Did you play a second string against Celtic in the 2nd leg? Or are they still really, really good at Celtic Park?

Not sure you'd call this a weakened side. We are having a nightmare on the road right now

We surprisingly crashed out of the Carabao Cup in September, and had a couple of league draws, but were superb in the Champions League

leaving us three points off the top in the Premier League

Stoke are beginning to look like a one season wonder for the CL qualification...Too early to say for sure but the warning signs are there. Chelsea managers have been sacked for less...

I'm not sure yet. Just checked their results, and two of their defeats have come at Man Utd and Man City. OK, Man Utd aren't a superpower these days, but they're still good enough to cause even us and Man City problems. Man City are still a massive threat, last season was a one off and they are back to their best again. We'll know more about Stoke after another 10 or so games.

Is Jose still at Man Utd?

Actually on that note, who is in charge of some of the bigger teams? If it's not too much for you to look up.

No, Jose has gone, two seasons ago. He was succeded by Ian Vigurs, who has already been sacked and replaced with Andrea Conti (plays for Milan irl).

Man City are on their eighth manager since Pep left in 2019, currently managed by Nuno Esprito Santo

Bournemouth are managed by Graziano Pelle

Middlesbrough - Sone Aluko

Tottenham - Jim McNulty (currently a Rochdale player)

Everton - Phil Bardsley

Chelsea - Heiko Herrlich

West Ham - David Adams (currently on Middlesbrough's coaching staff)

Huddersfield - Stephen McGinn (St Mirren player)

Brighton - Scott Wootton (MK Dons player)

Arsenal - Jose Holebas

Stoke - Ian Vigurs

Watford - Ruben Neves

Leicester - Aleksandar Mitrovic

West Brom - Ruben Gabrielsen (currently a Molde player)

Norwich - Marco van Ginkel

Hull - Stephen Kirby (currently a youth team coach at Leicester)

Southampton - Tim Ream

Wolves - Graeme Shinnie (Aberdeen player)

There are some really odd appointments there...I'm coming up to the end of the 2020/21 season but I've had some weird ones. Most notably, Viera is in charge of Tottenham.

I assume the likes of Messi and Ronaldo have retired? Maybe even Neymar too? Did they stay on? If so, where'd they go?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just curious.

Messi is no longer in the game at all, and his details weren't saved so I have no idea how his career went. Ronaldo stayed at Madrid for the rest of his career, retiring in 2023. Neymar saw out his career at PSG, retiring in 2028. None have had a coaching career. Steven Gerrard was on Liverpool's coaching staff when I arrived but he has retired aged 55. Eddie Howe is currently Juventus manager. Barcelona are managed by Paul Clement (yes, him!), Real Madrid by Patrick Vieira, Milan by Paddy McNair (not kidding) and finally Inter by Ze Ricardo.

I'm surprised none of them stayed to coach...

McNair at AC Milan?????? Either he has insane coaching stats or Milan are really struggling...

Not really surprised by the rest. They're all good in their own right

Ahh righty. So he hasn't been the one steamrolling Serie A.

He won it in his first season, but no, he's not been responsible for their dominance. Here's a history of their managers

Understandably, none were sacked. I assume they all got offered better jobs. Still wouldn't expect that level of Milan dominance considering the stature of the Juve team...

Yeah, they all joined either national teams or PSG, except Carvalhal who went to West Ham

October, apart from a Merseyside derby draw in a game we were 2-0 down, was perfect

339626_Oct2037.thumb.PNG.fddcd772b5b303de2e2143446874339b.PNG

but the dropped points cost us the chance to oust Man City from top spot

2003943812_Oct2037table.thumb.PNG.981acb03c0ad0467ee3878e0b51e0b8b.PNG

and we're on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League, a home game with Rangers up next

The real shock is that Rangers still have a chance in the CL groups. Who did they beat?

Looking at the way the group is and that they only have Milan to play, I'd say they did a double over Gladbach...

Neotropolis is spot on. My last game is at home against Gladbach, so I'm looking for a perfect record in the groups now

We went through December unbeaten, despite visits to both the Manchester clubs and Chelsea

ending the month top of the table, but Man City have a game in hand

264733086_Dec2037table.thumb.PNG.e6456c53ac8aee5484987383558e45f9.PNG

and we topped the Champions League group with a perfect record

Not just a perfect record, but a 'perfect group' where every team beat everyone below them and lost to everyone above them.

I'm happy they're in the Champions League. How did they do?

They failed to get out of their group, but they had a really tough draw, and nearly made it. They beat Bayern 3-1 at home, but went down to a 3-0 defeat in Germany which is what sent them out

We clinched the title in our first match in May

851838169_Champions2038.thumb.PNG.ba4d290b6253ea6550b0fabd17476d45.PNG

but, having beaten Norwich and Chelsea, a draw in the final match of the season at Huddersfield was a disappointing way to finish the season

However, 92 points, and a fourth title in five years was a pretty special season
