LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB.

BACKGROUND

Los Angeles Football Club is an American professional football team based in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The team plans to begin play in Major League Soccer (MLS) starting in 2018. The team was announced in October 2014.

The ownership group is headed by venture capitalist Henry Nguyen, entrepreneur Peter Guber, and former National Basketball Association executive Tom Penn. The ownership group also includes businessmen Ruben Gnanalingamand Vincent Tan. In addition, the club has a further 21 named investors including Magic Johnson, Nomar and Mia Hamm-Garciaparra, Chad Hurley, Tony Robbins and Will Ferrell.

John Thorrington was hired as executive vice president of football operations.

The ownership sought input from fans to decide the permanent name and logo. On November 7, 2014, Nguyen expressed a preference for the name Los Angeles Football Club being permanent, describing it as "timeless" and saying, "in the world, football means one thing. Maybe it speaks a little bit to our own vision and our own aspirations." On September 15, 2015, the club announced the placeholder name, Los Angeles Football Club, would be the official team name.

On May 17, 2015, the Los Angeles Times reported the team chose the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena site at Exposition Park to build a new stadium. The Banc of California Stadium will have 22,000 seats and 140,000 square feet of open space, costing US$350 million. The group estimated the project would create 1,200 temporary construction jobs and 1,800 full-time jobs, generating $2.5 million in annual tax revenue. The environmental impact report, arena demolition and stadium construction are expected to take three years and delay the team's debut to 2018.

The seating capacity of the stadium will be 22,000. The stadium's seating will be at 34 degrees, which makes it among the steepest in MLS. The closest seats will be 12 feet from the field and every seat will be within 135 feet of the field. It will include 125,000 square feet (11,600 m2) of walkways and plazas open to the public. The stadium will also feature press box suites with a swimming pool.

The roof will be covered with 190,000 square feet (18,000 m2) of ETFE film. The field will be 86,000 square feet (8,000 m2) of improved bermuda grass.

Five percent of the stadium's parking spaces will have electric vehicle charging stations and 20% electric vehicle ready infrastructure. The stadium will have 440 planned parking spaces for bicycles and a bike path to the stadium as part of the My Figueroa Project. The stadium will be a LEED Silver certified building.

LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB appoint Adam Wilson as manger on a  £9,750 p/w contract Until December 2018

The Club currently has no backroom staff which is something im going to work on in my first few month in charge. We do not enter the MLS until next season so have a lot of time to consider the right people for the roles.
As far as the first team goes we currently have 3 players on the books who are all out on loan they can be seen below. As well as our main attraction arriving in January , Our marquee man CARLOS VELA.
1DC5CCA51E38A6735CCF0149253F1D2542E86DDA

46098DFEB79E2206D165268C5FABED03009F6573
As you can see the 3 current players are not of the highest quality but will certainly help out at the beginning. As for Carlos Vela not only will he be the best player in this team by far, He will also most likely be the best player in the whole of the MLS.

The fact that this club is starting from a clean slate gives us a massive ammount of potential to mould the team how we want early on. On the flipside though it also makes things a lot harder as finding around 25 players of MLS quality who dont already have a club is practically impossible. We could use some of our trades to sign them but I would like to try to avoid that.

LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB TODAY ANNOUNCE THE SIGNING OF DIEGO FORLAN ON A 2 YEAR CONTRACT.

Ok so not the greatest of signings but his stats are still pretty decent and he will definitely help the squad moving forward. The best part was not only is he a free transfer but he also only wants £950 yes thats £950 per week!!!

EX BALLON D'OR WINNER LEAVES ORLANDO FOR LOS ANGELES.

Absolutely delighted with this deal. Kaka signs a 2 year contract and joins on a free transfer. His stats still show he has what it takes to play at this level and his experience will be crucial in the devolpment and growth of this football club.
Also Ashley Cole has decided to switch sides of the city again on a free transfer. Not the greatest left back in the world anymore but again its the experiance which this club needs going forward.

Nice start. Best of luck to you on this great venture.

Thankyou very much. Nice to know someone is keeping an eye out. There's been a few more signings (nothing major) which I'm gonna show in bulk in the next post.

Can anyone do this? Seems really interesting to start a club from scratch! Like can I set up as manager of LAFC and I can do it? Or do you need the editor?

how can you take control of team that isn't in league yet?? O.o

how is your wage and transfer budget?

You can take over them at the start of the game but you dont enter the MLS until after the first season which gives you a good ammount of time to get your team ready. You only start with 3 players plus carlos vela as a future transfer and no staff.

Wage budget at start of mls is around 500k and transfer funds around £10m bearing in mind you can have 3 marquee (designated) players who dont come out of that wage budget. You can offer these upto around 180k per week each.

Yes anyone can do this with Los Angeles FC they start with no staff and 3 players plus one future transfer. If you go in create a club mode though you can replace any club in the game and customise everything from the badge to the stadium.

PRE SEASON BEGINS - FIRST FRIENDLY MATCH

So today we play our first friendly of the season as the team is basically brand new I didnt want too hard of an opposition. We will be playing a home fixture against Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
This is how both teams line up for the match.

An absolutely fantastic result! Regardless of there quality we played an amazing game. We dominated possesion and the players looked really comfortable playing together. Another bonus is we got through the match without any injuries. And to see Kaka, Carlos Vela and Diego Forlan all score was just an added bonus. I noticed both CB's only had orange familiarity in whatever role I put them in so this is an issue going forward. The MLS superdraft is coming soon and we are due to have first pick. If I cant sort this problem before then I might have to let the best player/players go in order to find a suitable CB.

UPCOMING MLS SUPERDRAFT 2018
DCDA503A350046593DBD71EC18F51255057C1D0F
These are the upcoming suggested picks for the upcoming Draft as mentioned im my previous post though I might have to let a few of the star players pass by in order to bolster my defence. Out of all the players listed only Matthew Warren is a CB and the fact he expected to be 15th choice tells me there is a lot better players I could be picking. I have made sure my scouts are following them all up until the draft takes place. Big decisions to be made.

DRAFT DAY AND BEYOND.......
So the draft was a bit of a dissapointment we scouted every player and to be honest they were all pretty terrible we used our first pick on Paul rivera as we were struggling in the AML department.

We also managed to get Matthew Warren and Bartosz Stefanksi to strengthen the CB positions.

After the draft had finished we managed to snag 2 amazing free transfers Marky Delgado and Santiafo Silva Both of very high quality for this league.

Straight after the draft we also had our first major test. A friendly match against fellow MLS side San Jose Earthquakes would give us a better read on how the team is doing.

Absolutely delighted with this performance. Considering this team have only been playing together a couple of week this feels like a victory, as you can see above not only did we manage more shots than the oppsition but we even had more possesion.
A sore point was the referee deciding to disallow what looked like a perfectly fine winner in the 82nd minute. But with 2 massive names due to arrive in February and only one designated player slot left to fill a big decision is gonna have to be made.
Carlos Vela is perfecly safe but only a few week after joining could KAKA's place be in jeopardy ?????

I will be looking forward to seeing how you get on with this, did you try to go for Pirlo or Ronaldinho or were they not available to sign ?

Imagine a team with Kaka, Pirlo, Forlan, Cole, Ronaldinho and Vela.

I didnt Pirlo is retiring and Ronaldinho is already retired on my save. Calos Vela is best suited to AML on the game though so a ST is on the way.

LOS ANGELES FC CALL PRESS CONFERENCE

Could not be happier with this transfer a player I personally adore. This could be a real game changer going forward with KAKA playing AMC and VELA playing AML the need for a top striker was essential. Step forward World Cup winning spaniard FERNANDO TORRES. Current rating in the game sitting at 5 stars he will fit perfectly into the starting 11. Yes he may be 33 but his stats are still amazing not just for this division but for most major leagues in europe. He comes into the team off a good season with Atletico Madrid where he averaged 7.74 and being a household name he will no dount bring fans to the games.

Hopefully we will see the FERNANDO TORRES that sent fear into defences around europe.

Wow what a signing, how much did Torres cost you, have you looked at other players in the MLS like Max Urruti as he was a beast for me when I signed him from Dallas for Bristol City in FM2017, also did you look at Drogba cos he was available for a free but retires within a season, also Giovinco or Diego Valeri are worth looking at.

Torres was a free transfer :brock: yeah I looked at Giovinco but he is out of reach due to MLS rules even though we have £11m transfer funds we can only offer other MLS teams a maximum of £1.1m so would have to use future draft slots too. There is even more breaking news on the way this is a big one!

KAKA TO LEAVE LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB AFTER JUST OVER 2 MONTH???

THIS WAS THE BIG SIGNING TEASED EARLIER ON

The big man is here. I noticed in pre season that our signing Roland Alberg's stats were the same if not slightly better than KAKA's and he is only 27 years of age. The original plan was to keep them both but when this man mountain became available things have had to change. Al Alhi were more than happy to take KAKA from our hands and I was more than happy to make space for YAYA. The strength that he will give the team in the middle of the pitch will win us several points throughout the season and at 34 he is younger than the departing KAKA.

See below his stats are still sensational MLS teams better watch out!!!!!

With all these superstars your signing..you should rename to LA Galatigos:lol:

Haha yeah the team has certainly picked up a few big names but im not getting over confident on the season ahead. Our defence is the weakest part of our club and with so many new players it will take a while to gel. Still it should be entertaining.

Just a minor update before the season starts we had the waiver draft which is for players who are not registered for a team come the MLS registration deadline. We managed to pick up a average CB by the name of Johnathan Cambell and beleive or not USA first choice goalkeeper Sean Johnson who im very happy to have. He is 28 years of age and currently has 9 caps. I think he has taken over Brad Guzan since he announced his international retirement.

Overall im very happy with the result its our first competitve game together as a club and to get a point away from home feels like a victory. Santiago Silva scored 2 on his debut and even though Fernando Torres didnt find the scoresheet he provided both assists. Harry Shipp played awful with a 0% cross conversion at half time that saw the end of the game for him. Still weak defensively and that AML position is a bit of a worry going forward.

UNBELIEVABLE LUCK

So after the last game when I was doing my assessment I commented how we were weak in the AML position. After I had checked all the match analysis to find out where we could improve I hit continue and this news item came in.

B6E73434D3A3CCBA3389C80A68256F9F37E9A592

Not knowing who he was I decided to click on his profile.......

2FD8782294C76EA781EF5ACD101D9289BA229405

He has a green rating in AML what are the odds!!!!! And not only that but at £4.2m apart from Carlos Vela he would be the second most valuable player in the team.
As you can imagine a few teams put free bids in but as we werent in the MLS last season we were the lowest ranked team by default so..............

hey nice story, been following up with LAFC in real life. qn, why did you change from 4-2-3-1 to a 4-2-4? isn't it a lil top heavy? Yaya and Vela are your 2 DPs?

YAYA, VELA, and TORRES DPs. And I decided to make the switch as our star AMC was carrying an injury and the replacement wasnt upto par. In some mathces in pre season I tried the 4-2-4 and it worked well. I also felt against Philly there was goals to be had. My AMC is just about back to full fitness now though so we could revert back against Toronto.

Firs game in our brand new stadium ends in a draw, It was certainly a spectacle for the fans. Another 2 goals for Santiago Silva and a Fernando Torres strike earned us a point, but again our defence let us down. I'm not too concerned at the moment though because we remain unbeaten 2 games in and I beleive the problems at the back are due to the players not having enough time to gel together.

New signing Jack Harrison finished with a match rating of 7.2 and provided the assist for the Torres goal. Ashley Cole also made his debut after returning from injury and finished with a 6.7 rating.
Sadly our AMC Roland Alberg left the pitch with pulled ankle ligaments and will be out for 2-7days and will miss the trip to NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION.

And there we have it our first win in the MLS and im delighted. 3-1 away from home is a tremendous result. Again the form of Santiago Silva continues and a brace from Fernando Torres not only gets us the 3 points, but makes it 3/3 in the league for him.
On a slightly negative note though we still fail to keep a clean sheet but it was the least ammount of goals we have conceded in a league match this season.

Carlos Vela had to leave the pitch after 19 minutes with a damaged ankle but scans have revealed it was more a precaution to sub him and he should be fit to play the next game.

Oh man. This is a good story! I'll definitely keep up. It's always hilarious to me how FM predicts the transfers within MLS working. Jack Harrison getting waived by NYCFC? Roldan going to New England?? Those transfers would never happen, but regardless I like that it adds some spice to the league.

You definitely need to improve on your defense, but hey, if you score 2 or 3 goals every game, who needs to keep a clean sheet!
