[Discussion] Scouting assignments - need limit to primary/secondary tactic

Problem:  Many if not most FM players have a primary and maybe secondary tactic and only sign players who fit that tactic.  Therefore, when you send a scout out to search a nation, for example, you want him to come back with reports on players who fit your tactics.  If you play a narrow tactic, you don't want your scout coming back with a list of wide midfielders.  It's a waste of time and clutters up your scouting list with all these players who are irrelevant to your preferred tactics.

Solution:  In the scouting assignment setup, there needs to be a condition that limits your scout to searching for players who fit your primary/secondary tactic (as defined as your first two tactics on your tactics screen).  For example, as it stands now, you can set a condition to have your scout search a region/nation, etc. for Position > Is Natural/Competent/Accomplished, etc at > Central Midfielder.  That's fine, but what is needed in addition is a choice for Position> is Natural/Competent, etc at > Primary Tactic).  This would be the most useful type of scouting assignment.  Instead of sending a scout out making reports on players who don't fit your tactic and you would never sign, or only searching for a single position when you don't want such a narrow search, your scout would come back with reports only on players you can actually use in your tactic.  Of course, this would be an OPTIONAL condition that must affirmatively be chosen, so if somebody wants his scout to search for any player regardless of position they can just not add the condition and leave the default search.  In addition, this option also should be applied to the "Role" condition.  As it is now, you can set up a condition to search for Role > Is/Partially > Roaming Playmaker.  So rather than having your scout merely searching just for the general positions in your tactics (e.g., central midfielder), you can have him out searching for the specific roles.  If you use a roaming playmaker and poacher, your scout will come back with a list that includes players whose role is/is partially roaming playmakers and poachers, no a bunch of useless reports on ball winning midfielders and target men.

Good idea. At the moment you can't really setup multiple scout assignments at once for multiple positions for your tactic.

In another thread I was developing the idea of making use of the squad depth screen to filter and view scouted players as they suit your chosen tactic to help with deciding on transfer targets.

This was the mock-up:

Encompassing your ideas, perhaps the same concept in utilising the squad depth view can be used to also setup scouting assignments based on your chosen tactic.

You could either tell your Chief Scout to scout all positions for players that will suit your tactics roles, or toggle only select positions and tell the scout to only look for players that will suit the current roles for your tactic. You could also set a master search criteria and then have more granular search per position to direct the scout in what to search for.
