andychar Posted February 17, 2018 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Ok truth be told I have no idea how this is going to pan out but here we go. The idea and premise is simple. Win a game steal a player. Lose a game lose a player. Every game I play will have 3 outcomes... Win and I can steal a player from the team I've just beaten. Lose and they get a player from me. Draw and nothing happens, everybody just moves on like nothing happened. All players from the club will be listed alphabetical and I will use a random number generator to select which player will move. Using the in-game editor I will then move the player to the club changing nothing else, so the wages will stay the same as well as the contract. Basically it means that if I beat Chelsea I could end up with Eden Hazard, or some random unprofessional regen. I have no challenges whatsoever other than to enjoy and just see what happens. The biggest problem here will be wage budget. Obviously as I get more and more players my wage budget will get higher and higher. Transfer windows are going to be very interesting. I can't purchase any player although if need be I can get free agents but that's only as a last resort ie I've lost 20 games in a row and no longer have players! If anybody has anything they would like to add I would love to hear it and see if this save can evolve with as many user inputs as possible! So enough about the boring rules. I will be starting this save with Parkgate FC. Reason why is because I live a stones throw away from the ground. Predicted to finish 14th in the Northern Counties First Divison (In real life at the moment they are 2nd bottom only ahead of Clipstone (the village I'm originally from!)). It will be up to new manager Smoochie Boochies to try and take Parkgate FC to the very top. No badges no experience. Don't know why but he's from the Island of Kiribati with English as his second nationality. Coming up will be the Squads and Friendlies. First Team Under 23s Under 18s Overall some good players for this level...whether or not I can keep them is a different matter! Ok so these are the friendlies, I figure if I can beat the Under 18s of some of the big boys I could potentially get somebody like Aguero. Also not there is a game against Chelsea U18's. I wanted a free game to get going with my own under 23s obviously no point moving players there. Wages are looking too bad...for now! Not pictured there are Thackerly and Worksop Town. Im sticking with a formation and tactic that worked well with Solihull Moors. 3 at the back 3 up front and plenty of hoof ball. Good start although its always worrying if you cant even beat your own Under 23s. No player swap so moving on. Next up was an ill fated match against Leeds. For some reason when I proposed to U18's I also got the main team...then the U18s cancelled so I'm just left with a game against the Leeds United first team...I fear the worse. The funny thing is before hand I got a message saying that it was a sell out...now I've been to the ground...a sell out isn't an impressive achievement. Things went...just about how I expected them to. Although 6-2 isn't a bad result against a team who is 8 division above us in the pyramid. So Leeds United get one of my players...I'm sure they are delighted. Random.org will be used. 33 players at my team before the game... We say goodbye to Steve McDonnell who played in both friendlies so far...could have been worse but could have been much better. Its going to be a long preseason! Belper Town were next, they are in a division below us so really a win was needed...even if its just so we don't lose another player! Ok something isn't working! Belper Town have a new Keeper, and luckily he's only our U23 keeper. Tadcaster Albion up next. They play in the division above us so fingers crossed we can snatch a much needed win and a much needed player. No harm no foul. Positive result against a team a league above us...moving on. Next up is Rotherham U23's and I think its a great opportunity to get a big player. Just realised I've had players in Position order and not Alphabetical so that will be changed for the next move. Boom did we need that! Here's keeping fingers crossed for a decent player... Its out of 59 players. He was in the Under 23s. Straight away a 5 star player. Could have been better but he will do! The Rotherham United first team is next so I'm sure they will get a player straight back! I play them then its my time to shine, no more friendlies (well one more). My first competitive game will be in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. But first Rotherham... Gutted. So we swapped strikers. I think we got the better deal. Up next competitive matches! We were reduced to 10 men before the break but it didn't knock us off our stride. We doubled the lead before they were reduced to 10 men themselves. Nice comfortable start to life at Parkgate and a place in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. 33 players and we got this guy. Poaching from Chelsea?! I forgot about the game against Chelsea U18. Huge opportunity to take a massive player and I wasn't going to let my Ass Man take it. Yeah maybe I should have let my Ass Man take it. Chris Leigh hits the jackpot and finishes the day a Chelsea player...probably not for long though. Lesson learnt. I have 30 players in all 3 squads down to U18's. Sounds plenty right? 15 losses in a row and I'm screwed! It says 9 men. It was already 3-1 and 15 minutes left when we were reduced to 10 men and then in injury time we picked up an injury. Good win. A quick change of tactic saw us play 4-3-3, still hoofball which seemed to work well. In goal for Malty Main is a familiar face for most...one Paddy Kenny. How the mighty(?) have fallen. Putting 6 past Paddy Kenny felt good. We were 6-0 up and they were down to 10 men before we decided to mentally exit from the game. I was never worried but maybe not as happy as I could have been! Either way we get a player. Out of 32 players we got... I would like to stress that this is completely random. You couldn't make it up honestly. Welcome aboard Paddy Kenny. andychar Posted February 18, 2018 Author Share Posted February 18, 2018 FA Cup Paddy Kenny is on £350 per appearance. My wage budget is £150. He is an expensive steal. I want a good run in the cup. Not only will it give the club some money but it will give me a chance to poach players from higher divisions. Next up was Tividale who play in the 9th Tier of English football, the same as Parkgate. We were heavy favourites even though we are both top of our divisions. Everybody is knackered ahead of the game so fingers crossed they are the same! I've also made the executive decision that the rule only counts after 90 minutes. Winning in Extra Time or Penalties means nothing happens. I don't think a team should be penalised with essentially two draws. If you disagree let me know. Boom Parkgate are in the FA Cup First Round! (Qualifying). Paddy Kenny was slowly but surely bleeding the team dry but we needed to put that on the back burner and concentrate on grabbing more players! More chances and more possession means nothing when the score looks like this. My first FMing of the save and it means we lose a player. 33rd player out of 33 was randomly selected. Nice young player who had a bit of potential. Could have been worse. It was important to bounce back after the first defeat of the league season. 2-0 at HT and very comfortable. Suddenly 2 penalties and a red card later we were at 2-2 and I was pretty livid. Fortunetly we hit them on the break straight after the 2nd penalty to retake the lead. A good defensive performance meant we held on for a great win against a strong team at that level. IRL AFC Mansfield are top of the league by a country mile. All it means is I get another striker player. Ok this I was very happy with. I need a new LB and got a 5 star player (for my team anyway). He will go straight into the team. I will be returning to my home village in the hopes of bringing somebody back with me! Honours even, everybody makes it onto the bus home. We were second best so not going to complain about a nice away point. Gorleston were next in the FA Cup. They play in the same Tier as us which when you consider that this round tiers 7 and 8 come into it it wasn't a bad draw. They are top of their league with 4 wins from 5 and a draw. With an away draw I don't really fancy our chances. He also scooped up Young Player of the Month. Smoochie Boochies was 3rd in the Manager of the Month awards. Decent start. Good start to the season only 3 points off top. Anyway back to the FA Cup... We threw away a 3-1 lead in the second half but we are in the hat for the next round and more importantly nothing else happens. The reply will be the next game and we will have to fancy our chances at home. Also been thinking if it comes to it I could do this for International Management. It would probably be the end of the line for the winner but it could add some serious funds to the team. We played well away from home and although we were 3-1 up I'd say a draw was the fair result. We needed a repeat performance at home if we were to get through and more importantly potentially gain a starter. We went 1-0 down early on and 2 minutes after they had a goal disallowed we equalised. We jumped ahead not long after. Gorleston were then reduced to 10 men and we took full advantage. It was an even game but we took our chances and we win the right to host the National League North side as well as gaining a player. We gained an injured LM who was in their U23 side. We don't play anybody on the wing. Unlikely he will see a single second of action...welcome! Up next...a few away games in the league before a huge game against Gainsborough Trinity. First up was an away trip at Barton Town. Yes THE Barton Town. So frustrating. 1-0 up at Half Time and dominating then a different team showed up for the second half. Good riddance to whoever leaves. He's played in every game this season, could be a big loss. Oh and he was also our captain. We need to bounce back against Rainworth Miners Welfare. We need a win because lets face it Gainsborough are going to beat us and we cant afford to lose 3 players in a row. Its a pub. Surely we can beat a pub! Yes we can. andychar Posted February 23, 2018 Author Share Posted February 23, 2018 FA Cup Adventure While we were smacking 8 past Rainworth Miners Welfare Gainsborough Trinity were getting beat 3-1 by York City. If we were to get anything out of this game we needed to be at our best, them to be at their worst and a lot of luck. Well we weren't embarrassed but its a shame to lose. We lose this guy and personally I'm delighted. He was our Vice Captain, the honour now goes to Paddy Kenny. As one door closes another opens. We maybe out the FA Cup but the next match is in the FA Vase. Another chance to potentially take players from a higher division although the first game is against a team from Tier 10 so we will be favourites. He came back and I didn't even notice. I'm going to be very controversal here and say...I'm keeping him. I tried to move him using the editor and for some bizarre reason he came back. I have changed his name however... Look at him...the shifty bugger. Anyway back to the football. Comfortable win in the end and we advance to the first round of the FA Vase. We get a player but I have no hopes of him being an improvement. Another striker who won't play. Bonus. Paddy Kenny's wages for 3 weeks. We drew AC London in the 1st Round of the FA Vase. They play in Tier 10, 1 Tier below us and the badge isn't awesome in the slightest. Looks like SI didn't get the rights to Arsenal. Back to the league now, we have 5 games in hand over some teams thanks to our exploits in the FA Cup. Makes you wonder what would have happened had we gotten any further! So its been a while since we played in the league but apparently we have fixtures we need to fulfil. We are away to 4th place Handsworth Parramore. We sit in 12th but have games in hand over every single team in the league. That being said we haven't strengthened the team for a while so I don't really know where we sit in the league. I have a feeling if we want to be going up this season this is a game we need to be getting something from. First half we were terrible. 2-0 down and being utterly outclassed. Second half was like watching a different team. We were brilliantly and suddenly we were 3-2 up. Unfortunately we couldn't hang on but both teams did enough to earn a point. Fair result. No movement and we move onto the next league game. Feels like its been ages since we have played a home league game. In fact out of the 8 league games we have only played 2 at home, and won them both. Staveley Miners Welfare up next, the last time we faced a pub we destroyed them. More of the same please. 2-0 after 7 minutes and I thought it was going to be a cricket score. Nope. 83 minutes of boring crap but 3 points is 3 points. I feel we picked up some great players early on but that's shifted now. We are picking up crap. Next up...you'll be surprised to know...is a cup game. This time its Northern Counties Cup. Not the most glam cup but with the prospect of losing a player I feel I need to try and win every game. Garforth come into this game in good form and are 4th in the league so it will be a tricky game. Remember players only swap based on 90 minute matches. Extra Time or Penalties mean nothing happens. Disappointing is an understatement. We looked comfortable at 2-1 up but decided to give away a stupid penalty. Then with stoppage time approaching Paddy Kenny decided not to bother trying to save a weak shot. Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep if he went. Odds are it was going to be a striker we lost. Again he falls into the category of could have been better could have been worse. So another cup defeat leaves us in just one the FA Vase. Maybe now we can actually start playing some league games! Thackley are next, we need to bounce back from the cup defeat. We were 2-0 down with 5 minutes to go before giving ourselves a chance and then equalised in the 95th minute. We deserved a point and only fell behind in the first place because of a comical own goal. No player shifting and we move on to the next game. A home game! Hemsworth Miners Welfare is next, we are good against pubs so fingers crossed it can be another 3 points here. We say goodbye to Alex Archer... Not because we lost but because he had the guts to ask to play more first team football. He was shown the door. I’ve got a little spreadsheet of players I’ve got and if they are a starter. What I’ll do is update it to how many appearances they make otherwise it’s pointless.
