FM 20 Tactic List and FM 19 Recommended Tactic List

Recommended Posts

The CA of test teams have been reduced to CA 160 and CA 135

So far best top CA 160 result is BLACK ECHO

I'm guessing this is the Black Echo from the recommended list?

I've never put too much time into investigating the whole tactic testing thing and it seems erroneously my presumption of it just being a test of how well an assistant manager can guide your team was wrong. So perhaps someone can educate me.

Are the foundations of these tests being done on the basis that your squad goes into every single game of the season at 100% fitness, 100% match condition, best morale, no fatigue/jadedness presumably among other things by "freezing" players?

Wouldn't that automatically create an enormously and falsely positive impression of any high intensity tactic that is completely unrealistic to what the end user will get with it in the game? If you're coming through a period of games whereby you're playing every 3 days on average for a few weeks but your team has zero negative impacts from a defeat (ie morale) and zero impacts from the demands of just playing football but all your opposition do then its definitely skewing the outcome.

There are many test leagues out there, which one is best is hard to tell you. What I know is which are the faults.

1. A test league contains teams with different CA & Reputation - trying to imitate a normal save; but in a large scale.

2. All players within the league is frozen. Attributes, Morale, Match Sharpness, Injuries and many more. Why? Trying to elimanate every possible negative factor for a tactic. It's tactics we test.

3. One of the biggest fault from Mr. L is that having DB & Save file for public. Let me guess the first fault from inexperienced user: Didn't changed Assistant Manager Status via FMRTE to Legend (so, basically is the perfect AM for going on holiday).

4. The more matches, the better. Think a casino. It's different to spin one time and it's different to spin eighty times; basically that's how casinos made money by the way. Why this? To get a better idea how X tactic will perform in short and long term; but basically in long term.

====

With what I don't agree is with T.L:

- Test leagues is split on Top or Underdogs teams or Elite or Team A or whatever. There is a logic behind this, but sometimes those teams seems unrealistic (IMHO).

- Ranking system. Basically all T.L is based on PPG, GD.

This game sometimes!!!

Headhunted by Monaco in my second season. Started like a house on fire winning 13 of the first 14 including beating PSG 5-1 and conceeding only 4 in the process. Using one of Knaps recommended 442's.

3 of the next 5 matches are against teams in the bottom 4. Lost 4, won 1 including getting done 5-0 against newly promoted Le Harve. No massive rotation, no issues with morale, in fact the exact opposite!

I appreciate top teams can be beaten by bottom of the league but come on! It's the equivalent to Liverpool starting the season the way they did then over Christmas they lose to Norwich, Bournemouth and Villa.

Safe to say it has been switched off for the night and in 2 minds as to whether to pick up tomorrow or start yet another new save elsewhere.

Please tell me i am not the only one this type of thing happens to???

Rant over.

@Sith Lord it’s less to do with tactics and more to do with the ME sucking dead donkeys.

I wouldn't mind but the season before when my Toulouse side were punching well above their weight and in second chasing PSG, PSG dropped 4 points ALL season. Where is the match engine realism there???

I get your point though. I often do better against the good sides and fail against the bad in FM20. It can be infuriating.

i think similar too. i guess it just creates an idea of which tactic is strong against the ME for users? But this was basically my concern, if you want, about testing too. Even with the opponents players frozen i think it still benefits us (users) if using a very high intensity tactic.

@Cadoni what about a test without things being 100%? or no point in that? i think maybe having 90-93% fitness, and good-very good morale may be a truer representation of a normal save.

@RDF Tactics

A normal save would not play 82 games in a season without any rotation.

Losing 3 games at the beginning of a test would probably have a larger effect on season compared to losing 3 at the end.

The tactics I tested are the voted with most votes on FM Scout., just to provide a guide.

Hi Knap,

Just started a lower league save (Tier 10) with Jersey Bulls. What tactic would you recommend? Because even though i am predicted to finish 1st i can't string two wins together.

Recommended tactic for a save with Celtic? Please

Like knap suggested a few posts back, analyze your squad. Now do consider that all of your best players should ideally be on the pitch on their natural or accomplished positions.

Then ofcourse, you are spolied for choices in this thread.

@morewiz

Any top team can use the Lpool pts as a guide (colums are sortable). With RM then you can use same tactic in EC, with Celtic it may be worth having a tactic also recommended for sub or underdog.
