't bothered about the integrated graphics (which are enough for fm anyway really) .. you won't find much better for less than £400... good find sir.

What I would say though... is that January sales are coming soon, so you may want to wait ...

Even a rubbish supplier like Very are having decent discounts this early with stuff like THIS

Yeah might be and issue with the board itself.. contract the retailer detailing what is happening.. they will either advice you on what to do or send out a new system for you.

What might do first is try my old graphics card and if its doesn't go off then i know what the problem is.

Well ive put old card in and so far it hasn`t gone off once so i think i`ve found the problem. also got fan on motherboard working, it wasn`t plugged in properly.

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a new 13" laptop that would be both portable (from the thinner and lighter end of the spectrum) and able to run FM16 smoothly at the same time. I would like it to run the 3D engine (doesn't have to be with full graphics options on, though) and with a moderate database (maybe something like 10-15 leagues).

I have put my eyes on Asus UX303UA (http://www.amazon.com/ZenBook-UX303UA-13-3-Inch-Touchscreen-Windows/dp/B014VHW24Y) with Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3GHz, 256GB SSD Storage and 8GB RAM. I would really appreciate an experienced opinion on whether it would run FM16 smoothly, or should I turn my attention to somewhere else instead (keeping up with the 13" size)?

Many thanks already!

EDIT: HP Envy 13-d004no with almost identical specs is another option I've been considering...

A slight concern would be heat management, keep an eye on system temps if you decide to run more leagues than you mentioned.

Other than that it's a nice looking bit of kit with a solid punch.

Hey guys, just in the market for a small, budget (~$500) laptop to use mainly just for FM and the usual internet browsing.

For game play I usually load 5-6 nations with most divisions and a large database, and looking for something which will run quick and smoothly. Not all that concerned for 3D graphics and such, but would like the general game play to run at a good speed. Not very knowledgeable on what is needed/useful and like I said, its main purpose is for the occasional FM binge.

Looking around ive come across:

Suggestions??

Just ordered a MacBook Pro,

2.8 Ghz i7

16GB SDRAM

512GB Flash Storage

Iris Pro Graphics+AMD Radeon R9 with 2GB

Pretty excited about running FM16 on it, I've been running FM up to FM16 on my 2007 MacBook Pro. It freezes up some times, but it's time to update since I'm starting online classes in Jan.
