As long as I can keep the squad together without the likes of City offering silly money and upsetting players I think I won't be too busy in the market at all.

I'd like to start a season without first choice players being grumpy at my refusal to allow them to leave for nothing!

@fabreth @Jamie Cortez Thanks guys I appreciate it.

@Jamie Cortez I would kill for your wingers, and I also had the same problem for a long time, I figured out that if you talk to the player and get an agreed value to sell teams rarely match it. Also congrats on 3rd place after a rough start.

@fabreth It sucks losing a talented player for free, I lost 4 star striker Lucas Alario to Real Madrid on a free in my 4th season, he got transfer listed due to playing time right after his 1st season there. And yeah I feel your pain I have players asking for new deals every week as well.

Big Steps for Swansea going into S4. The board finalised the purchase of the liberty stadium and then immediately announced works to increase the capacity by over 10k seats.

We are playing in Bristol City's stadium for this season with only a 30M transfer kitty ( i assume to the outgoings on the stadium.

signed 3 regen's only, i did manage to nip Real Madrid to the CB above!

West Ham 2020-21 season

Transfers: With last year transfer window, I had a complete squad in every role so this year there wasn't much work to do, besides, with the registration rules, there wasn't much space. My objective was a top striker, as Hernandez and Bony are starting to get old, and an AMC to replace the departure of Lanzini. Schick(meeting his release fee) and Krovinovic were the choices. Then I found two bargains: Zobnin, a jolly who can play in various roles and was useful as a central midfieldere and WBR as a Tete alternative, and Richard, a 20yo wonderkid AMC.

pwtUTYX.png

The season: I knew I had an excellent squad, but didn't think it was THAT good. In honesty, there was a bit of luck involved, but nonetheless, it was great! A pity with that FA Cup, as I would have done a difficult milestone! There are players out of the top 11 who deserved a place there, all with an average over 7. Btw, solid defence, great strikers, and the wingbacks, keys of the tactic.

14eVX4M.pngvkpnIYO.pngP5JKiOb.png

In detail: Our explosive attack won us the league, as we won only on goal difference. It was a season between us and Man Utd. The Community Shield lost on penalties, and the FA Cup round lost to them. Instead, in the league, we won both encounters. Let's forget about the CarabaoCup, and then the Champions League: after a bad start, the rampage began, and I couldn't believe it. Bayern, City, Juventus and PSG in the end, won in a similar way to the Europa League last year, with a goal in the last minutes! I was lucky in the away legs in Munich and Turin, I think I deserved to lose. Then, that 5-1 at home was the key, gave us great confidence. In that period I lost some important points in the League, could have secured the title before, instead of waiting until the last game, and waiting minute 81 in the home of Bournemouth for the decisive goal. Look at the ratings, Schick and Martinez on top!

HovTQwG.pngRRZzNNn.pngCJCYM1U.png

Intake: well it's not a youth challenge but I rely on youth from our academy, and this year we have in Akeem Young one labeled to be "one of the best of his generation"! And also a keeper and a defender who doesn't seem too bad.

@fabreth What a season!!! Great job on the Premier League, Champions League, and Super Cup victories. That Champions League run is crazy, having to beat Bayern, Juve, Man City, and PSG. Your squad is coming together very nicely. I really wish there was a way to import teams because I would love to have my Everton squad play against the teams you, @Jamie Cortez, and @Beric Dondarrion have put together.

Just a summer update.

1st the transfers

816417781_TransferUpdate.thumb.jpg.21b6e502859453646f2fd2fc4e7a2a81.jpg

My 1st transfer in is Benjamin Henrichs, I've been eyeing for 2-3 years now and I finally pulled the triggers, 60 mil isn't too steep considering he's a top player at a shallow position. Next is Nathan Redmond who I picked up on a free from Tottenham, I brought him in to rotate with Lookman on the left wing. My last transfer was Brazilian regen CB Marco Antonio, I bought him because I was going to let Rieldewald go to Real Madrid, but they low balled me using the stupid add on crap and I couldn't adjust the offer so Rieldewald stays here. Antonio has crazy good defensive stats ( 15 marking, and tackling, 17 heading and 15 jumping reach, his physicals are probably the best I have ever seen in a 22 year old CB). As for the outs nothing too major Schniderlin and Coleman were both north of 31 and the rest are youth players who wouldn't make the team. Fun fact only Lukaku, Tom Davies, Ross Barkley, Ademola Lookman, and Mason Holgate are left from the original team I took over.

Super Cup

SuperCup2.thumb.jpg.524c75c4edae186a30f856dba565a893.jpg

We beat OL, Lacazette scored one for them Belotti scored 3 for me, a lot more entertaining then the Community Shield was. This is my 1st Super CUp win after losing to Tottenham the year I won the Europa League. Also OL was the last save I played before starting this challenge so it's good to see that Lacazette stayed.

Community Shield

CShield4.thumb.jpg.dc4f6a5eee7bc519c437641a4646b39c.jpg

I hate playing Tottenham more than any other team in the league. Every game is a fight and they never go away. They still have all their main guys and added players like FIrmino, Alexander-Arnold, and Carrasco. This game was as sloppy as it comes, the game went to PKs, they missed one, we made them all.

West Ham 2021-22 pre-season

Just a pre-season update. Didn't went as well as @JaytheGreat. The tranfers: Rejuvenation of the defence, with the departure of Reid and Ogbonna and the arrival of Joe Gomez. Jakub Zak is a 18yo czech forward, labeled as wonderkid, and then Makumbi, a 21yo ugandan defender. Was on free, seemed a bargain, I loaned him out as there wasn't space in the registration list, and we'll re-evaluate his position next season, hope he will improve. Didn't need so much tranfers also because reinforcements also come from our youths: Robertson and Walsh are ready to make their appearance in the squad.

28PihVT.png  575pnbK.png

Competitions: No early trophy this time, as we lost both matches. Against Chelsea in the local one, and that was a delusion, awful match on our part. And Against Atletico in the Euro Super Cup. This time the extra-time was against us, but then again it wasn't a great match on our part.

Another season, means more trophies for Everton. We got embarrassed in the 3rd round of the League Cup by Crystal Palace at their place. Also we got knocked out in the Quarterfinals 5-5 on away goals by Real Madrid, but we ended up winning the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Premier League: Won

  1576019898_PremierLeagueWin4.thumb.jpg.2966c75c1678eed7c4c5988c6e06bbf6.jpg

1073383449_LeagueTable3.thumb.jpg.5e03be8719984cc03f1dc238bd5b0adf.jpg

We won the league easy as we finished 15 points ahead of the 2nd place Man Utd. I'm kinda upset we didn't make 100 points, oh well there's always next year. Keane had a bounce back year but Zouma is by far our best CB. New additions Ben Henrichs and Marco Antonio slid right in and played their roles nicely. Nathan Redmond played well when he got his time. Disappointing season for Zivkovic but Lookman picked up most of the slack on the other reason. Winter addition CM Thiago from Brazil played ok in a half of a season, I expect more from him last season. Gave some game time to our 2 wonderkids, they played ok Brown really picked it up towards the end of the year.

FA Cup: Won

191792837_FACupWin5.thumb.jpg.9544da6600d238d8a8c0a341494728c3.jpg

We scraped by some bad teams with some really bad performances, but then we did what we needed to do against Man Utd, Chelsea, then dominating Nottingham Forest in the Final

Thiago.thumb.jpg.4a125bf927a858633e5100a36c3c6065.jpg

Swiped this gem for $16.5 mil pretty much because I could, and he's good and was cheap. He rotates with Tom Davies at the starting DLP position, he'll see how he fits in with a preseason under his belt.

1790321445_Wonderkid1.thumb.jpg.b1b29f79c49da67688c0130c8537faec.jpg

1622618668_Wonderkid2.thumb.jpg.a702dd025cdd2830788b0013d0dfbb09.jpg

Both are going to be pretty good in the future, Brown started off pretty slow but like I mentioned above really improved at the end of the season. The future is bright for prospects going out of the academy.

The squad is getting a little bloated so I'm looking to sell this offseason, the main contenders to leave are Rieldewald, Pierre - Emile Hojbjerg, and Luis Herrera ( I don't feel like paying him what he wants) and I suppose we will see what others I get offers for, I got some more Regens I have my eyes on

Well with FM19 round the corner I needed something to get my interest back into FM18 so here I am for a go at this. So we are off to the south coast. Certainly going to help with the Academy aspect. Might even try and focus on the academy with just the odd purchase.

probably over spent on assensio and actually been disappointing with a few injuries and no goals. hopefully after some time and a pre season he will be more suited to the inside forward role and will produce what i know he can do.
s.m-savic worth the price tag to good not to have bossing the midfield had a fantastic partnership with arthur this year.
a few youngsters my scouts rated highly as well as a good backup for robertson at LB.

Right after dabbling in some getting to know FM19 games with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid I am ready for my first proper game and this is as intriguing a place as ever to start.

So the footballing gods have actually smiled on me for this . . . a team with players and a good proven youth set up . . . what more could I ask for . . . I present to you my team . . .

CARDIFF - SEASON 2018-2019

723827973f362b8eedbe9db69a0491bd.png

I'd say this went pretty good considering we were supposed to end up dead last according to bookies.

ac47449f98b60815f69a84e05a95962b.png

Almost reached FA Cup semis but lost to QPR on penalties. I am happy with this aswell.

51d4a04552f0ea3137f66fe141b79225.png

Zohore winning played of the year is a little surprise to me honestly. Anyways it's great that Joe Ralls plays so well since he's the only player from Cardiff academy worthy of Premier League at the moment. I had to promote Sion Spence from u23 just to have him on bench when Ralls injured himself once.

866f9e448b686f0050f5e7d6aef29c38.png

Got rid of some trash for surprisingly decent money and bought Callum Gribbin and Pape Souaré. Anyway I am starting to hate work permit - couldn't get it for like 3 awesome players I've found? Is there any work-around? I did not manage in PL for a long time.

90253d1b52b6d40a7241b1fa834346ad.png

Now this is great as Daniel Jenkins looks really awesome - may have to change tactic to accomodate him later on though.

Right well the Southampton save didn't last long (I knew there was a reason I normally use the 3 rolling autosaves and not just a single one !!)

Anyway I decided to re run this straight away as I wasn't that far in with Southampton. So I present to you . . .

So with November being a very quiet month with the International break I thought I would get the November update in here. I am pleased overall with the results, especially as Newcastle are a massive bogey team of mine but the Palace game was one we really should have won but as you can see it is tight at the bottom so if we can get some positive results in December I reckon we can drag ourselves up another position and out of the relegation zone come the start of the new year.

CARDIFF SEASON 2019/2020

62e467bb80155e6ffe4270e9927f0d7a.png

I had to rebuild the whole team because 3 of my starting midfielders were only loaned to us and there were a lot of positions that we lacked either depth or quality. Vincent Janssen was on transfer list and I thought he's kind of decent player so we got him. Pelayo Morilla won european wonderkid award so lets see how that works out. Kristoffer Ajer became our all-time biggest signing and together wih Pierre Kunde he will start as CM. We also gto Gnabry on loan with future fee of 40mil (if we want him). John Souttar was signed only for 7mil and became our best player almost immediately. Jenkinson and Kalas joined us to provide some depth. None of the players that left were any important.

bedffb505dd22375817d9ab484b68c00.png

We started the season HORRIBLY and funnily enough even worse than last season. Nothing worked and team morale was terrible. Changed tactics, still lost every game. Then we got back to our old good 4-4-2 and started winning. Ended up 12th which is not that bad after that start, even though I wanted at least top10.

cb83c8a001271e2e41d437330350d302.png

In Carabao Cup we managed to beat some bad teams and then got destroyed by Fulham who later on got relegated.

f362f0e375f1e6bcc788ec9d4c8f5f62.png

Now FA Cup was a different story. We started in January when we were already playing good and after some fantatic offensive performances we made it all the way up to semifinal where we faced West Ham - who was 1st in PL at that time. We beat them 3-1 and went on to challenge Chelsea for the FA Cup title. Chelsea did not really play well and only got to OT because of awesome performance by Olivier Giroud (lol). Rüdiger got red card at like 84th minute and we proceeded to score 2 goals during OT, winning the FA Cup. Now I can play at least until 7th season! Also here we come EURO Cup.

0bc94c29d05789e34bc93e78c95b4452.png

Player of the season has weird results in my opinion and for me it was 1. Souttar, 2. Ajer, 3. Decordova-Reid but I guess fans know better. Oh and Jenkins scored 2 goals in first 2 games and then went on and played in starting lineup during the rest of the season (includin FA Cup final where he hit a post).

@JaytheGreat Thanks a lot! Anyway I've got a question. I had Gnabry on loan last season so if I get him next season does he count into the 8 players I can sign or not? I have a terrible habit of signing loads of players and reloaning them etc so this one rule is a huge challenge for me

Link to post

@scarp You can have 8 permanent signings per year with up to 3 loan signings on top of that. If you go over that limit you'd have to figure out which new players wouldn't play until your back at the limit. While I don't think it's technically against the rules to sign a lot of players and loan them out I'd say it's against the spirit of the rule, but it's your team and it's not technically against the rules so I'd say do what you want in that regard.

Well I've decided to continue my attempt at the Alex Ferguson challenge.

23/24 Season

Lets start with the transfers; we sold 3 1st players back up CAM Luis Herrera, AMR Zivkovic, and CM Pierre Emily - Hojbjerg for a total of $60 mil. I didn't want to pay Herrera's new contract, and the others I wanted to get off the books. I also sold 2 youth academy players for 3 mil. I brought in 2 big time regens for a total of $33 mil one from AS Saint - Etienne in France and Lanus in Argentina.

CB Christopher Walker - Deemin for $25 mil, I already have the best CB rotation in the Premier League and this guy will be leading the backline for a decade.

   CWD.thumb.jpg.b805e9b90fb589de59ec74575be212c3.jpg

CAM Maximillano Abraham - $8 mil, he will be waiting in the wings to replace Ross Barkley when he start to decline

Abraham.thumb.jpg.cce1e0d44f1277c953f6a4ccaec390ad.jpg

Not the best season I've had in the challenge but still pretty good. We got knocked out in the 3rd round by Man City, and lost in the FA Cup Semi Finals to Bournemouth. Although we did win our 5th straight Premier League Title, our 5th Community Shield, and our 2nd Champions League trophy.

May look like a noob, but have to ask this.

I have created the manager profile with the required details and holidayed to Nov 5th, Saved it incase needed for later use, then moved on to Nov 6th, and know the club in 19th position. Now I am confused of how to become their head coach? Can someone help to letting me know this please?

Can anyone confirm if the process is below? I need to have the two manager profiles - One for holidaying till Nov 6th. Then add manager and takeover the team in 19th position. Am I right?

Tried this challenge, got Huddersfield and got relegated lol. Didn't ever have that much bad luck in a save before. So many unlucky losses and draws. A 0-1 against Bournemouth where Schindler misses a penalty for us and they win it from the spot in the 85th destroyed the season. No motivation to restart now though.

CARDIFF SEASON 2020/21

We signed Patrick Roberts from Man City for only 2mil and he immediately became one of our best peforming players. Also Serge Gnabry did not sign new contact with Bayern and he rather signed with us but with 30mil release clause so lets see how long he stays with us. We needed a new goalkeeper and I decided to spend almost 20mil on albanian goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha. Osorio from Porto was cheap squad player and we also signed Pereira (flop) and Weah for free (not that good either). Nearing the end of transfer period it was obvious we need to sign a star striker so we decided to go for Celta Vigo' Maximiliano Gomez who is still very young. During the season we got welsh wonderkid Ethan Ampadu on loan to help us out during injuries. We sold some useless players and then got some decent money for Janssen, Etheridge, Manga, Kunde and Kalas.

I am kind of happy with this season, even though we were up to 4th place in January but playing european football sure took its toll on us. We will play in Europa League next season aswell so that's good.

Last year's surprise run was not repeated.

This group looked so easy up until we got destroyed by Lazio. Anyway we finished 1st.

Real Sociedad was easy and we smashed them both time. AC Milano on the other hand was way better opponent and we only got through because Conti bottled it so hard and Gomez scored free goal in 90th minute. We added one more then. I was pleased to get OM in quarterfinals but we had really terrible schedule (7 games in 16 days, wtf FM?) so we lost to them on aggrevate. I am still happy with the season despite the fact I was low-key aiming for Europa League win.

Team of the season is about right except I'd swap Decordova-Reid for Zohore and Paterson for Jenkinson. Jenkins was also a great player this season.

Overall I am quite happy with the season but we need to get more depth onto our squad.
