I will jazz up the opening post with more flavour when I have time but for now lets just get the rules out there so those that want to contribute can start whenever they're ready. Game Setup - No edited databases, any official FM database allowed (e.g. FM 18.3, 18.0 or any previous FM). - Have a chosen nation you will have a career in and load all playable leagues. Any other nation top flight leagues can be added for immersion purposes. - You can be play in any nation, however the save would work better in a national with multiple lower tiers, completely up to you. - Any database size allowed up to maximum of 60,000 players. - Player Attribute Masking must be ticked on. Manager A little bit of flexibility here, as in itself it's unrealistic that a Sunday League player with no coaching badges will land a manager's job in Conference North. The limits are the following: - Sunday League Footballer & Continental B Licence - Semi-Pro Footballer & National A Licence - Professional Footballer (Local) & National C Licence - You can start with lower/no licences if you want to, but you must not go above the limit. You can spread your attributes however you like. - You can either start at a club in the lowest playable league, or start unemployed with the aim of getting a job in the lowest playable league. - You may move clubs, but only to a maximum of one league above. If you are sacked you may apply for jobs at the same level as your previous club (or lower). Tactics - Your default formation / tactic must include 3 or 4 defenders and at least 1 striker. - You may only use a 3-striker system in the last 20 minutes of a game. - Maximum of 3 Team Instructions at any one time (these can be added/removed throughout) - Maximum of 1 Player Instruction per player. Transfers - Any player signed must have been scouted. You may have found the player yourself, but must be able to get a scout report for the player to be able to sign them. - Ideally make use of the scouting system and/or DOF for signing players for added realism. - Youth only is allowed if you wish to play this way. - You can only employ staff who apply for a job advert, or offer a job to a current player. Yeah good shout. I'm just sticking with a flat 442, that's the way most lower league teams do it. Simple, basic, hardly any instructions as the rules say anyway, but I want to try and create a total back to basics thing, that mirrors how basic my team is! I live in Bristol, and could have maybe picked Bath, but Weston Super Mare is 20 minutes away down the M5, and a lot of family live there, so that's who I'm going with. I like being by the beach as well. This is my game setup - decided to stick to just the UK leagues. Maybe I'll add some European ones later, but I'm guessing my scouting will be limited to the UK for quite a while anyway! I've turned on attribute masking, and turned off the potential of using the editor. I set it to Do Not Add Key Staff, so teams can go and hire their own staff, but I think all the teams in the game are set up realistically anyway. I'm Sunday League with a Continental B licence. For some reason, another manager dislikes me already - I haven't even pressed Continue once yet! I quite like their badge, but I'm pretty sure Brighton are the Seagulls, aren't they! DamianJMcGrath Posted August 24, 2018 Share Posted August 24, 2018 I won't do too many posts - maybe a couple a season, but I wanted to share my players: Seems like they have a few decent ones, with Scott and Cane seeming the best of the bunch. I have 2 players in my U23 and none in my U19, so my squad is pretty thin. In terms of playing my 442, I seem to have decent enough midfielders and attackers, but I have 2 defenders in the entire squad. One DL and one DC. That's it. And they are my worst players - so much so that the DC didn't even fit in my screenshot of players above that was sorted by Ability! He's the only one left off. @smp20 any chance we can play a 2-6-2 formation! That's going to need some immediate recruitment. On the subject of recruitment, I have a wage budget of £2,000pw and I'm spending £2,100. So, that's good then. No money to bring players in, and just two defenders. I found a ML who is decent at DL so now I've got two DLs and one DC! I'm going to have to bring in some defenders somehow. The transfer window looks like it stays open all year round and Salou Jallow has been a revelation with his pace! Control is our home setup and Counter is our away setup. And the squad at this point. smp20 Posted August 24, 2018 Author Share Posted August 24, 2018 So Chelmo have never played above this level, but they've been in and around the playoffs several times and I'm expected to do so this season. We're 4 points off the playoffs as it stands so it's very doable. As is often the case at this level our best players are loanees. Will need to make the most out of them before they move on. smp20 Posted August 25, 2018 Author Share Posted August 25, 2018 Results After losing the double header to Braintree things started to click together and we went on a long winning run. Going into the East Thurrock game we had a chance of winning the title, but we lost and then followed that up with a crazy 8-2 loss at home to Havant. They ended up our biggest nemesis, beating us in the playoffs after we went down to 10 men after 6 minutes... However we did manage a great cup run and ended up winning the FA Trophy at Wembley . Very useful for our finances, we've now got over £300k in the bank. League Table Overall a good season considering where I took over and also my poor start in the league. Transfers Not much in terms of transfers in since I joined the club. I took on 5 strikers on trial in Jan and ended up signing Adeyinka and Akinde. Bagasan Graham wanted to terminate his loan as he wasn't happy being an impact sub, so we signed Murrell-Williamson for the same role as a pacey impact winger. Player Stats The plaudits go out to our front 4, Mullings in particular impressing and Sam Akinde performed so well when Batt was out injured he kept his place. I will be looking to keep a core 10-12 players from this seasons squad and add to it with physical players to dominate this level of football. Weston Super Mare to Ibrox is a 780 mile round journey. If you want to kick up a stinker over realism, that's not a trip you should be making.
