Deisler26
RKC Waalwijk Academy Watch: Class of 2019 In this section, we'll look at my historical youth intakes. At the end of every season, I'll go back and look at an intake from my time here at RKC and see if the key prospects worked out? Or if they flamed out, never to be seen again. This time, we've had a year under our belt together. It's the Class of 2019. Well. This one was a doozy, eh? We'll concentrate on the 3* prospects and up, unless there are any significant deviations. We had Robert Drost, Pieter Bruggeman, Vincent Schouten, Mart de Graaf, Anton de Vries and Erwin Schomaker as our 3* and up. Robert Drost Then: 16 years old, RKC Waalwijk Now: 21 years old, VfB Stuttgart Robert was our academy's first real success story. He made his senior debut for RKC in the 2018/19 season and went on to make 91 appearances overall for the club over 4 seasons, scoring 6 goals and assisting 4 times for a 7.03 average rating. During his time at the club, he lifted the Juplier League title in 2021. In the summer of 2022, he then moved to VfB Stuttgart for a £22.5m + 50% fee. In his two seasons in Germany, he has appeared 75 times for the club, scoring once and assisting 5 times for a 6.92 average rating Robert made his debut as a substitute for the Netherlands on March 2024, against Israel in a friendly. Sadly, this is the only cap he has picked up so far. Pieter Bruggeman Then: 16 years old, RKC Waalwijk Now: 21 years old, Lille OSC Pieter was my first hope at goalie, coming out of the academy. He made one appearance for us, getting a 6.5 rating. Sadly, these were the days of not much money and our chairman decided to sell him over my head for £700k to Lille OSC. He spent two seasons in the reserve team, making 45 appearances for a 7.10 rating. We then loaned back Pieter for our first season in the Eredivisie, where he made 20 appearances for a 6.97 average. Returning from loan in the summer of 2022, he made the number 1 shirt his own and has made 48 Ligue 1 appearances for a 6.62 average. Pieter is currently uncapped, but has made it into the Netherlands squad as a shock inclusion for the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament in Germany. Vincent Schouten Then: 15 years old, RKC Waalwijk Now: 20 years old, Vitesse Arnhem Vincent spent two years in our U-18 team, not making a first team appearance, before moving to Vitesse Arnhem in 2020 for £120k + 50%. After being moved down to Jong Vitesse, he made 86 appearances for them to this date, scoring 37 goals and assisting 5 times for a 7.18 average rating. Mart de Graaf Then: 16 years old, RKC Waalwijk Now: 21 years old, FC Twente Enschede Mart was sold after one season in our U-18's, not making a senior appearance. He then moved to FC Twente Enschede for £24.5k + 50%. After being moved down to Jong FC Twente, he made 93 appearances for them to present day, scoring 27 times and assisting 9 times for a 6.96 average rating. During the most recent season, he was called up to the FC Twente Enschede first team, making a sub appearance and making an assist for a 6.90 rating. Anton de Vries Then: 16 year old, RKC Waalwijk Now: 21 year old, sc Heerenveen Anton spent one season in our U-18's team before moving to sc Heerenveen for £125k + 50% the next season. He didn't make an senior appearance until a successful loan spell at v.v IJsselmeervogels making 34 appearances, scoring 21 goals and assisting 11 assists for a 7.53 average rating. Erwin Schomaker Then: 15 years old, RKC Waalwijk Now: 20 years old, RKC Waalwijk Erwin was marked for first team football from the moment he arrived into the U-18 side from the academy. Despite heavy interest and many offers (plus one well-timed contract signing), he has remained at the club and is a mainstay of the team. He's gone on to make 130 appearances for the club, scoring 9 goals and assisting 27 times for a 7.14 average rating. Erwin has picked 21 U-21 caps for the Netherlands so far, but no senior call up. He's also taken home a Juplier League winners medal as well as an Eredivisie one in his time are RKC. And we have one diamond in the rough who, whilst getting game-time as a backup RB, turned into something more than his alleged 2* rating would have shown. He is Patrick de Koning
Deisler26
Euro 2024 I had some time on my hands this summer and Israeli channel Sport 5 offered me some pundit work for the upcoming tournament. I accepted,as long as I only did the Netherlands games. They accepted and I could watch Groenveld hopefully take the tournament by storm. Game #1: Netherlands 1-0 Wales Groenveld didn't even get off the bench for this one. Sigh. Game #2: Netherlands 1-0 Sweden Groenveld left kicking his heels somewhat. Game #3: Netherlands 2-1 Ireland Hurrah! With the main Netherlands striker playing like he's swallowed a few tranquilsers, our boy came on in the 83rd minute and promptly proceeded to rattle the bar from 20 yards, just a minute later. He was also involved with the winning goal in stoppage time, setting free the winger to cross for the midfielder to finish, Second Round Game #4: Netherlands 2-0 Germany Welp. Groenveld's rival for the striking role scored early on, which meant no game time in this match for him. Quarter Final Game #5: Netherlands 1-1p Ukraine (Netherlands lost on pens) So, they finally rested the striker who was in Groenveld's way.. AND PLAYED SOMEONE ELSE THERE! To make things worse, he played like sh*t, but scored late on. They used all three subs early on in the second and poor Groenveld didn't get a sniff ------- Here endth the Netherlands' tournament -------- was the Final. Deisler26
RKC Waalwijk AUGUST 2024 TRANSFER WINDOW We'd reached the top of the Dutch pyramid last season. Now we needed to stay there. To facilitate this, we were given a £30m transfer budget with a £250k wage budget. We were also given a brief to make the UEFA Champions Group Stage, finish in the top half of the Eredivisie & make the KNVB Beker Quarter Final. We lost a coach to managing SBV Excelsior and our HOYD to France, so we picked up two replacements there. Results We took part in the traditional Dutch curtain raiser for the first time this season. Our trip to De Kuip for the Johan Cruijff Schaal proved a happy one as we got revenge on FC Groningen for our Cup Final defeat by thrashing them 3-0, thanks to a Thierry Ambrose double. With our Eredivisie kick-off this year, we were under more scrutiny as champions. However, thankfully we had no European qualifying to deal with as we took VVV Venlo to the cleaners in the opening game with a 4-1 win, thanks to Maarten Groenveld's hat-trick. A frustrating match against Feyenoord Rotterdam followed as we came back from 0-1 down to take the lead twice, before succumbing to a late goal to draw 3-3. We put that behind us to beat recent nemesis PEC Zwolle 3-0, but had to claw our way back from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 with FC Groningen. - Results - Table - Transfers We re-signed two former players this window. After reviewing Vincent Schouten's progress, it seemed like he would fit beautifully into the system, so for £1.5m plus a loan-back option, Vitesse Arnhem were glad to sell him. And for us, we got £750k of it back, due to the sell-on . Also coming in was defender Berry de Koning, who had just been released by Feyenoord Rotterdam after buying him for £750k a few seasons ago! He would be a backup for my main defenders. Sales-wise, I sold AMRLC/ST Bram Zandbergen to SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden for £1m. He'd been bought into the club on a free and I was looking to blood some of the academy youngsters. Next to go was Ukrainian defender Nikita Smirnov. A £300k deal with Shakhtar Donetsk was best for all parties. Finally, we had a deadline offer from OGC Nice for youth striker Tonnie Schouw. I really didn't want to get rid of him, but there was going to be a log-jam at striker coming up and a £1.1m deal (rising to £2.2m with add-ons and a 50% sell-on clause) meant that we could deal him from a position of strength and free up some space behind Groenveld. - Transfers -

He played all 90 mins, making 3 tackles and losing out on two. He also made 21 successful passes and had two shots, one saved and one lashed home from mere feet away to score a debut goal. He also ran 9km to earn him a 9.2 rating. Steven also came in as the youth heir-apparent to Kyle Ebecilio's role. He also played all 90 minutes, making 5 tackles and losing three. He also made 58 successful passes, one being an assist and had two shots, one flew over the bar from distance and the other was also smashed home from six yards for a debut goal. He also ran 13km for a 9.3 rating. Randel, a recent academy graduate, will play in one of the DLF positions eventually. He played all 90 minutes, running 11km. He made 30 successful passes, one being an assist and had three shots. One was saved and the other two were turned home almost on the line for a debut brace. His superb performance earned him a 9.6 rating. Sander became my #1 striking prospect after the sale of Tonnie Schouw. He played all 90 minutes, running 10km. He made 30 successful passes, two successful tackles and 5 shots. 3 flew wide of the right hand post, one was saved and one was turned in at the far post for a debut goal. His great performance earned him a 9.1 rating.

Deisler26
RKC WAALWIJK DEBUT WATCH 30.10.24, vs FC Oss (w 4-1 AET) Players making their debut: 2 16 year old Jack Coremans is a recent academy graduate with the potential to go all the way to the first team. It would have been higher, but he made a major mistake in which he slipped bringing the ball out of defence, allowing FC Oss to take a shock lead. 17 year old recent academy graduate Passeka van Lankveld is on the full back production line. He played all 120 mins, attempting 71 passes, completing 56 of them. He also attempted 13 tackles, winning 7 of them. Passeka's cross ratio was awful, connecting just 2 from 13 attempts, but he ran a lung busting 19.7km to end up with a 7.4 rating.

Deisler26
RKC Waalwijk JANUARY 2025 HALF-SEASON REVIEW We kicked off the post-transfer window September in the Eredivisie with our second 2-2 draw in a row, this time against FC Utrecht. However, it was notable for Xavier Doesburg's first league goal for the club. We then dispatched PSV Eindhoven 3-2, thanks to a Yassin Fortune double. Bottom club NAC Breda were then pushed to the wayside, 3-0. Our forward line continued to be on fire as they all scored in a 4-1 demolition of N.E.C Nijmegen. However, a substandard performance by the second team saw us fall 0-1 to Sparta Rotterdam. We got back to winning ways against sc Heerenveen with a good 3-0 win. Two 95th minute goals meant that we could only draw 2-2 with AFC Ajax Amsterdam. A good 1-0 win against FC Twente Enschede was followed by another hiccup from the second team as we lost 1-2 to league leaders AZ Alkmaar. A Maarten Groenveld hat-trick helped us past ADO Den Haag with a 4-1 win. This kickstarted a 5 game win streak. Heracles Almelo (2-1), SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden (3-2), VVV Venlo (4-0) and Feyenoord Rotterdam (2-0) all fell by the wayside on this streak. However, it came to a screeching halt with a 0-1 loss to Vitesse Arnhem. To finish off January, we beat PEC Zwolle 2-0, despite a sending off for Mauro Savastano. In the KNVB Beker, we faced lower league oppositions in Be Quick 1887 and we sent them back to Groningen with a spanking as we won 8-0. However, it took extra time for us to get past FC Oss as we scored 3 goals in the extra period to win 4-1. Sadly, our cup run came to an end with a penalty loss after a 1-1 draw against FC Utrecht. In our next foray into the UEFA Champions League, we were placed in Group C with Juventus, FC Porto and Dynamo Kyiv. And we were much, much better this time. Despite a whipping in Turin, we stunningly managed to come out of the group on top, thanks to a revenge 3-1 win against Juventus - Table - UCL Table - Results - Eredivisie - KNVB Beker - UEFA Champions League Transfers No-one in (shock horror!) Leaving the club was DRLC Sherel Floranus. He'd never been able to command a first team place in my side and was was being used wherever there was a gap. This wasn't enough for him, so I managed to recoup his original fee by selling him to FC Utrecht for £1.3m. Finally, on deadline day, I was being persistently hounded by FC Porto for my backup right back Jaimy Oosterveld. Despite only being 'worth' £425k, I got them to go as high as £1.5m (rising to £5.5m with add-ons) + 50%. It wasn't a sale I wanted or needed to do, but that amount of money for a player that wasn't even playing often, I couldn't argue.

Deisler26
RKC Waalwijk 2023/24 SEASON REVIEW We lived up to our Faalhaas reputation by throwing away the title. Disintegrating on the last day is not something I enjoy. I need to work on defending at the beginning and ending of games. Also, there are is a logjam of prospects to evaluate and/or sell. Finally, Maarten Groenveld is getting itchy feet after some interest from Arsenal. Final Table Results Cup Results: I want the Cup this year! UEFA Champions League Results: Silly defending let us down in the First Knockout Round Player Stats: Both fullbacks getting double digit assists this season End of Season Awards: Ambrose deserved the POTY title. End of Season Review: I agree on the game to forget. We were woeful.
SpikeHughes
Never mind always next season but recruiting should begin in earnest, big shoe’s to fill whoever takes over Groenveld if he does end up leaving. You could blood Bjorn Wels but he’s only 15 y.o. How much are you expecting for Groenveld? I know that my valuation and the computers valuation do differ a lot of the time.
