Dersturmer Posted November 12, 2019 Share Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) I played 1ย seasonย with different tactics, and I can say that the best formations so far is 5-3-2 and 3-4-3. 3-4-3 is very good, but the defense in some matches misses a lot. 5-3-2 has excellent defense and attack. All defeats and almost all draws were with tactics with 4 defenders and with wingers. Especially in my save manyย teams playing 5-3-2 achieved excellent results in season. Something tells me that FM 20 will be similar to FM 18 on the criterion of the best formation. Last 50 games before update to public beta: 17 corner goals. First 10 games after update to public beta: 8 corner goals. Same tactic. So i guess tweaked setup for 4132 suddently works @knap And the tactic as well. 10 games, goal difference 36-0... Knaps tactics before the update were working worse, tried and tested ones in FM19 failed. In the public beta (and introduction to ME2016) have fixed these issues mostly and his tactics are solid again. Lesson to be learnt here is don't rely on tactics until the game is released, I don't think many tweaks will have to be made to the ME by Knap (or anyone for that matter) this year. Can 100% second this. Trying to figure out away to make this more consistent in terms of playing away games / stronger opposititon. Tried just tweaking mentalities but that was a disaster (tried cautious / defensive). Trying out a few other things to, but might be a case of potentially switching the CMs/DMs around to have 2 DMs when away which is my next logical step. Before you could grind out unrealistic wins with 4-1-3-1 but now you still get trounced by good opposition. On the other hand, these tactics work betterย against weaker opposition. But there are still stupid mistakes in the game, Martinez for Liverpool has 51 goals to his name this year and the season hasn't even finished yet.. As an example I made a couple of tweaks and finished third with Norwich (no transfers and holidayed the season with AssMan in charge but using the tactic). I know this isn't the most reliable as he'll use OIs during matches; however Norwich finished 3rd that season and was in the FA Cup Final. I have seen MC win PL with 103 pts so virtually impossible to win PL if MC and Lpool hit form. Sometimes worth trying a SUS Tactic for very difficult away games. I found the 442 to work a bit better than the 4132, but I have just started using the 4141 and it is defensively more solid that both the 442 and 4132. The worst result being a 3-1 away loss against Wolves.
