AHL Games played

Recommended Posts

I just finished the first season and noticed that, strangely enough, not all teams play the same amount of games.

While the league info states that the "Initial Amount of Games" is 68, the majority of the teams in the AHL played 76 games. Only 5 out of 7 teams in the AHL Pacific Division played 68 games (Stockton, San Jose, San Diego, Bakersfield and Ontario).  The remaining 2 teams (San Antonio and Texas) in that division played 76, like the rest of the league.

As of 2015-16 that's how it is IRL

It's explained/shown here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015–16_AHL_season

It's the same thing this year (2016-17), with some divisional realignment and an extra team now also playing 68 games (the five California based teams plus the newly relocated Tucson Roadrunners playing a 68 game season while the rest of the AHL teams play a 76 game season)

Standings/playoffs are determined by winning percentage
