[Greece] Data Issues

Recommended Posts

Please post any data issues related to Greece here.

As much of the data is subjective we’d ask that you respect everyone’s opinion and accept that the final decision is that of our club researchers and our heads of research.

We also request you please adhere to the following three point plan when posting in the data topics:

·        State what you think is specifically wrong with a particular piece of data.

·        State what you think the data should be.

·        State reasons/proof for your suggested corrections/improvements.

Please note that any non-data issues for Greece should be posted in the appropriate thread within the League Specific Issues Forum. This would include issues such as league scheduling and league rules.

Hello Gogito! This is not wrong, this is true. This was done to be more realistic, if you look at the below it says: Scheduled movement: Expect to move to Kleanthis Vikelidis on 15/9/2018. This was actually done.

@xai, OFI's Board will be updated in the full version but Giorgos Samaras isn't the new president. Check out the new members of OFI's board in the following links:

Panathinaikos takeover not updated. Thai consortium with Pairoj Piempongsant and his son as shareholders and director respectively. Avram Grant, yes the ex-Chelsea dude, also in place as an advisor.

@jehovaswitnessatyourdooraswespeak, there is nothing official yet. Pairoj Piempongsant is still shareholder of Mouscron.

Hello,

Every first division club has 2 youngs teams:

- a useless U20

- a U19 team who plays the U20 greek championship.

It must be as FM18: Every club has a U20 team who play the U20 championship.

Thank you in advance.

@Tsaca, it will be fixed. There is no U20 division this season IRL. It will be removed and there will be only U19 Division in GSL and Greek National B Division.

@jehovaswitnessatyourdooraswespeakthe link you posted says 50% not 43%. Most importantly says " However, before acquiring the shares, the business man will first need the typical approval of the Professional Sports Committee, a procedure similar to the ones he went through in Belgium and England where he also owns businesses.". There isn't an official agreement yet.

According to official announcement of Greek Professional Sports Committee on 18/10/2018, Gianis Alafouzos owns 44,24% of Panathinaikos shares.

Source: http://www.gga.gov.gr/images/ΔΕΛΤΙΟ_ΤΥΠΟΥ_ΤΗΣ_18.10.18.doc

The most of the rest percentage of Panathinaikos shares is owned by Sortivo LTD, company owned by Giannis Alafouzos as well.

Giannis Alafouzos announced on 06/10/2018 that there is a pre-agreement between him and Pairoj for the sale of 50% of his shares but nothing happened since then.

Also, it's really important Pairoj to be approved by Professional Sports Committee.

So, we have to wait for official announcements by the board of Panathinaikos and Professional Sports Committee as well  :)

Hi. I've also noticed that Panathinaikos ban hasn't taken place in Europe. Pana are banned for their next qualified season into Europe due to unpaid fines. Not sure if this has been lifted or not.

Hello.

Lucas Boye of A.E.K. is right footed, according to Trasfermarkt, and to what we see on the pitch, so probably he should be better as a left-sided inside forward, instead of a right-sided, with left as preferred foot.

Lucas Boyé (ID:14110829) Update 19.1.0

He's expected to make a return on the 30th of October whereas in real life he started getting minutes on the 7th and has even made a full cap on the 28th. This data can be accessed on transfermarkt, I believe he should make a full recovery earlier than that. I've also attached a screenshot showing the aforementioned date. Also, he is still left-footed.

Guys, for the love of all that's holy can you please tell the Cypriot researcher to fix this issue in which female Cypriot staff get given Turkish first names? It's annoying the hell out of me.

In fact, tell him that for years now history has been incomplete, stadiums are without appropriate lat/long, team attendances are wildly off, supporter profiles make no sense...I'll fix that and all for free, give him credit, if he can just fix this god damn issue of Turkish names for female Cypriot staff. When you see names like "Sultan Panagiotou" or "Gönül Kyriakou" it starts to get annoying.

Can you please fix the names of clubs with the Greek 'μπ'. Not only it looks bad, it's just wrong.

Olympiakos for example is just fine, but then you have teams like Olybiada and Olybos, when in fact the English word for Olympos is just Olympus, with the same mp letters and not some millenial SMS version. Even the French clubs with the same root use 'Olympique' and everything in English is 'Olympic', so how can the very same thing in the original language is written that way?

Names are also way off, with Kampetsis written Kabetsis and Lamprou written as Labrou. For example Kampetsis has his own website and this is how he spells his name: http://www.kampetsis.com/

Then you have Transfermarkt pages for players like Lamprou: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lazaros-lamprou/profil/spieler/292356 And he also has his own website: http://www.lazaroslamprou.com/

This makes zero sense and it's been like a couple of years now that we have to change the English version of player names just to make it appear normal and Greek. I get that you want a standardisation, but at least get it right or get some rules in place. B is acceptable for the beginning of a name but not in the middle of it unless it's next to specific letters such as L and R. Around vowels it just looks bad and 'mb' is usually prefered, just like how Alex Tambakis is writing his name in the USL as you can see here: https://www.northcarolinafc.com/tambakis

But double standards regarding clubs is quite ridiculous. Olympiakos being a big club is written just fine, but everything else is with a B. Either change it to Olybiakos like the "standard" version, or change everything else to mp as it should be please.

I've attached the list of clubs where this issue exists. Also noticed that the ancient town of Olympia is written all wrong too as a result.

Screenshot-2.png

Also, while the Toumba stadium is written correctly, the area of Toumba in Salonika is written as...Touba for some odd reason. The equivalent word in English is Tomb, so it doesn't make any sense to remove that 'm' from there.

I also understand that this may not be a 'Data' issue, but since the responsible party seems to be the Greek research and I doubt anyone from SI would dictate how Greek names should be portrayed, I figured this is the best place to put this in.

In Greek championships will be some changes in the next 3 years. The problem is that no team from C Division promotes in B division  for two years and it's annoying especially when you manage a team from greek C division (the patch from Claasen activates lower leagues from B Division. Is there anyone to answer me if it's a problem from the game or maybe i make some mistakes

@Yuko, thanks, i will look into it, but please, for one more time, please be more polite.

@Stelios PAOK, it is true that this season there will be no club promoted from C division to B Division.

That's why Division C clubs complain about: https://www.onsports.gr/podosfairo/story/608821/exodiko-apo-tis-omades-g-ethnikis-se-epo-kai-yfypoyrgo-gia-tin-anadiarthrosi

I will check what's going on in the 2nd season.

Please ask Claasen himself about any issue you have with his patch.

@Travis Bickle, this is the topic about Greek leagues, not Cypriot ones, i cannot do anything about it.

I thnik this season they will promote the champions of the eight groups in C Division. The article from onsports.gr is very old and it was almost sure that this decision was very unfair for the teams of C Division. So this is an error from the game. Have you got any news for the patch that it will correct the error?

Thank you for your response. Last I was aware, FMGreece or someone attached to FMGreece did a lot of the Cypriot data, is this no longer the case? In which case I'll contact SI.
