SICARIO POSSESSION

xavi.thumb.jpg.4952bcb588ac7b17f0ccffb9c2eb9543.jpg

Possessing the ball has always been a key concept in football. However, with the success enjoyed by Barcelona and Spain in past years’ possession football and how to possess the ball has taken on even more reputation. Viewing those teams at their best was enthralling. The ball was pinged around in quick transition, mostly the short one two passes as if it was a pinball while the opposition looked on usually helpless to do anything about it.

Such an ability to move the ball around is based on countless hours of practice and an almost telepathic understanding of teammates. But at its core Spanish possession soccer has a number of key principles that can be employed by any team. They won’t make you play like Spain but, if employed, they will improve your team’s ability to retain possession of the ball.

What is Sicario Possession?

Sicario possession is a tactic design for those FM lovers who seek to enjoy a mesmerizing passing game, the key concept of the tactic is possession, pressing & counter. There is two version of Sicario Possession tactic; which is a Counter tactic that can be utilized to have more control of the possession and be more cautious during counter attacking. However, unlike the Counter version the Attacking version is design to have possession and at the same time attack with urgency, which is more goal score oriented. There is no home and away version of the tactic. If you wish to play cautious try the Counter, if you prefer more goals try the Attacking version.

Ball Control & Team Work

Why Ball Control as general training? The key reason to apply ball control in general training is so that you can ask your coaches to give more attention in training session to improve your players Dribbling, First Touch, Heading, Technique and Flair as these are key attributes for a possession oriented football.

Glad to hear that!

Since you are using Man United, i suggest  you to try the attacking beta version. Please see the above post for update download link.

I've tried your tactic with Wolves team (first season) and I had very mixed results. There are some positives - offensive plays are nice to watch, possession play also looks excellent, howerver

it was terrible defensively. I've lost at least 1-2 goals each match (sometimes more), and usually there were very easy goals (like tap-ins from close range, or when my opposition basically walked ball into the net).

In terms of player talent Wolves are one of the stronger teams in Championship, so I was quite surprised by the results.

Thank you for providing the feedback. I would definitely consider this in my final release during my Huddersfield season end. I have also come to notice that their is still room for improvement with those goals getting conceded. However, my first thought when building the tactic was not to concede goals from set pieces, specially the corners. I will definitely revise the current tac file and keep the post updated in coming days. By the way how many goals did you score in total and how many did you concede and what was your league standing at the end of the season?

Once again thank you for the feedback and wish you a successful era at Wolves!

How often do you change between versions ? which one is the one you are using in Huddesfield ?

In first half of the season I use  Sicario Possession Counter & Attack but second half of the season i switch to IWB versions because in first half of the season my defense was too leaky, conceding too many goals. My best bet is to go with IWB version as it is more solid in defense.

To be fair mate, you are Huddersfield. To only concede 48 goals and end up second with a newly promoted side is pretty good in my opinion.
