MrJackster
[FM18] MY FM18 CAREER Hello Everyone. Been taking a bit of a break away from FM but i cant stay away so i thought i would give the Career thread a bash again with a save with West Ham United. My reasons being, erm well i dont actually have any just fancied something a bit diffrent as i tend to play with lower league teams so we'll see how this pans out hopefully all goes well (Deep Breath)... So im using a Large DB with the lastest transfer file from over at Sortitoutsi.net to keep things upto date,Top leagues from around Europe loaded in giving me a player count of about 55k more than enough for a decent save i think.Lets meet the new manager of the Hammers then eh guys.. Fernando Marciano Born in Lisbon he retired early in his Portugese Career determined to cut it in the managerial world He knows his stuff thats for sure,Can only be a positive thing at least id say. Adequate enough reputation hopefully after some success that can change for the better.

MrJackster
First Team Squad A pretty well balanced squad i think with the exception of defence which seems to be ageing with a combined age of over 100,although the premier league experience will be vital for the season ahead.Im going to be playing a 4231 for the majority of the season so my first job will be to get a decent attacking midfielder to cover Joao Mario in the event he gets injured. In goal on loan from Man City Joe Hart will be my first choice keeper with Adrian a very capable backup. When Carroll returns from injury i will need to find a way to play him and Hernandez up top as he looks statistically decent enough to be in the first eleven if he can stay free from injury that is. In Midfield we have Mr west ham Mark Noble and Obiang pulling the strings in the middle of the park although it looks as if we need a bit of depth there as well, something else that will need looked at in all honesty. MrJackster
Under 18's Couple of highly rated prospects in the youth setup but nothing to shout about though.El Mhassani seems the standout talent by the looks of it so will get him tutooured immediately along with Declan Rice and Haksabanovic who also look half decent as well. The others most probably will be moved on at some point unless they can impress. MrJackster
Transfers In&Out In comes Karol Linetty from Sampdoria for a fee of 11M.Looks a very good player indeed and will give some competition in midfield. Jelle Vossen arrives from Club Brugge for 5.5M,possibly try play him up front with Hernandez but which probably mean tinkering around with the 4231 tactic being used just now.Played in England before with Burnley and a loan spell at Middlesbrough. Marc Oliver-Kempf comes in from Freiburg for 4.5M to bloster an ageing and creaky looking defence.he has a good bit of pace about him which need at the back, not quite ready for the first team yet though i think but wont be long i feel. Out goes Andy Carroll to Stoke City on deadline day for 19M.Stoke giving us 15M upfront and instalments of 4M afterwards.Didnt fit in with the way i want the hammers to play and with Hernandez and Vossen more suited to the roles up front. Will be looking for a more suitable back up to these two.I hope this sale doesnt come back to haunt me!!! Roncaglia comes into the team to give competition on the right back slot with the ageing Zabaleta, can also play centre half if required.Picked him up from La Liga side Celta Vigo for 6.5M financed by the deal with Andy Carroll.Capped for Argentina few times as well.Got bit of business here.Times getting tight on deadilne day... Italian international Destro comes in from Bologna on deadline day for 10M to give us a fierce bit of competition up front now with Vossen,Hernandez all vying for a place in the starting eleven.Signs a four year deal with us. Highly rated young winger Connor Malley also comes in on a 800k deal from Middlesbrough.Thoroughly scouted and seems a decent prospect on the left wing, part of the deal is that he goes back to Boro' for a season on loan to see how he does, hope he develops nicely. Younes Kaboul comes in on a season long loan from Watford to give a bit of cover in defence,Riddled with injuries in his career we did think about a permanent transfer but the safety net of a loan incase he gets injured again means we can ship him out.Still looks solid enough at the age of 31.Has played with Sunderland,Spurs and Portsmouth in the past, vastly experienced centre half. MrJackster
Pre season was the warm weather camp in Portugal where the hammers faced some local sides with some ridiculous results as you can see smashing a massive 34 goals in over the course of 4 games, against fairly mediocre teams i must add, helps with the morale, and the guys didnt dissapoint.Back at the London Stadium we played a full strength Inter side grinding out a good 1-0 win. Then some friendlies up in Scotland where we did try to play Rangers&Celtic but both declined so it was a variety of teams, again pretty rank opponents being brushed aside all too easy.We seem to be in good shape for the season opener against Newcastle at home which comes soon. MrJackster
August 2017 A fairly good start to the season with the opener against Newcastle, then a poor performance away to Leicester.Rotated the team for the match against Cheltenham Town in the League cup and we got a good win against a very stubborn side.To finish the month of we had the visit of palace where we were 4-0 up at the break and a resounding fighback from them seen Palace nearly snatch a draw!! Decent start in the league table but it is very early days and some big teams to play still. If we can keep up the spirited performances i will be pleased with that.Next update will be the activity in the transfer window which is about to close. MrJackster
So the transfer window has slammed shut and with a few deals getting done on the day a shrewd bit of business has been completed as you can see a few posts up.Quietly confident we can kick on here with the new players making a big cotribution as well. MrJackster
September 2017 Not the best of months in stark contrast to the last, baravely fought against Liverpool but the diffrence in class was just too strong in the end, afterwards from that we went to Wembley and got thumped by Spurs 5-1 Harry Kane running riot in that one grabbing four first half goals.Brentford went to extra time in the league cup,two poor peformances afterwards in the league sums up a pretty dire month, hopefully things will improve. MrJackster
October/November 2017 An absolute barren run at the moment as you can see.started off not so bad against Belgian side Kortrijk in a friendly with the international break, but then 5 straight defeats and knocked out the carabao cup into the bargain sees us plummet down the laegue table into the relegation mix.atahough was ending the barren run against Chelsea where we fought back from 3 down to salvage a point but performances need to improve and fast as we are rock bottom of the league table.Too many big players are underperforming. MrJackster
Latest News Its looking pretty bleak as the board's paitence is wearing thin after a 4-0 loss at home to Arsenal, they want 8 points form the next 4 games but with the opponents i have in that period it looks unlikely. Its not looking good is it? Man city is a tough one obviously but the next three certainly are winnable in my opinion,if the players can show up on the day.dont know where it has went wrong in all honesty. MrJackster
December 2017 So its all over at West Ham after 5months in charge at the London Stadium, resigning before i got the chop with my reputation still intact. We gave Man City a right good game but ultimately lost 4-3 and that was with us being 2-0 at one point, the gulf in class was just too much it seems. Then it was away to Brighton where we lost an 87th minute goal to send us to 1-0 defeat,it was then i knew that the points task wasnt going to be met and there was not much other to do than leave the club, trailing at the foot of the table in 20th place. So its now pastures new for Marciano where will it be next? Was the West Ham job just out of his depth it seems?
MrJackster
December 2017 From one relegation battle to another Everton approached me and i immediately accepted on a four year deal at Goodison Park. The club are currently 19th in the league table,so the whole squad will need to be evaluated to see where it has went wrong this season after sacking Big Sam..
