Waterford competed in the European Cup in 1966-67, for the first time in their history I think?  I fancy moving to Ireland or Wales pretty soon, and an impending relegation gave me the chance to tick off the 2nd tier as well.  There was method in the madness!

But yeah... :onmehead:

Not saying there was anything wrong with it, just that it's a classic "Football Manager" moment you wouldn't see in real life.

Breaking News!  Pep Guardiola resigns at Manchester City to take charge at Bala Town.

Huh.. yeah you're right ;)

Woah, what happened there.  It seems the Welsh got so excited about the World Cup they posted 4 times.  Is there any way of deleting them? Otherwise, I'll edit over with January window excitement instead.

Edit, we're down to 2 Wales posts now instead of 4.  There's something fishy here.

Ah, excellent, thank you sir!

Meanwhile, on the domestic front things have been a pretty mixed bag.  August was woeful, but we finished up with an excellent win over Brighton in the EFL Cup:

01.thumb.PNG.d086440aba981b53ad581393f856edcf.PNG

September was brilliant!

02.thumb.PNG.61eae2beab588f69489f1d702a95433b.PNG

October was reasonable.

03.thumb.PNG.60bb24ea3e9dc55e0db8147e1488700f.PNG

But November was just ****ing horrible.

We're halfway through December now, so a further update will come along with January deals!

Finished reading through this today. Just a fantastic read the whole way through. I look forward to seeing what you do moving forward :D

Nice one man, thanks for reading!  Definitely some similarity in concepts, with trying to develop the youth at established clubs!  Moving forward could be pretty soon, December was rough:

05.thumb.PNG.ea5810b446d5409934159f71b679c5f9.PNG

Which means our last 15 matches look like this....

las15.thumb.PNG.956db528a1de59d85dc34d2e187ffb91.PNG

Pretty grim.  I think even if I wanted to stay in Nottingham, the fans and the board might not want me.  For some ungodly reason, form like that means we're in 13th place?! and we could feasibly move up to 11th if we win our next fixture.   Never mind bottom 3, the bottom 10 this season are utterly hopeless. :D

Finally! The January window has arrived which means I have some vain attempt of diving into the window and saving our season.  I've managed to pick up 6 players all told, with only one heading the other way.

IN

Luke Higgins SP14d
(18), born in Leicester - £59k from Notts Co
Leigh Duffy SP14e (18), born in Mansfield - £32k from Mansfield
Shaun Wilkinson SP14f (19), born in Nottingham - £67k from Notts Co
Emmanuel Oduro SP14g (17), born in Mansfield - £22k from Mansfield
Leighton Radford SP14h (17), born in Chesterfield - £83k from Chesterfield
John Matthews SP14i (21), born in Nottingham - £300k from Oldham

Total Spend - £563k

OUT

Liam Cullen - £2.4m to Sparta Prague

Total Income - £2.4m

Not a lot of quality coming in at the moment, but a lot of potential.  The lowest Determination of all players coming in is Leigh Duffy's 15, and all have a resolute, professional or ambitious personality. Here is how our transfer deals this month have affected performance:

What do you mean they've lost 8 out of 10 cats? That's my favourite show!

No Mr da Costa, sir, they've lost 8 out of 10 matches.  This manager, he's utterly hopeless.

This is also excellent news - it doesn't mention in the inbox, which is a bit worrying, but I got this link set up as a 'foreign intake' affiliate as well.  Scandinavia is an FM goldmine, so hopefully we'll get some cracking Swedes through the ranks too.

This season has officially gone AWOL.

wtf.thumb.PNG.a7708e817d5dae420fcc8cb381012540.PNG

For the first half of the season, we could barely get 11 players to turn up for the match.  We've now rounded off an unbeaten February with an absolutely massive victory over Liverpool.  We're now unbeaten in 10 matches, what a turnaround!

March and April were back to our sketchy as _____ best.

facup2.thumb.PNG.4451b12e837de7ec42f0ce0417ed254e.PNG

But the eagle-eyed among you will notice that we're going to Wembley! After beating Liverpool 7-0, we went back to Merseyside in the next round, hoping to avenge a 4-0 drubbing at home against Everton in the league.  Sofiane Nasri scored for Everton to bring the game back to 4-3 in the 86th minute, and we had a man sent off just after the 90 minute mark.  Fortunately our 10 men managed to hang on and we were through to the semi final.  We stormed to a 2-0 lead against Stoke, but by the 68th minute they'd brought it back to 2-2.  An extra time goal from Adam Spooner put us back on track - we'll face the winner of Arsenal vs Manchester City in the final!

May started off promisingly with a 2-1 win over 7th placed West Ham, but defeats against Manchester City and Leicester in our final two games sealed 16th place for us, down 2 spots on last season.

6th minute...  IT'S RUNGKAT FOR ARSENAL!  1-0!

7th minute... KIERAN BRENNAN!
Nottingham have pegged them back immediately!  1-1 here at Wembley!

10th minute... CHRISTIAN PULISIC!  We have an FA Cup classic on our hands, 2-1 to Arsenal!

41st minute... SPOONER LEVELS FOR FOREST!  They're not going down without a fight!

HALF TIME
Jeezo, I need a breather!  It's end to end at Wembley, with us finding ourselves trailing twice before hauling our way back into the game.  We're out for the second half...

52nd minute... IT'S SHANE COOK!  Nottingham Forest take the lead for the first time in this incredible FA Cup Final!

67th minute... OH THAT IS HORRIFIC!  That's an awful challenge, what's the ref going to do?  It is!  He's shown the red card, Arsenal are down to 10 men!

77th minute... SNEKVIIIIIIIK!!!  They don't need the 11th man, Arsenal are back in this! It's 3-3!

FULL TIME
It's still level after 90 minutes, I hadn't made any substitutions so brought on 3 guys in the last 5 minutes.  We're into extra time!

104th minute... RUNGKAT GRABS HIS SECOND!  4-4, with just seconds to play before the break.

Half time in Extra time...  Man alive!  How is this not over yet?!

5 minutes pass...

10 minutes...

15 minutes...

IT'S ALL OVER!  This one will be settled by penalties!  Arsenal took the lead twice in the first 45 minutes, before Forest took the lead twice again in the second half and extra time.  The game has finished 4-4, and we're down to the lottery of spot kicks.

Pulisic... SCORES!  1-0 to Arsenal.
Spooner... IT'S 1-1!
Rungkat... MAKES IT TWO FOR THE GUNNERS!
Brad Whitman SP12b... NO!  Denied by Marcus Vinicius in the Arsenal goal!

Fun fact: Vinicius is the long lost ancestor of Marcus Vinicius, Roman general and consul to 1st Emperor of the Roman Empire Augustus 27BC-14AD.  (Vaguely true story).

It's 2-1 to Arsenal after two kicks each.  Nemdil steps up...  AND MAKES IT THREE!
Abubakar SP12a...  IT'S 3-2!
Smelcerovic... IT'S FOUR FOR ARSENAL!
Kevin Barker steps up, he has to score to keep Forest in it... AND HE DOES!  4-3!

It all comes down to Oddbjorn Snekvik, the supersub who scored Arsenal's 3rd and brought this tie to extra time.  The Norwegian right winger started his career at Rosenborg before a £1.7m move to Arsenal aged 18 has seen him spend the rest of his career in London.

He steps up.

AND HE SCORES.  IT'S ALL OVER!!!  Heartbreak for Nottingham Forest, Glory for Arsenal, WHAT A FINAL!

Anyway... Onwards and upwards eh?  We now have the small matter of the 2030 World Cup in Spain.  The squad has been announced, this is what we look like:

And what better way to kick off than with a match against World Number 1 side Brazil...

Season Review 2029-30!

Well, let's start off with the 2030 World Cup with Wales.  We warmed up for the competition with a 3-1 defeat to France and a narrow 1-0 loss against Mexico.  We went into the Group Stage with passion, enthusiasm, excitement, but unfortunately not goals.  Three 0-0 draws later and we were bottom of our group - amazingly on goal difference.  Every single game in Group G ended as a draw!

wales.thumb.PNG.cc5506d73670344c6a97d18c432d1c6e.PNG

wc.thumb.PNG.d22869a4abb0dafa7f9a741e73361f3b.PNG

wc1.PNG.c3fd4cf127904aa123ccc92df190c2a9.PNG

wc2.PNG.30e95b1a2d7f27b4d20a92123e33efcc.PNG

So we're out of the World Cup this time around, but we're certainly on the up, 3 clean sheets is a good result.  In the European International League, we've just been drawn against Lithuania, Albania and Northern Ireland in Division C Group 2.  I'm confident of going straight back up to Division B!

Back in Nottingham, well we all know how that went.  Declaring my interest in the Waterford job set us off on a horrific run of form.  We picked up towards the end of the season, and went on an incredible run in the FA Cup which culminated in a 5-3 penalty loss to Arsenal after a 4-4 draw.  Manchester United claim the title; Hull, Watford and Wolves are relegated; and we finish up in 16th place.

league.thumb.PNG.59d47875269331b663597c057dfb4a87.PNG

Our finances are still well on the up, and we're up to a balance of £107m.  Still no news on our new stadium though.

Season Preview 2030-31

After last seasons disappointments I was determined to strengthen the squad this summer, but unfortunately there were no players available who were under 21 or local enough.  A few Sheffield and Stoke lads looked great, but they were just outwith our 30 mile limit.  So in a rare move, I haven't signed a single player.  Plenty movement going the other way though, as a few elderly statesmen and useless young 'uns head out the door.

OUT

Jack Greenwood - £35.5k to Forest Green
Messede Bessan - £250k to Racing Club de Lens
Oscar Krusnell - £625k to Getafe
Neil Lamb-Wilson - £375k to Port Vale
Daniel James - £250k to Esbjerg fB
Tom McIntyre - £1.9m to Las Palmas
Regan Cherry SP12f - £300k to Airbus UK

Staff Ins/Outs - none

Anyway, despite a lack of incoming players, the loss of the deadwood means that the younger guys with greater potential will get more game time.  And so far it's paying off!

Mid Season Report

So after a promising August, September was back to usual service.

01.thumb.PNG.881bdb631346bc4f1ec5288ae9629bb7.PNG

October was just as awful.

02.thumb.PNG.45509d37f2e9ea81c1c52b5632d46edc.PNG

November picked up a bit!

03.thumb.PNG.dd50b63eb04a646b1310740bc04b1433.PNG

And December was actually pretty good!

04.thumb.PNG.ab3ef18a85591ddcb6494fd73875eed4.PNG

We were into the January transfer window sitting in 12th place, not bad at all!  Winter though, means it's the start of the Irish season and I had the opportunity to join a fantastic prospect in the Emerald Isle... After the shenanigans of 18 months ago where would I, wouldn't I get the Waterford job, I wasn't leaving anything to chance this time round.

nottm.thumb.PNG.81f1790ee0a6a4c245a869cdba1dfd60.PNG

After almost four years with Nottingham, all I have to show for it is a Championship trophy and an FA Cup runner's up medal.  The scouting restrictions I place on myself were just too laborious in England, and the results weren't there to show for it - last summer's transfer window saw zero players join us.  I've applied for a couple of jobs, so we'll see where this takes me!  I won't be back in England for a few years though :D#foundout #justlikePepatCity

Still though, despite the lack of club management, I'm the manager of Wales and I have this to look forward to!

ecq.PNG.272b8fd5473afabbc653397e47142d11.PNG

A tough group to contend with, but I'm confident of beating Russia to second place.

So, my journey in Nottingham-shire comes to an abrupt end.  For now...
