[FM18] What do you call genetically modified corn? I suppose it's still corn-ish.

I'm a complete lurker on this forum and your threads but this has just got even more interesting than it already was. Looking forward to seeing the future talents.

Thanks Chris! Since we've turned professional we're now offering players contracts which should mean the end of players being poached as well! :D

Holy mother of god! Thats insane!
I've just made it up to the Conference South, oh what I would do for a tycoon takeover, well any takeover for that matter being 500k in the red!

It's unbelievable after the season we had last season and I think it's the first time that any club I've managed has been taken over by a tycoon!

The downside is that players who have been offered a contract are on between £160 and £240 per week so we're currently spending £2,500 per week on wages.

Oh my word, this save just got a lot easier, didn't it?  How far can you go before the tycoon money is over?

Hopefully! I'll just try to upgrade the facilities whilst I can, I guess it'll be here for 15 years or so.

This should be fun!  Best of luck with the tycoon and what a relief to not waste all that talent coming through the ranks on other teams.

Indeed it should be! And it's great to hold on to our players now! :D

2027/28 English League Update

A team called Fry's Club up in the 6th tier :D Fairly certain my local team, Rugby Town, are at that level now as well.

Congrats on the Tycoon, going to make the ride interesting.

Next season, you have Blackpool in the VNN and Cowfold in the VNL.  Who the heck are Cowfold?

Interesting to see. I've just been working on my rather ambitious update so I know the answer to this one. They play in the Southern Combination League Division Two, which is step 7/11th tier.

We could, but where's the fun in that. ;)

It's all happening for you now, you deserve it after the relentless player poaching by the other teams, bet those players are kicking themselves, wishing they had been armed with hindsight.

Thanks Shaun! Yea if only our best players stayed with us, we could be doing a lot better.

Wow a tycoon takeover! The one time I had that happen is when I least needed it, which is typical ;)

Same here, I don't really need it but it does give me a chance to really get some facility upgrades in!

Fry's Club have made the rise from the 11th tier and have had a great last few seasons and haven't had a tycoon takeover either.

Rugby are now a solid mid-table Vanarama North side.

Thanks, as long as expectations aren't immediate promotion I should be okay!

Cowfold (never heard of them) winning the Conference South? Another tycoon backed club?

Nope Cowfold are one of a few clubs who've gotten some sort of reputation boost from back-to-back promotions and are 2nd in the Vanarama National but they're only 5 games into the season.

could you upload your save mate? just to tinker with a tycoon club so low :D

I uploaded my save on the last page or the page before for the Illogan tycoon takeover.

Cowfold are predicted to finish 14th in the Vanarama National and their best player is their Ghanaian international goalkeeper!

Other clubs who are making massive steps forward are Southwater:

Went all the way down to the 15th tier but their momentum could see them play in the 6th tier next season, and here's their best player:

Riseley Sports have made it from the 12th tier to the Vanarama South:

And of course we have Fairwarp:

A really good start to the season sees us through to the FA Cup First Qualifying Round but I don't see us getting any further as we face a tough Bath City side, it's also been a solid start to the league as we sit in mid-table with up to 2 games in hand.

Bath City went 3-0 up within 10 minutes and that's how it stayed for the next 80, we're lucky that we've had Emmanuel Appiah stepping up, he's not really featured in the first team for 4 seasons now but with the previous seasons of the squad being torn apart I couldn't just release him, and now he's the only one getting us points.

Consistently inconsistent there. Seems like you need every game to be a cup game to build some form.

It is quite annoying but our players are nowhere near the level needed to even compete at the top end of this division, you can see what my best 11 is in the end of season reports, in comparison here's the media best 11 of the league, entirely made up by Illogan RBL players and Plymouth Argyle Reserve players.

Mike Thomas (Illogan)

Andrew Eleftheriou (Plymouth Reserves) - Jack Lee (Plymouth Reserves) - Jason Marks (Plymouth Reserves) - Matthew Sorinola (Illogan)

Rabbi Matondo (Plymouth Reserves) - Joe Ralls (Plymouth Reserves) - Finn Tapp (Plymouth Reserves) - Tom Marshall (Illogan)

Jerome Sinclair (Plymouth Reserves) - Michael Byrne (Illogan)

Yeh, hopefully this takeover then will allow you to build your facilities up as much as you can and in 2/3 seasons you can really push on. Some good players there shame Plymouth Reserves are in that position to use first team back ups.

It's all getting very tight at the bottom of the table with just 2 points separating 10th and 17th with 13 games left to play of the season, it's looking very likely that Illogan will get back-to-back promotions which means that the season after they could become the best team in Cornwall since Truro City are now a lower mid-table side in the Evo-Stik League South Division One West.

Extremely tight! do you have to play the teams around you?

If they stay in their current positions then we face (in order) 7th, 10th and 18th at home, 19th, 9th, 8th, 15th and 6th away from home.

Going to be tough that we have 5 away games left but at least we won't face the best teams.

That's not too bad then.

Some good players in the intake, especially Onyekachi.

And just the one point to finish the season, we finish with 9 more points than last season, a far better goal difference but in the exact same position as last season. It will be interesting to see how Illogan get on in the 8th tier!
