[FM18] A New Avenue For The Discarded...

We have 7 current English internationals, going by latest squad, 6 of which were from our own academy. Josh Hope is the exception.

Could have been 8 and 7 respectively, only for Lloyd's broken ankle.

Two months down, and we smashing it.

I rested the starters against Shakhtar, for the Burnley game. Football manager.

Looking pretty comfortable right now.

Heck of a battle here.

How about Liverpool then?

Not sure how Simeone is still in the (incredibly)hot seat.

Liverpool and Rotherham separated by just six league places ;)

Hey, looks like you've won the league. Twice.

I enjoyed that league won on goals scored. :D I've felt it the other way around, lost a promotion on goals scored on my career, I imagine winning it like that must be pretty damn sweet. Also how does it feel like to ruin the domination of Man Utd, of all teams? ;)

Time to win the big CL now, surely? I'm a bit surprised that you got knocked out by Lyon last time around, seems a bit out-of-character for the otherwise superb performance. Have you been focusing on the league for now?

The league on goals scored is the most fun league win I've ever had in any FM, couldn't get much more to the wire. As for breaking Man Utd's run, surprisingly good. Mourinho's been giving us constant crap before, during and after every fixture, so popping him in the mouth is good.

Nah, can't say I was that season, I gave the CL a proper go, and underestimated Lyon. They had some really good players and a pacey striker that just picked us apart. That said, if I can battle with United, I should be able to manage it, as they're the biggest club in the world at the moment.

It's depth and consistency that is our problem, could be a case of having to give up the league if we look like having a good shot the CL.

Sheldon. Remains salty, a legend.

We literally had zero right to take anything from that game.

Arsenal takes a 2-0 lead....

Sheldon: "Oh hell no I ain't losing to these 4th place trophy merchants"

one vengeful hat-trick later....

Sheldon: "Suck my balls, mate"

I was hoping you had come back from 2-0 down at half time.

It's a shame, it would have been beyond perfect, but I'll take the comeback win any way we get it!

Winter window's open and we're flying high, but we were similarly on top last season and still it ended up going to the final games, we won't get too excited yet.
I think the squad is stronger though, and growing, feels like our depth is sturdier too, I think we can hold on and maybe challenge in Europe, but it'll take very careful squad rotation and great injury luck.

Smooth sailing to this point. The Everton game was insane.

Three times they took the lead, three times we pegged them back. Twice almost instant replies!

Very comfortable place to be, for now. Arsenal are trying to do a Liverpool.

Up next is a very tough Atletico side.

Liverpool still not doing great, but they could easily still run up the table.

That's four of the last five Golden Boys coming to Bradford.

Great stuff!

That Shakhtar game was crazy and then to draw against Burnley...classic. FM don't ever change.

This lad was the only January move, another Leiria boy signed in the summer, we had to wait for him to turn 18, I forgot to set up the trial until he joins deal.

Two more months down, and we continue to fire at will, barring the odd bizarre moment...

c2cafa6cfed54307be789f51dba4a32e.png

In classic FM'ery, our starters contrive to lose to one of the worst sides in the division, whilst our backups and youths win the Carabao Cup against Man Utd.
The Atletico game was lucky, they had a goal disallowed that looked good to me, they're quite the terrifying side this year, lead by a 33 year old Dybala and a monster Peruvian regen. We got some away goals though, so have the advantage to take home.

cdedd3125a5171f3273dd177b0c7cbf9.pngeeea3ff521db798e0c91f0a46534db12.png

Amazingly Dybala is still at his peak, if a touch slower than he once was. Still fairly rapid, mind!

e1390105404a7ed5289ba7d769495ed1.png

We're holding strong so far, a 13 point lead in March should by rights be unassailable. Arsenal look to be righting the ship.

5121d5acda6c61a03176337609c18c03.png

Liverpool have gone on a run, and look on course finally.

You're making great progress with Bradford. How far do you see yourself going in the CL this season?

If we can get past Atletico and get a decent draw, semis, maybe?

I mean, we can handle Man Utd, reigning CL winners, and highest rep club in the world, so by right we should be competitive against any team....

Youth Intake Day!

Or FM Christmas, as it's also known..... probably..... to me at least!

Anyway! It's been quite the excellent one, and our HOYD reckons we have our third(IIRC) generational talent. The more interesting thing to me is, after saying the youth teams were pretty barren defensively, in swoops RNGeebus, and boom, CB's!

95e69c40d605f18236839cce33b99f4d.png4a5f4ff2b5eb07bdfae7dd669c4352ad.png

This is actually a pretty deep intake. I mean, if you consider 3 stars for us is about *this good*, if that lot hit the currently expected levels, we'll be doing brilliantly. Of course, not all of them will, or will have their CA spent in a less useful way, but that's the game. Maybe some will be better than expected too...

9b88e3435b79ac275f341066e0ddf9fe.png

This is the generational pick. Needs some real work defensively. Gotta love his size and physical skills, he's 15!

63cd57cc06b42e5b2e72cb29c88f45d7.png

This guy though(again massive for a youngster), possibly excites me more. Reckon if we can get his tackling up he could end up the better player, or the more useful, at least.

b3d2df2df876e8a07a2c1d214235ca38.png

This guy looks really handy too, if he has room to develop.

Almost certainly going to be relegated, dead last and 8 points from 21st and 38 games, but the away fans got one hell of a day out...

Almost afraid to ask, but how are Hull doing? In my current England save they seem to have mastered the art of the 0-0 draw.

Made the playoffs in the first few seasons, but have since settled to a lower half championship side. This season they sit 18th, safe enough from relegation.

Not completely 0-0's, but masters of the draw indeed, this season they so far have 21, with the next highest team having 13.

Another cracking intake! What’s happening with the scousers!!!

6 games left, they're in 11th and 11 points behind a promotion spot, close to sacking a second manager this season.

Pilkington is 15 and already 6"5 & 12st, while Andricevic is 6"8 & 13st. You could make a decent NBA back court out of those 2 :brock:

By any chance your HOYD is actually Big Sam in disguise?

He's not bad, either, just a shame I have no use for wingers. Can slightly play fullback though, so we'll see if he can learn to defend. I expect not.

We're probably not friends any more.... Not that we ever were. Add the league fixture and it's 2-10.

This message popped up after the first leg.

Gotta love that even in a losing effort, Sheldon picked Arsenal's defence apart, if he wasn't injured for it I'm sure the FA Cup game wouldn't have gotten close to ET.

Smooth sailing.

Liverpool need to win both games, and have Wolves lose both to make the playoffs. Can't see it happening.

Wow, you've gone up a gear this season, surely the league's done now, and it could be the defining season in Europe as well.

A stupid idea: perhaps once you've taken BPA to worldwide glory you could go and save Liverpool from misery? :D

Would you mind uploading your save ?

It could be an interesting challenge to take that Liverpool team back to glory.

Even more with the competition of Bradford Park Avenue.

I'm not sure they'd enjoy my way of saving them....

We're off to the Nou Camp, to face....... Barcelona.
