This looks like its not going to be nearly as soul destroying as last year! Good start in my eyes.

Seconded. Something's feeling mighty different about this save, even if it's much harder to reach the top domestically at the moment. The past few intakes have all been breathtaking!

Our first ever cup win! That was an important one, as it's sending us back into the Europa League, making up for a dismal league performance:

We never got going in the league at all, and it's only the cup that's saved our season and sent us back into Europe. I'll take it :D

Harsh way to get eliminated, but the money we got from this run means...

Much sooner than I expected, and it sounds like that's making the jump from Amateur to Professional without even bothering to turn Semi-Pro first :D Let's see if it actually goes through..

Youth Intake Day!

Golden Generation take two:

A very tidy RB, which was an area we were weak in.

Really glad to get some size in the team. We were lacking a bit of physicality beforehand, so a 6'6 CB should help us out :D

He looks like a well rounded CM.

He could be a decent keeper.

So you've maxed out youth recruitment and are very high on junior coaching, which is excellent, but no updates to training or youth facilities. Do you have the option to increase those or are you more interested in the other two?

To be honest maxing Youth Recruitment in San Marino in very short time makes sense. I wouldn't call it a bug unless you can do the same in lower league London team.

After speaking with a few people and looking around a few threads, it seems it's much easier to improve youth recruitment and facilities in general this version of the game, *BUT* beyond it being harder to hold on to players, the maintenance of the youth setup is now also much, much more expensive!

So I think it's all intentional game design choices.

Thing is, the 2 areas that JupJamie has boosted, do not need immediate cash investment but more over time.  Those 2 alone will not produce a super player as such, as you'd need decent Youth Facilities also which do need to be bought with cash, and JupJamie has not gone down that route yet.

My guess is not having the money for it

Gato is right. I care less about training/youth facilities when we're still Amateur, because I figure that if they're only training a couple days a week it doesn't really matter how nice the facilities are. Now that we've turned Pro, when we start getting some decent money from European football we'll pump it into the facilities :D

This is starting to look bugged the other way around, last year it was impossible, now it's too easy. :D

Balanced by how hard it seems to be to hold on to your players, though.

Interesting points here, guys :D Our Youth Setup cost us 154k last year - that seems cheap compared to other people's expenditure? I guess having such poor youth facilities factor into that. I wonder if as the Youth Recruitment is only related to the rest of the country, our costs would be lower because while the facilities are superb for San Marino, they're actually fairly poor in comparison to the rest of world?

It definitely seems like the system this year allows for much greater freedom when asking for upgrades. As long as you have the money for it, you can go and get it, which is a better system, although I'd say that it might be bugged for a different reason - not that it's too easy to upgrade, but that it seems too easy to upgrade even when you may not have the money long-term to sustain it.

Indeed! Recruitment and coaching is a much longer term development that'll drain our finances consistently over time, whereas the major cost with facilities are upfront to actual build the things (and then pay for a second pair of builders because the first ones you hired fecked the whole thing up)

Hello, new best friend.

Always a fan of big, ugly centrebacks.

He has a horrible fake tan.

Good set of physicals on him.

My assistant reckons he's the pick of the bunch from this intake. We'll see. We're incredibly light upfront, so I hope so.

He looks fairly decent. Both these two are already starting strikers for us.

So, yeah. Not the worst intake...

This is new. @SoloTitano, would you happen to know anything about this?

It's the FA youth team.

It was included also in previous versions, but with different name (Federazione Sammarinese). This summer they had a restyling.

For FM18 is more important as we implemented the correct format for italian youth leagues, and this team take part at (a sort of) level 2 of U18 italian league. (as in irl)
