[South Korea] Data Issues

Recommended Posts

Please post any data issues related to South Korea here.

As much of the data is subjective we’d ask that you respect everyone’s opinion and accept that the final decision is that of our club researchers and our heads of research.

We also request you please adhere to the following three point plan when posting in the data topics:

·        State what you think is specifically wrong with a particular piece of data.

·        State what you think the data should be.

·        State reasons/proof for your suggested corrections/improvements.

Please note that any non-data issues for South Korea should be posted in the appropriate thread within the League Specific Issues Forum. This would include issues such as league scheduling and league rules.

There's an issue with Daegu FC's stadium. Daegu FC is building a new stadium downtown (Daegu Forest Arena) which will be finished for the 2019 season. Currently, Daegu FC have the Daegu Civic stadium listed as their secondary stadium, however that stadium was demolished last year (2017) and the new stadium (called Daegu Forest Arena right now) is being built on top of it. Therefore, Daegu FC should have no alternative stadium and the new stadium should become the main stadium with the Daegu World Cup Stadium moving to the backup stadium spot once it finishes construction.

Daegu Forest Arena will have an all-seater capacity of 12,000 with an expansion capacity of an additional 3,000 seats. It is located exactly where the Daegu Civic Stadium used to be.

It should start building on 26 July 2017 and be completed on the 20th December 2018.

and you put faces to wrong person, have to correct :

조정현(Cho Jung-Hyun, 5707679)'s face to 최영준(Choi Young-Jun, 66011851),
임민혁 (Lim Min-Hyeok, 66037039)'s face to 임민혁 (Lim Min-Hyeok, 66040275),

Daejeon's Hwang In-Beom seems a little incorrectly rated; I appreciate that he's been on-loan in the Korean 2nd tier but that's only as he was allowed to complete his Military Service early, owing to his potential. Alongside Kim Min-Jae, he's the only player in Korea regularly linked with European clubs (Benfica are reportedly interested) and was part of the Korean u-23 side that recently won gold at the Asian games.

Would have thought that his touch/passing/technique/composure/flair/vision need looking at. He's a lovely, classy little playmaker; a joy to watch and nothing like the player he's made out to be in FM. He's also very strong with his weaker left foot. Not saying he's a genius or a future world-class player but he's the finest technician to have emerged in Korean football for some time. Any chance his attributes could be reviewed? They look identical to last season's.

Thanks for these, they're now fixed internally, and will take effect in the game's full release. :)

Also, I think you have to make K-league youth system more precisely.  In Korea, players join each team through either 'Preferred-Designated' or 'Free Contract'.

1. Preferred-Designated

: It is the principle that a youth team player under the K-League club must join the club by Preferred-Designated. Club can pay a contract fee of 150 million won, five years of contract period and 36 million won basic salary. Those who are not paid the contract fee can make a contract for 3~5 years with a basic salary of 20 to 36 million won. On the other hand, players who are not given 'Preferred-Designated' until October can voluntarily make a deal with all other teams, including their clubs. It is similar way of professional contract of European youth players. But most youth players who are preferred-designated do not join team directly. They go to university football team by the form of loan after contract.

2. Free-Contract

: It is the point you guys are missing because most of key players of the K-league teams join by this case. In Korea, most of the prospects do not go to club youth team. Instead, they prefer to join high school football team, and go to University football team by stage. So that they can freely choose their first professional club at the age of 18~20 after finishing their high school, university freshman or sophomore. It is similar way of US style contract, draft system.

Each club can contract 3 S-class players (Contract fee of 150 million won, five years of contract period and 36 million won basic salary), unlimited A-class players (No contract fee, three to five years of contract period and 24~36 million won of basic salary) and B-class players (No contract fee, 1 year of contract period, 20 million won of basic salary.

Park Ji-Sung, who played in Man Utd., was that case : Suwon Technical High School(5703116) ->Myongji Univ.(5700883)

Park Chu-Young, who played in Arsenal, joined his first professional team, FC Seoul, by Free-Contract, too : Cheonggu High School(5704280) -> Korea Univ.(136429)

Kim Min-Jae who plays in Jeonbuk, Lee Jae-Sung who plays in Holstein Kiel, also choose their first professional team by Free-Contract when they were in university football team.

Also, there were just 3 players in South Korea squad of Russia World Cup who were raised under the K-league club youth system : Hwang Hee-Chan (Pohang Steelers), Kim Seung-Gyu (Ulsan Hyundai), Ko Yo-Han (FC Seoul). 1 player is raised in european club youth system, Lee Seung-Woo (Barcelona), All the rest of the players were played in high school or university football team before they join K-league team by the Free-Contract or other country.

I know you have no license of U-league (Korean university football league), so I suggest you this way : Raise reputation of university teams so that generated players can born with higher CA/PA than now.

Playing as Seongnam FC (ID: 200373) in K League 2, and whenever I play vs FC Anyang (ID: 66029603), Anyang seem to have the wrong 3D kit set? When they should be wearing their purple home kit, the 3D kit used is the white away kit, and vice versa. Particularly problematic when playing as Seongnam, as it means my matches are typically Black vs Dark Purple or White vs White. I'm pretty sure it's related to the 3D kit, because the banners and 2D icons display as expected.

Also a more subjective opinion, but I think Kim Dong-jun's (ID: 66037117) starting wage is too high for the team he's on. It seems to be £4000 a week, which is perhaps what he deserves, but is unrealistic (in my opinion) for Seongnam in the K League 2.

He's on £1400p/w a more than the second highest paid player (Eder ID: 2115899), and it's financially unsustainable considering (at least in previous years of FM) K League citizen clubs (the type of club Seongnam are) don't receive any of the government funding they receive in real life, meaning that they just haemorrhage money. This is a problem all across the K League (in my past experience at least), but with this in mind, his £4k wage is far too high. It makes it borderline impossible to renew his contract without bankrupting the club in the longer-term, which I don't think is realistic.

However, perhaps it was posted online somewhere that this is in fact his current base wage, and I just missed it due to my incredibly low level of Korean, but a cursory glance online didn't find anything.

If something could be done about the lack of funding for citizen clubs, that would be great, as it makes most K League saves unrealistically difficult compared to what you'd expect, as even if I gain promotion this season, I'm pretty confident my board is going to sell most of my first team players out from under me come pre-season because of a lack of money available, which isn't what you would actually expect to happen, as they would gain most of their yearly costs back via government funding.

Someone else brought this up last year, and I'm not at the end of my first season yet, so perhaps it's already been addressed, but if not, could it be looked at and something be done? I love the K League, but it's very difficult to enjoy the save long term without going into the editor and setting every club to have some type of sugar daddy.

Thanks for your time, much appreciated. Fantastic work on the game once again.

Just to follow on from my last post where I touched on Seongnam's finances, here's an article (in Korean) detailing how they received 7 billion Korean won (or £4,766,878.81) for the year as funding from their local government body, since they are a government owned club. I don't believe this funding is represented in game, and would make a huge difference to the game play experience considering the financial forecast has me in the red by the end of the second or third season at best, and the K League prize/sponsor/tv money wouldn't cover it, even if I were to go undefeated in every game up until that point.

http://www.hani.co.kr/arti/society/area/840886.html

This is the case across all citizen teams (although the exact figures may be different), and I don't believe any of them are fairly represented in the game. Considering the lack of TV or prize money within the K League, it makes the saves incredibly (and unrealistically) difficult as a result, as the chaebol teams with much better financial investment can just buy all of your players at any time, with no potential to even attempt to hold onto your players.

I appreciate that in real life, the clubs tend to lose money, so I'm not particularly arguing against that, but the rate at which they lose money and the lack of ability to replenish it in a suitable manner is the crux of my issue here.

I hope this is something that can be looked at, if not for the full release, hopefully the winter update, and if not the winter update, at least for FM20.

Much appreciated.

Just in case you need more evidence for Daegu FC's new stadium:

Also, Daegu FC is missing 2 honours:

1. The Tongyeong Cup from 2006 (which was a friendly tournament)

2. The 2016 R League Southern division title (Which is one of two Reserves Leagues in South Korea)

@Ed Hewison : Could you take a look at the post I put up before of the new stadium (12k capacity, +3k expansion potential)? It's important for Daegu FC to move from the massive stadium to this one as it gets more attendances and costs less money to steward.

Another case of 3D kits being displayed not correctly matching up to what should be expected, Asan Mugunghwa (ID: 136423) are wearing the green home kit of Ansan Greeners (ID: 66039783) as opposed to their yellow home kit. I assume this is an accident based on the names being fairly similar and them being in the same league. The same problem occurs with the away kits, with them wearing Ansan's white away kit instead of Asan's own blue away kit.

Something interesting occurring when Ansan play against Asan seems to suggest that perhaps Ansan have last seasons kits assigned, while Asan are using Ansan's current season kits? See attached screenshot, where they're both clearly using Ansan's home kit, but they're noticeably different along the shoulders. Looking at the image used on the club screen for Ansan suggests the version with the black shoulders is what should be set as the current home kit. Tarragona is an Ansan player, for reference.

m9j1Z4i.png

I don't believe any other kits in the K League 2 have any problems, but I haven't played in the K League 1 yet, so it's possible there might be other problems besides Anyang and Ansan in that league. I'll make a note of any I notice next season.

Daegu FC licensed away shirt is wrong, the white kit used as the away is in fact their third kit. Away kit should be dark blue like the database shirt suggests in the editor; see attached picture.

gnV3pGU.png

Also of note is Jeonnam Dragons FC away kit database shirt, which is striped, while the licensed kit doesn't include any stripes at all. Worth a look at.

souM60U.png

Not sure how much these issues actually matter, since the kits are licensed and displayed in game through that anyway, but thought I'd mentioned them anyway.

@Ed Hewison Any idea as to when we could see all these issues fixed? Daegu's stadium move is pretty important and a bunch of other fixes in the Asian Champions League are keeping me from doing a long-term save :(

Do we get notified when these things are fixed? Are there patch notes somewhere?

Daegu FC's data has several issues:

1. Daegu FC's alternative stadium (Daegu Civic Stadium) was demolished in 2017 so it's not their alternative stadium anymore.

2. Daegu FC is moving into a new 12,000 seater stadium downtown (with expansion capacity of another 3,000 seats) on the 20th of December 2018 called Daegu Forest Arena. It is located where Daegu Civic Stadium used to be.

3. Daegu FC's kit is mixed up. Currently the 3rd shirt (white one) is being used as the away shirt (dark blue one). The licensed data has it right, the game engine uses the wrong ones.

4. Daegu FC's staff is wrong:

4.1- Luisma: Not Data Analyst, he's the B-Team Manager

4.2- Choi Young-Min: Not U18 GK Coach and not with the club anymore

4.3- Ju Dong-Seong: He's the U18 GK Coach but missing from the club (also missing in DB)

4.4- Kim Jae-Woo: U18 Physio but missing from the club (also missing in DB)

4.5- Lee Dae-Gyun: Physio but missing from the club (also missing in DB)

4.6- Lee Jong-Hyeon: He's a data Analyst, but missing from the club (player profile: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Jong-hyun_(footballer))

4.7- Choi Won-Kwon: He's a Coach, but missing from the club
