smp20
SC Bastia 2023/24 Mid-Season Update We've been the epitome of 'mid-table obscurity' so far this season, picking up 7 wins, 6 draws and 7 losses so far. We've struggled for goals and we've sorely missed Mo Kara. We're predicted to finish 16th so were above expectations, but it is a little disappointing considering we've had two good seasons in Ligue 1 so far and we were knocked out of the League Cup already. Samy Coquin made his debut on his 16th birthday and scored 11 days later to smash club and league records - he's already a firm starter! In an attempt to build bridges within the Giuly family an affiliation has been created between Bastia and Furiani.
noikeee
TA Rennes - proving Zinedine Fraudane wrong End of season update 2019/2020 This wasn't too bad form with more wins than losses, but ultimately still quite a step below what we need to do to go up. The damage had been done earlier anyway, and this was just the continuation. Home defeats to 1st and 2nd Plabennéc and Brest B near the end, put us a big points gap below 3rd, and put our 4th place at risk, but we confirmed it with 2 away wins to finish the season. At the end it's a little step over last season from 6th to 4th (although with the exact same 45 points), but the team is not getting better with the kids not looking useful yet (well none of them have any decent potential), and we're ever at risk of losing more original players, plus they're slowly aging as well. The only things to take from this season were the upgrades we got - our first! - and some minor tactical breakthroughs I've been experimenting with lately, that might help us going forward, hopefully. noikeee
TA Rennes - proving Zinedine Fraudane wrongSeason review 2019/2020 Statistics and best 11 Top 5 players of the season 5. Lilian Delaporte (ST) - Top scorer (11 goals) will always deserve a mention but I'm afraid swapping Odules for Delaporte upfront wasn't much of a breakthrough as I expected, the lad just didn't perform to the level required. 4. Thomas Bellier (ML, AML, AMC) - A much stronger season from our left-winger with 7 goals and 10 assists, becoming part of a quartet of attacking-minded midfielders that shone this season far beyond anyone else. 3. Robin Le Gac (MC, ML, AML, ST) - A less spectacular season from our Mezzala than last year, but nevertheless 7 goals and 10 assists just like Bellier. 2. Cyril Durand (AMC, MC, MR) - The player most involved in our goals with 10 of them plus 9 assists. 1. Bretly Almeida (MR, AMR) - A big breakthrough season, Bretly has progressively gone from awfully underperforming filler at MR, to a natural on the position that is one of the team's stars, and this year he accomplished the side's highest ratings (7.56) plus 10 goals and 6 assists. Is now learning AMR for an alternative tactic I'm using (just standard wide 4-3-3 with DM, MC, MC, AML, AMR, ST). Career progress table
smp20
AS Furiani-Agliani 2023/24 Mid-Season Update We started the season incredibly - 5-0, 7-1, 5-0! - but hit a patch of 3 losses on the bounce. We recovered and currently sit in a very tidy 3rd place. Our front 3 of Pollet, Massimi and Bonelli have forged a deadly trio, annihilating teams at times. Unfortunately we lost in the 7th round of the cup to lower league opposition. There were talks that Parchisi and Ludo had patched up their relationship after the two clubs became affiliated, however any kind of positive relationship forming was quashed when Parchisi declared his interest in the Ajaccio job. He's now waiting by the phone.

noikeee
TA Rennes - proving Zinedine Fraudane wrong Mid-season update 2019/2020 Transfers I thought things were bad enough already when we lost Armand Mendy (backup keeper) and Maxime Blandin (backup midfielder) in the pre-season, but later on in October another team poached Lilian Delaporte, our top scorer from last year. We're now down to just 12 original players, 2 of them being keepers. So any injury, suspension etc and I'm now playing the kids. Who are ****ing awful. I'm afraid there's not much of an improvement, maybe even a step back. We started the season on poor form and this has conditioned things. A huge 7-0 defeat at the hands of Niort B was a particularly dreadful point. We've been slowly improving since, but our current 5th place isn't amazing. We seem more than stagnated and I'm now seriously concerned getting out of this division is not possible, at least not under the way I've been managing this club. We had a mini cup run however, including an incredible smashing of Avranches, 5-1, they are 2 divisions above us! Their B team plays in our division! Then we host Auxerre of all clubs at our home, but even if playing against a Ligue 2 club that are former French champions (just 24 years ago), we could only get a disappointing 512 people to watch our match, so not much of a bumper crowd there to give us massive gate receipts... noikeee
TA Rennes - proving Zinedine Fraudane wrong End of season update 2020/2021 This ended up almost an all-nighter... oops. You'd think from 4th last year with 45 points, to 5th this year with 44 points would be pretty damn depressing, but I actually end this season on an encouraging positive note. If I look up all the league results this year, the big damage was done at the beginning because ever since that crazy 7-0 loss to Niort B at the end of September, we only really lost 3 times more for the league again. I've been experimenting a lot and I feel something's beginning to click in my wide 4-3-3 which is what I use most matches now. This combined with the first good kid from the intakes, and the upgrades for 2 consecutive years, and I now feel I might actually be starting to move forward - although I still need to take advantage of the initial bunch of players to get promoted if I'm ever going anywhere, and the window for that will soon close in a couple of seasons as they age. noikeee
TA Rennes - proving Zinedine Fraudane wrong Season review 2020/2021 Statistics and best 11 Top 5 players of the season 5. Bretly Almeida (AMR, MR, ST) - Lost influence as a move to wide 4-3-3 meant he had to learn a new position again, this time AMR. 7 goals and 6 assists was an okay but not outstanding delivery from a player that had a much better season last year. 4. Mamadou Danfa (DM) - With some of the attackers a little uninspired, this means other less flamboyant players can be noticed such as Danfa. Our reliable DM, one of the squad's best players, has remained so for a while, however is already 30 years old and might be one of the first players from the originals bunch that might need replacement (thankfully this years kid Nicolas Rault YP21A might very well be our long term DM). 3. Cyril Durand (MC, AMC) - Not as good as last year but still a decent season with 8 goals and 6 assists now from more permanently deeper in midfield (he used to play higher up as AMC in previous tactics). 2. Mathieu Odules (ST) - Back to playing upfront as Lilian Delaporte signed for another club, although I was replacing him back with Odules in this year's regular lineup anyway. He did well with 14 goals (and 7 assists), the highest number for a top scorer since I'm at the club. 1. Robin Le Gac (MC) - Holy ****!! "Robin Le Hood", our Mezzala, was back to his very best and even found new tricks as he reached a bonkers 7.75 ratings (nobody else in the side was anywhere remotely near), thanks to 12 goals and 14 assists from a midfield position. Deisler26
Saving Football - Frauding a Nation: The Story so far.. 8 August 2024 Florence, Italy ...Hakan Telleus leaned back in his seat, his cigar wafting plumes of scented smoke into the evening air. Shifting his weight slightly, he took another mouthful of smoke and blew out contentedly. He'd been married for a month now and life was very good in his secluded villa. His new wife was downstairs in the kitchen and he'd taken himself out to the balcony to smoke a cigar and try out a 70 year old bottle of brandy that had been given for a wedding present. As he poured one out, his eye caught a headline in the national paper, folded up on the table. 'CORSICA INVADES FRANCE', about the stunning rise of Stade Bastiais to the upper reaches of Ligue 1. The manager @smp20 was getting lauded throughout France. There was even talk of the Legion D'Honneur... Hakan smiled and raised his glass. He alone in the world knew what the manager was capable of, having presided over his training at the Académie des Fraudes nearly 10 years ago. Since then, throughout all his crazy adventures, he'd still taken the time to try and keep tabs on his protégés. @BoxToBox was also on a meteoric rise to Ligue 1 with Aviron Bayonnais. Hakan shook his head at the memory, smiling wryly. He'd never liked him. Too arrogant. He looked at his empty glass. Hmm, thought I had more than that, he mused. Pouring another generous measure out, he sat back with glass and cigar in hand. Of course, not all of the Fraudes graduates were successful. @kidthekid, @Minuy600, @Jimbokav1971 had all retired, his teachings all wasted. Well, it was their money, he shrugged. The sun started to dip below the horizon, the olive trees dappling the dying sunlight. Hakan reached for the bottle again. Of course, it hadn't been easy to keep tabs on all of them. He'd used his new wife's Mafioso connections to get as much info as possible. The last he'd heard of @Deisler26 was that he'd got promotion to Championnat National 2 with his team some time around 2020, but hadn't heard much of him since. That idiot @Benjoe had managed to get himself relegated in his first season! Unbelievable! Always talking about his penis, or something, Hakan shuddered. There was a wrong 'un. Hakan drained the last of his glass and poured another generous measure out. He lifted the cigar to his lips, taking the smoke in and blowing it out in a large plume.. There were also those who had failed, but got other jobs, the true mark of the Fraud. @MarcxD, @noikeee, they'd nose-dived their first year, but got a new job and kept their heads down. He couldn't ask for more than that. There was also that fraud @ManUtd1 who'd got a job with a prison team! Still, he noted, I'll have to give his escort service a call... Hakan broke into a smile. Pigtails & braces cost extra, he remembered.. All the rest were either out of his reach, or he hadn't heard from them in years.. He drained his glass, stubbed his cigar out and left the balcony as the last of the Italian sun's rays vanished below the horizion...

smp20
League Table ~ Results ~ Club Info ~ Facilities ~ Finances An excellent second half of the season, form wise 2nd only to PSG, means we finish in a European place position at 4th place. That win vs PSG will be remembered for a long time . Not much progress in the cups, but overall a very good season Fogacci ~ Mbala ~ Chauvin ~ Coquin ~ Obenans Decided to screenshot the youngsters that have made a big impact this season. First of all, Fogacci has been pure class and ended 2nd top scorer in Ligue 1. Mbala has made the no 1 shirt his own, while Chauvin and Coquin have been more or less ever-present since turning old enough to play. Obenans has performed well slotting in as our playmaker and I fully expect him to become first choice next season. The future is very bright, as long as I can keep hold of this crop of youngsters. BoxToBox
Youth Intake Day! It's a golden generation, of course it is, quelle surprise... To be fair though, this one looks fairly legit, with three standouts to begin with. Bourgeois is the pick of the litter, and looks a talent, but will need work on dribbling, crossing and playing on the left wing. Larrainzar is already the 2nd best striker at the club, just a matter of waiting until he's available to play. Pereda could be an important player for us in any number of positions, but for all has holes in his game. Positioning is a slight issue in any potential role, but a big one for me at CB. At full back, Crossing and Dribbling would need a lot of work. He could be that DM we need, but Work Rate is quite low unless I switch to a mostly static role like Anchorman. In other news... Normally I wouldn't update progress until the end of season, but strange, strange things are going on in France... PSG are officially in a full on Spursing. Combine that with us going on the best, most surreal run of form this entire save and... I'm at a loss. We were bouncing around 6th-8th all season, but in January, something clicked and we've been on fire since. I'm trying to figure out how it's happening, but even when we play garbage and deserve to lose, like against Nice, we fluke an own goal, Monaco we're down to 10 men hanging on for our lives, we hit two injury time goals on the counter, etc... I mostly played backups against Lazio, to keep starters fit for the PSG game, expecting to lose... Looking at the stats, it's our defence that's killing it as much as anything, an area we were rubbish in last season... Gabilondo joined the first team in summer, and has come on leaps and bounds since, but only two things changed near January. After Lestable's broken leg Dulce has been our DM, and done pretty well. Itturino joined the senior squad, but while he's rated much higher than Garcia in CA, and playing well, he's not actually better in any of the key goalkeeping areas.... I remain at a loss, but won't complain if it continues. This is a bonkers opportunity.

After
The season ended and, as planned, nothing much to say. 14 points above the relegation zone but far from the top of the table. The next season gonna be very difficult as Esparza and Ertek refuse to extend their contract while Uras retired. We'll have to play without our 3 best players by a long a way. No more defensive minded midfielders in the squad. We'll need to get creative with the formation.
Benjoe
If a centipede loses a leg, it does not prevent him from walking Are you ready for some Division d'Honneur Méditerranée action!?!?!?!? Of course you're not. Tier 6 -- Jesus this is horrid. As happened a few pages back Maximuss had an epiphany and has changed system to Le Croissant. So let's present this system. Le Croissant has two versions - one is plain, the other is with chocolate. In other words, a bit more adventurous. Plain Chocolate Team Instructions: Play out of defence, Whipped Crosses, Look for Overlap, Play Narrower. If we don't play ouf of from the back and just hurl the ball long, then why try using a libero? We'll whip crosses in as we've had no succes in either balloon balls or ground rollers. So lets try something different and just whip them. We'll look for overlap as we are starting use flanks in this. Might as well use them more then, right? Play narrower as we want to have less space between our players in between lines. We are bad, and don't want teams to tak the highway through the middle after a failed attack where we were keeping a wide line. Could also help us offensively when we keep narrow while attacking and use an overlapping winger with acres of space to run into. Transfer window Well, as I'm a fraud who sticks to the rules I haven't signed anyone. We have lost quite a few important pieces, though. So the guys I marked are the original players who were at the club at the start. These were the main guys last season along with the two OP's we were able to extend with for next season. This is leaving a big hole. That hole was meant to be mended with Le Bellec, Heitz and Ferreira amongst others, but eh. Snapped up as well. Great fun. The best part is, that 2 of the OG's haven't found new clubs, and the 3 who did are making less money than we were willing to offer them to stay. Morons. We're in a league, where you get points for losing... Tragic. What's more tragic? The expectations for our season. And there's a reason why. Looking at squads we're so far behind everybody. These guys are roaming around this leagues in numbers. While we have these three as our best outfield players. And suddenly PA of our players is useless to use as measurement on their actual potential as it's skyrocketed for almost EVERYONE. This is .. erh. And oh, right. The board wants 10 points in the first 5 or I'm out.
