[FM18]Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not...

Righty, back with yet another thread. This one's a bit different.

@ManUtd1 It's finally time...

I'll be starting with a create a club in the Premiership(formerly Southampton), and drafting in a team of my choice, with the following two caveats(as set by ManUtd1).

1. Outfield Players, have to all be 5'6", or shorter.
2. Goalies have to be 5'9" or shorter(due to severe lack of options).

Other than that, the aim of the game is to take this mini army to the top of the world.

I don't know how this will affect youth intakes yet, current options are just sell all the big fellas, or edit them down to 5'6"...

There was only one choice for who would lead this team, and where they're be based... Sadly the avatar looks noting like him, despite that actually being a face scan.... My 5th attempt.

Senior Squad.

U-23's

That 5'10 goalie was 5'9 when I started the save and has grown an inch in a week.

U-18's

This is the most "aerially dominant" player at the club.

He'll be retrained as a defender, maybe a Libero.

This is the only actual CB at the club...

These are the two most exciting prospects.

Already, two issues to note, one, I didn't pay enough attention drafting and picked too many senior players, could have done with 4-6 less. Two, that 5'10 goalkeeper has provided an example of a major problem. There's a good chance the majority of my U-23's and U-18's out grow the 5'6 height limit. I hadn't considered this at all.....

I vaguely recall that, at one point, I said that the wee folk had to be left-footed gingers, as well. But we'll let it slide. For now.

 I'd forgotten that tiny, miniscule detail.

Finally got to look closely at the squad... This is going to be amazing. I imagine some really bonkers scorelines, as defending will not be your forte.

Probably shouldn't float in crosses in attack either. :D

Know that HGH stuff Barca juiced up the midget beast on?

I need to find like the opposite of that...

Valenzuela was one I was fairly excited about too, looked like he could make some kind of CB for us.

I reckon a good, 10-15 more players from the youth teams will break the limit before the season is over. :(

I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed.

This shouldn't work, but it is.

I had spent the day I was starting this thinking up daft, and unorthodox ways to work around the tiny squad. Without need, normal stuff is just working, albeit slightly more dodgy against crosses.

I, I expected a lot more bonkers. I mean, I can't even claim credit here, plugged in a fairly standard tactic, one I've used in multiple saves, Nothing outrageous, but it's working...

So as things went on our form continued to go from strength to strength, and with a game left...

They had Stoke at home and we had Palace.

This was bizarre, I came in expecting a real challenge, and having to try some odd, odd tactics(I had a bunch planned out), only for a fairly standard 4-3-3 to work. One I use often(in this case just adding "low crosses").

Once the team were familiarized with it, we ended up getting perfectly good results, albeit a bit weaker than normal to crosses and set pieces. Sadly it's far less bonkers than it could, and should have been.

It's disappointing(especially since I put *a lot* of time into setting it up), but I'm going to have to stick a pin in this for now. Sorry @ManUtd1

Definitely not the challenge I envisioned... But then again, I did say left footed gingers, too...

I'll do that next time!

On the upside, I did learn a lot with this save. I was pretty strictly a "big lump" CB manager(barring Liberos, of course!), even the likes of Lindelof was only ever a right back.

Now, while I'll probably not be starting a bunch of 5'5" lads again, I'll be far less concerned with playing players like Lindelof and Blind there.
