smp20
Another, of course expected, dominant domestic season. We slipped in terms of our European achievements but we were overachieving before. League Table We smashed our goalscoring record from last season, but a 1-0 loss against Gandzasar means that we still haven't achieved an unbeaten season. European Campaign There are still some very good results in there; we were a game away from the CL knockouts. Finances Despite spending a lot on bringing players in we are still in a very healthy position. Facilities Player Stats A good mix of youth and experience now and we rotated the squad a lot to share out the playing time. Overall Best 11 Pogga is now in the 200 club, and his goal-game ratio is outstanding. God Geloyan Georgie reaches club legend status and is now deemed 'World Class'. smp20
Champions League Qualifying 21/22 We're through to the groups in a very comfortable fashion, thrashing the champions of Montenegro, Georgia and Sweden on the way. A tough group. Dortmund are the champions of Germany, Benfica knocked us out of the EL last season and Dinamo could cause a few upsets.

smp20
This is how the group is looking after 6 games, 4 to go including 2 very tricky away games. Croatia also messed up vs Estonia, only picking up a draw against them.
smp20
Armenia World Cup 2022 Qualifying A brilliant campaign which has ended with us winning the group and qualifying for the World Cup . We lost two of the easiest games on paper, but Finland did end up finishing 2nd in the group overtaking Croatia in the last game (unfortunately not enough to go through as one of the best placed 2nd teams as well as England). We're off to Morocco! I have to say that I'm pretty happy with that group. Belgium should wrap up top spot, but we've got a good chance against Burkino Faso and Iran. I fancy us to finish 2nd. There are some interesting sides at the World Cup including Kuwait and El Salvador! I hope that this 11 will the be team I can put out in the World Cup. The front 4 of Mkhitaryan, Ozbiliz, Geloyan and Hakobyan is particularly exciting. Ozbiliz didn't even make the Euro 2020 squad. Yohan Djorkaeff has been ever-present at left back and looks to be something very special.
smp20
Champions League Group Stages 21/22 It was always going to be a very difficult group to qualify from but overall I was pretty happy with how we kept it competitive with the top 2 with the exception of the away game vs Benfica. 3rd Place and into the Europa . A tricky tie but Lyon are not the side they once were and I reckon we could upset them.

I'm playing a game as UCD in Ireland. They start in the 2nd division but have decent facilities and I've gotten a bunch of decent intakes through. I found hansa Rostock to be fruitful with players coming through only problem is you can't play in Germany untill your 17/18in the lower leagues. smp20
Europa League Final 2022 Really, really disappointing. We started poorly and Chelsea just attacked wave after wave, scoring 4 goals in the first 27 minutes. Despite all our efforts to get back in the game, it was to no avail except a singular consolation goal. Goalkeeper error and two deflected goals. Not that I have cause for complaint, we were awful. noikeee
I hadn't been here yet, but quite the spectacular progression you've had here with club & country - definitely no shame in losing the final to Chelsea like that. As a routine Eastern European manager (though some would debate whether Armenia is still Europe!), this is very much my kind of save so will keep an eye on this. True, it's just frustrating to get so far to be runners up yet again. We're looking good though. There's arguments whether many of the UEFA nations are actually in Europe . Cheers for following!! smp20
Road to the World Cup: Morocco 2022 We've had a good warm up campaign, starting with two very good defensive performances in March. A loss against Ivory Coast in our pre-group warm up games was disappointing, but at the same time we beat the hosts comfortably 3-1 with a great performance. We should be confident going in to the World Cup. We have the toughest game first against Belgium. Should we lose this and beat Burkino Faso everything could be riding on the game against neighbours Iran. The World Cup Squad to follow by position
smp20
Goalkeepers Grigor is a quality keeper. He has one glaring weakness - of course his height/jumping reach - but his excellent command and communication as well as his reflexes and ability in one-on-ones more than make up for his height. Ayvazov lost his no. 1 spot for Pyunik quite some time ago but he's a decent backup. Only ever played once for Armenia as before Apoula Edel was no. 1. Beglaryan is the only non-Pyunik player in the squad. He looks good and had a solid season for 2nd place Alashkert; made the squad after our 3rd choice keeper broke his hand against Morocco making his debut. smp20
Full Backs The manager's son. He's developed into a key player for club and country already and I fully expect him to become an Armenian legend. Kamo is our best player in our weakest area; right back. He's famous for scoring in the Euro 2020 final - a header no less! Once considered a firm starter for club and country, Arman Hov is now the prodigy's understudy. smp20
Centre Backs Gael is a great all rounder and has been very important for both club and country since moving to Armenia. He pops up with important goals. Arthur has only recently forged himself as first choice for club and country. He's developing very nicely and he will form a good partnership with Andonian. It is a shame that they are both left footed, but we'll cope with that. Griqor may look very average, but he has been an incredible performer for Pyunik over the years. Check out his average rating stats in European comps this season! Haroyan will be an excellent cover player at both centre back and right back. I'm contemplating starting him at right back to be honest.
smp20
Defensive Midfielders Don't let the red arrows fool you, Gazza has been developing very nicely. He's a great all round DM now, adding as bit of creativity to his game after bring trained as a roaming playmaker. Levon has only recently broke into the club and national team. He's a rapid developer and I expect him and Gazzo to form a great partnership; I think they complement each other nicely. Karlen brings bags of experience to the squad. Unfortunately his drop in physical ability has resulted in him becoming a bit of liability; 5 red cards in one season is ludicrous! Nadiryan is the creative type we can bring on in the middle if we are chasing, or if we need a bit of pace.
smp20
Wingers Lord Henrikh return to Pyunik saw him grab 75% of the votes for player of the season. No wonder; 24 goals and 37 assists in 46 games averaging 8.25 is insane! He's a class act still despite losing a bit of pace and we will be relying on his delivery from wide to create chances. Ozbiliz was overlooked for Euro 2020 (29 appearances in 5 years doesn't help) and he's a big game player. This could be his last major tournament so he will be looking to impress. Avagimyan has peaked already which is a shame, but he's still a decent traditional winger option on the right. Vahan could still develop into a good player for club and country; if he was brought to us earlier I'm sure he would be flourishing. Mkhitaryan has been tutoring him. smp20
Attacking Midfielders God Geloyan. He is will and truly up there as a superstar now. He is a game changer and I hope that he has a great World Cup. With him in the side, anything could happen. Another recent player to break into the first team, and also yet another signed from Banants, Mikaelyan will be Geloyan's backup. Long-term I see him as a striker. Pacey, technical and two-footed, Stepanyan is a good player to have in the squad and he's got more to live up to.
smp20
Strikers Banants-grown Hakobyan made his mark in France before coming back to Armenia for a whopping £6m. He's a class act, more of a complete forward than an out and out scorer although his record in Europe was outstanding. Pogga. I'm so sorry you're no longer first choice . But Hakobyan overtook him. He's still an impressive goalscorer; 20 goals in just 11 starts and 17 apps off the bench is nothing to knock.
