I assume they went to VAR in the background?

Looked like a slip in the replay

And the disgusting robbery against Germany.

Revenge was sweet in '98, tho.

Didn't Croatia loose their last groupgame "on purpose" so they could face Germany or something like that?

Didn't lose on purpose, but did rest most of the starters.

Just a tad offside there..

Feel this is gonna be a farce if officials scared to flag due to var. that would have been pulled back it a goal but the next phase of play could have resulted in a goal to, at which point it’s not pulled back

is that the keeping the flag down approach? leaving everything to VAR if required?

They've been told not to flag for tight offsides, Collina said.

Clattenburg said they've been specifically told not to flag if they think it's marginal.

Not only marginal, but if they're unsure of the situation, they should let it play out.

Smooth move. No need trying to avoid the Germans like the other teams normally do :D

This has all the makings of a 0-0.

13/2 for the 0-0 on bet365, all over that.

Again, this is going to be 0-0, there is no situation where either of these teams score a goal.

My World Cup predictions are as good as ever.

I like the look of Saudi Arabia going forward, look like a disaster at the back though...

Not a bad player to have to bring on, i think Russia's hopes depend on Golovin and the amount of money they are bunging the officials.

BTW - Dzagoev is only 27

Though he was much older, seems to have been around for ages

Unfortunately he never was that good after it, repeating injuries were probably the main reason :(

Cheryshev is the first Russian making an appearance that's not playing in Russian league since 2002 WC.

Anyone know why Georgy Schennikov didn't get called up? Injured? Not good enough?

He's injured but hasn't played for national team since 2016 so anyway was unlikely to be called up.

Yeah, that 2026 WC will have a lot of unwatchable games.

This is pretty bad. It's the opening game so everyone's still hyped, but in a week noone will be interested in games of this caliber.
