FM18 4-3-3-0 Narrow - possession, chances, ridiculous passing!

Recommended Posts

I am not sure how actually good this tactic is, as i made it on the spot, just putting stuff i like in and even then made change before even testing to accommodate players in team (Bournemouth).

Wanted to make decent offensive tactic that i would use to transform bottom team. I dislike 3 defenders, and really dont like wing back position, i prefer DR and DL. Also, due to last couple of games, i grew to avoid AMR and AML because i dislike wingers and just crossing it in and because regens are almost never Inner Forwards, as they are almost always right footed AMR and left footed AML. And there are too many strikers after couple of seasons, so i prefer to go strikerless. So my choice was 41230 or 4330, both narrow. Went at first with 41230, but transformed to 433 because Bournemouth has several MC DLP players.

My goal is not to find some "cheat" tactic that works best with engine with 3 defenders + wing backs or 3 strikers etc. Goal is a tactic that fits what i like and how i want to play, as well as getting good results.

Turned out to give plenty of nice results, to the point that i was shocked (still am), so i am wondering if others will have same success, or it was just luck.

Anyway, i leave everything, other than lineup, to assistant manager and i use instant result skin. First season in, players are not really tailor made for the tactic, but anyway... here it is. Didnt change set pieces, penalty takers or anything other than positions, roles and instructions, both team and player ones. And even then im not sure about some of them as this is all first edition with no tinkering or adjusting at all. So probably plenty of improvement possible, especially if someone knowledgeable takes a shot at it.

But if anything, looking forward to some feedback and 2nd opinion by others, to see if my results are fluke or it really is down to tactic. Also would be nice to see the effect of tweaks on it and how far can it go.

Nice results but I've found anything with three strikers or three AM's to be seriously OP this year. The oppositions defence gets overloaded far too easily in the middle and you just end up having a open attackers all the time. Games just become rinse and repeat for me with any set-up like this.
