Dynamic qualification

Hi,

Sorry if this was already asked (haven't been able to find it, by looking at forum-search). 

When creating a tournament, I'd like to know if dynamic qualification can be achieved.
Say I have ten teams, and I want them to enter a later stage of the tournament based on either their own reputation or their league's.

So far, I can only manage to create fixed places for teams via nation rules.

Maybe there is another way, perhaps in the advanced editor?

I've done this already, but let's say the league with highest reputation should have 5 spots, and the league with the lowest reputation should have just 1.

So far, what I have accomplished is only 'seeding' the teams after their reputation within their designated spots in the nation rules. So still I cannot exceed the nation rules.

yeah now i understand. i created something similar last year. If you need to have different number of teams (from some nation)  every year, you need to add hidden stagesso you can sort teams. Explain your system -how many countries/competitions gives teams for your competition

I dont have it-deleted everything from FM16 but its not problem.  My competition is club continental comp with 12 teams from 6 ex-yugoslav coutries (balcan league). 

First i added teams to "qualified teams" section:

-best teams from division - nation1, seeding 0 (set top division - not nation here)

-best teams from division - nation2, seeding 0

-best teams from division - nation3, seeding 0

-best teams from division - nation4, seeding 0

-best teams from division - nation5, seeding 0

-best teams from division - nation6, seeding 0

-best teams from division - nation1, seeding 1

-best teams from division - nation2, seeding 1

-best teams from division - nation3, seeding 1

-best teams from division - nation4, seeding 1

-best teams from division - nation5, seeding 1

-best teams from division - nation6, seeding 1

-best teams from division - nation1, seeding 2

-best teams from division - nation2, seeding 2

-best teams from division - nation3, seeding 2

-best teams from division - nation4, seeding 2

-best teams from division - nation5, seeding 2

-best teams from division - nation6, seeding 2

 

Stage settings:

 

Stage 0:   

League stage with 6 teams

number of rounds 0

Top team are champions - untick

create fixtures - untick

Yes, it is because the game use coefficients to change league reputations.. and not only in europe. Use FMRTE (the free version is enough), search for any african nation you want (or asian or oceanian..) between those involved in the continental club cups, double click on it, look at the entry "eurocoefficients" and you may have a surprise

uff.. I have problems with the FMRTE for fm17, due to .net framwork. I made a screenshot from fm15, an old save.. however I think the coefficient points are rounded, if I remember well in a past edition I could see until the third decimal number. The Champions League of the various continents give the points togheter with the other main competitions: AFC Cup in Asia, Confederation Cup in Africa, Europa League in Europe

What excactly do you mean here? Do you mean you select for example, best club in any division in fx Serbia? Just the "not nation here" confuses me.

"best teams from division" - max number of teams =1 , serbian superleague , seeding 0 

and so on... i used 6 nations for my competition so i used top divisions from that 6 nations

- best teams from division - belgian top division, max 1 team, seeding 0 game will pick 1st team in this league

- best teams from division - english top division, max 1 team, seeding 0 game will pick 1st team in this league

- best teams from division - croatian top division, max 1 team, seeding 0 game will pick 1st team in this league

- best teams from division - turkish top division, max 1 team, seeding 0 game will pick 1st team in this league

- best teams from division - italian top division, max 1 team, seeding 0 game will pick 1st team in this league

 

- best teams from division - serbian top division, max 1 team, seeding 1 game will pick 2nd team in this league

- best teams from division - belgian top division, max 1 team, seeding 1 and so on...

- best teams from division - english top division, max 1 team, seeding 1

- best teams from division - croatian top division, max 1 team, seeding 1

- best teams from division - turkish top division, max 1 team, seeding 1

- best teams from division - italian top division, max 1 team, seeding 1

and so on....

 

hope you understand now. after that you set what teams you want in each hidden stage with seeding option

I totally get this. But for example. Let say you want two teams from the Belgian league but only one from the Serbian (because the Belgian league is better), what if the Serbian league someday become better than the Belgian one and as such is entitled to two teams instead of one. Will the editor know this??

thats why you set multiple hidden stages. 

first hidden stage will use only teams with seeding 0 (champions)

second hidden stage will use only teams with seeding 1 (runner-up)

third hidden stage will use only teams with seeding 2 (3rd team)

in every stage you sort teams by division reputation.

in stage 0 you qualify all 6 teams to stage 3 (your real stage)

in stage 1 you qualify 4 teams to stage 3 (your real stage)

in stage 2 you qualify 2 teams to stage 3 (your real stage)

if you set like this you will get:

nation 1    -   3 teams

nation 2    -   3 teams

nation 3    -   2 teams

nation 4    -   2 teams

nation 5    -   1 team

nation 6    -   1 team

 

next year some different nations can have more teams - it depends on league reputation -you set this in hidden stages to sort teams and qualify them to stage 3

Is it possible you can help me. I have followed your instructions in every detail - yet my tournament still doesn't work.

Basically I have a tournament like yours - six nations, just in Scandinavia. I am using the defunct 'Royal League' tournament.

In theory, based on the reputation, it should look like this:

Sweden: 3 teams
Norway: 3 teams
Denmark: 2 teams
Iceland: 2 teams
Finland: 1 team
Faroe Islands: 1 team

In total_ 12 teams, excactly like in your Balkan League.

But when the tournament is generated it will put 4 Danish teams, 2 Faroese, 2 Finnish and so on... not the right amount at all.

Could you have a look at my file, and tell me where I'm off, according to your instructions?

i will take a look-maybe i forgot something in my explanation

On competition section you set "maximum number of qualified teams" = 12. Thats why your stage 2 never starts and teams are not qualified to main stage. Dont add options to your file if youre not sure what you can cause.

I forgot to add "reverse the order of teams in this list" to teams section.

just hide again stages 0-2 when you see everything in game

I'm very interesting in this topic. I'm trying to make a friendly cup in pre-season that involve famous team and my Editor-made team. In this case, my team will be involved in this cup every season but the other one will be random (I mean dynamic qualification). Therefore, there may be differences in the qualifications rules? If yes, can you explain it? thanks

What is your question here? "famous team" is not some valid information

Hello!

So, I followed your example and managed after some tweaks to create a Dynamic Copa Libertadores. But, while the tournament "works" something else stopped working. The league reputation has now become static. It doesnt matter for how long I simulate, they stay the same so its always the same distribution of teams that enter anyway.


Do you know any possible cause for this so I could correct it?

This worked on FM2016 - also problem with league reputation isnt here for first time so i guess its related to something else. I think there is some thread about this somewhere here-think its related to new added leagues but im not sure

Ok, ill try to sort this out because the tournament in itself is working perfectly, but its of no use when the leagues reputation doesnt move xD.

I fixed it ;)

But if I make to many changes to the original tournaments it brakes down, everything has to be done perfectly hehehehe.  (Im on FM 15 btw)

When I play a normal save i.e. not using the editor to incorporate your changes I get a message like this (Pardon me for using a photo from google.) after some seasons that the nation I am in has improved ranking and hence we get more continental places.

If I incorporate your changes using the editor, do I get the same screen after a few seasons ? I use FM 17
