Just started playing, liking the new UI a lot.

Unfortunately, when I fired up FMM 2017 on my iPhone 6, I still have the same UI as 2016. For the "smaller" phones I guess we don't get the same UI that is shown in all of the promo shots. It was kind of disappointing, especially since many games I play have small buttons since they have one layout for mobiles.

We're thinking about trying the other UI on the normal-sized iPhones but have to assess the usability more first.

My first impression is that this is a good game. Several small improvements from the '16 edition, all contributing to a better experience overall. My observations:

+ EME plays better on my phone (Huawei P9) than last year's edition (or at least I feel it is smoother, might be placebo..)

+ extended player interaction is great

+ no more BWM's and BBM's at weird positions (AMC, DMC)

- most goals seem to be long shots. Players should be more patient and not fire from outside the box all the time

- I really wish for a filter on the scout results page. 10 pages of players, I'm not interested in e.g. neither the GK's nor the 30+ guys

- no new roles. :/

All in all, well done SI.

Thanks for the feedback, Footix. :)

With regards to the highlighted point - this is a probably a feature request but it has been raised before. Can't guarantee any timeframe, but I agree it would be a nice addition. It's been made partly easier by the ability to sort it by the various scouts at least. Now that the base of that is in, we can look to improve scouting further.

Tip: As a side note for the over 30s issue - a scout with a 'Youth' specialisation will not return players who they don't feel have the potential to improve any further regardless of the assignment type they're on. You may miss out on those players in their peak years with that, but handy if you're looking for those with high potential or resale value. ;)

What are the differences between the the 16 and this version? Because I'm considering buying it for when I'm out and about.

There's a set of linked posts just above this stickied thread in the FMM General Discussion forum which show off all the new features with screenshots. :)

The overall game has been great for me, but the whole interface of FMM 17 feels a lot like FMM 16. Is there anyway there could be a revamped interface similar to how it looks in FM 17 for FMM 17 in the future?

Hi

I bought FM Mobile 2017 and also i have bought FM Mobile 2015-2015 and FM 2012-2016.

There is no Attribute Analysis in FM Mobile 2017. I want to add this feature in player comparison or in player features.

We certainly know that which player is better than others with Attribute Analysis.

This is no too much hard to add in FM Mobile 2017, can you add in next update of FM Mobile 2017.

That would be great @nefendim. I even believe it could be there instead of compare attributes which is pointless against the detailed view.

Personally I would place it next to the player face and move the face slightly to the left with the nationality flag being moved down/removed.

Had a play around with this with the Van Persie attributes shown. I simplified it so it is more relevant to the FMM attributes and easily viewable on small screens. This weights different attributes on the section.

Hey Dec - is that radar function built-in with Excel or did you use something else?  Last time I tried using it in excel, it didn't come out nearly as neat as your picture.

It is a graph but you have to do a few edits such as removing labels

Love how the game is running with tweaked AI and new stadium and fields in wet or dry conditions.

Although having some roles taken away,  I hope you guys fill the void with some new roles soon. I also hope to see an update to the age old training page while you're at it, as we could really use more than just the general categories to train our players. Whether it be individual training,  role trait training, set piece/penalty/corner training, just any update would be great to make more effective training tailored to our youth players!

Does everybody else seem to have an inordinate amount of sackings / managerial changes?

Obviously the average 'lifespan' of a manager is very short these days (approx 1 year now according to the latest studies) but in the very first season of my game it seems the vast majority of teams have changed their manager, some twice in the first season!

In the Premier League alone; Mourinho, Klopp, Wenger, Howe, Pulis, Bilic, Hughes, Phelan, Pardew & Bradley have all left their jobs before the end of the season & I'm certain Moyes will join them in the coming days.

Only Howe & Wenger left of their own accord. Howe taking the reigns at Stoke after Hughes's dismissal & in a majorly bizarre move Wenger quit days before Arsenal were crowned champions to take over at struggling Atletico... :idiot:

This strikes me as a touch excessive.

Yep I have had the same problem and was actually going to start a thread about it today.  I did comment about this in the 2016 version as there is a very high turnover of managers and I hoped it would not be the same in the 2017 version but I have had Wenger and Guardiola quit within 2 months of the start of the season plus Koeman just left and there have been 1 or 2 others as well in the Premier Division. I could understand 1 or 2 in January maybe but certainly not from the very top teams.

So I decided to buy FMM 2017. Curiosity got the better of me and despite my love for FMT 2017, I wanted a truly mobile FM experience for on the go.

My first impressions are positive. I'm still getting used to it but its clear this has become a really decent mobile experience. I haven't played since 2015 but it does seem to have some enhancements that help to give it an extra layer of depth. I do however have some twinges of disappointment.

My initial thoughts are:

Pros.

  • The layout on my Samsung S7 Edge is very good. The homepage is presented very clearly. A lot of small details are included in the way information is presented on screen i.e. the scout report will include the oppositions league position as well as recent form and predicted line up. The range of information you can bring up on one player is also very good.
  • I am intrigued with earning my bronze coaching badge. I was asked if I wanted to be a part of the coaching set-up and so I set myself up as a motivational coach. I don't know how much of an impact this has on the game. I don't know what would have happened either had I said No but I like this added feature.
  • Having the option to select up to four leagues is great. Having that extra league will hopefully give my careers some longevity. I'm not sure if I will ever play the Welsh league (I did once) but the inclusion of the Turkish league is inspired.
  • Being able to employ staff, and based on their badge level and speciality, is also a great touch.
  • I love the new player interaction. Being now able to praise players adds an extra dimension to managing players. Well done SI.

Cons

  • Disappointed with the lack of evolution from the tactic side of things. I honestly feel that the instructions page should give more options. Team mentality should be expanded to include mentalities of Contain (or option more defensive than 'Defensive') and an option of All Out Attack.
  • I also think that we could do with the inclusion of addition Player Roles. When I set-up my 4-2-3-1, I was looking to make my central attacking midfielder as a Shadow Striker, yet the only options were CM, AP and IF. I think giving us these extra player roles would really enhance the tactical side of things. Although some may say this keeps things simple, I just think it keeps things limited.
  • What happened to the marking options in tactics? Couldn't you select between man-marking and zonal?
  • In a number of matches played so far, the AI has opted to switch their tactics to a defensive 4-4-2 on the 75th minute. On those occasions, the AI has been the better side and ought to be changing the tactics to something more offensive. In one situation, I was away to Cardiff (playing as QPR) and was reduced to 10 men. Cardiff were absolutely dominating me but on the 75th minute, they switched to a defensive 4-4-2. I was let off the hook.
  • I think the contract negotiations are a unrealistic. I signed three players on a free transfer. One of those players was former Germany international Kevin Kuranyi. He wanted to sign for on wages of £19K per week. I offered £12K and he accepted without hesitation or further negotiation. Another player signed was a Spanish player called Alex Menendez. He wanted £18K per week and I offered £11K. Again he accepted without wanting to negotiate further. Menendez is worth £4M.

If I have any other comments, I will be sure to post them here.

I have to say that I am really enjoying this game. My career on FMT2017 has been completely neglected! This is definitely the best edition of FM Mobile.

As I’ve just completed my first season, I thought I’d share some more feedback. There are some points that I feel need to be made and there are some questions that I wanted to ask.

Player ratings
I find the player rating system to be a little dubious. I seem to recall from FMM 2015 that the player ratings were far more fluent in how the game judged a players performance. In the 2017 version, the lowest rating for players seems to be a 6. I very rarely see a player receive anything lower than this. I have lost badly in games yet most of my players have received ratings of six with a few on 7s. This includes players who have been sent off (I don’t understand how a defender who was sent off on 23rd minute can receive a 6/10). Because of this, I find it hard to judge how well a player is actually performing. If I lose 3-0, I would expect to see some ratings of 5 and less. I get that a 6 isn't great but it just feels like a default score for any player not performing at their best.

Difficulty level
One of the things I have found to be frustrating with the FMM series is the overall difficulty level as I have always found the game to be easy. This was a concern before purchasing FMM 2017 and having just completed my first season, I feel unsure whether this has improved or not. I took over at QPR and the Board set my seasons aims at securing mid-table safety. I don't know from a comparison point of view how good the squad at QPR is against all the other squads in the Championship, but the QPR squad is in relatively good shape. Having acquired a few additional players to boost my attacking options, I eventually finished the season winning the Championship playoff final against Newcastle Utd. You could argue that with a decent squad and the right tactics, this outcome for QPR is entirely possible. But I did feel a twinge of disappointment in accomplishing promotion within my first season. I was expecting things to be a bit more challenging. Hopefully my first season in the Premier League will give me a more difficult challenge.

Lack of fanfare
What’s happened to all the congratulatory emails and messages? I've just won the Championship Playoff Final and there is no fanfare whatsoever! No newspaper headline. No email to say fans were dancing in the streets and singing my name long into the night. No email from the Board to say how delighted they were with this achievement. Please, please can we have this euphoric, celebratory feedback back. There is a sense of role-play within Football Manager. One of the fun aspects of being a "FM Manager" is the sense of achievement of being a footballing tactical genius. I just masterminded a tactical battle with Raffa Benitez. I've just guided my team to the Premier League. I want my Board to be grateful and I want the fans to be celebrating my name!

Email updates
The following season progress/update emails seem to be missing from the 2017 version:
-    No announcement on who has won the league - either at the point when it becomes mathematically impossible for other teams to win or at the point of the final game of the season being played (this is across all leagues).
-    No announcement to confirm who my playoff opponent will be.
-    No score announcements from the other 1st and 2nd leg playoff match (I would like to know how the other teams are getting on).
-    No announcement on teams being relegated (this is across all leagues).
-    No announcement on the results of playoff matches being played across all leagues.

Strangely, I kept receiving an email to confirm that I had secured a playoff place. I received this email several times.

There is of course plenty to like about this game. Having been used to playing the Touch version of FM for the last couple of years, I nearly convinced myself that getting back into playing FMM would be difficult. Yet I found the game to have an exceptional level of detail and depth that didn't compromise the game’s mantra of “FM on the go”. The interface and the menus are brilliant presented and laid out. The match day experience and enhanced game engine is really very good. I found some of the matched played out to be gripping. And despite my misgivings over achieving promotion in my first season, I found the playoff final to be utterly absorbing! (The game could have gone either way and it was thanks to a Cheick Tiote red card that I was able to use my numerical advantage to win in ET).

Unfortunately a few issues have cropped up in my current game, which is a shame because it has been really enjoyable so far.

Transfers
I think there’s quite a few bugs with the overall transfer system. I plan to write a post about this in the bugs section but it will mainly cover how the AI makes unusually low bids for players which are often accepted. It will also include how players subjected to a transfer bid by me reject a contract offer before 1) the club has accepted my bid, and 2) before I’ve had the chance to offer a contract.

Transfer Budget
I have posted a query about this in the bugs forum. Two seasons in a row, I have been offered a transfer budget of £3.5M. This seems unusually low for a Premier League club and it really restricts what you can do in terms of bringing in new talent to compete with the biggest and the best.

Manager Profile
At the start of my career, my profile was set at ‘Local’. After winning promotion to the Premier League and then securing Premier League football by finishing 12th in the league, I would have thought this reputation would be upgraded. If I were to lose my job (or resign due to a lack of transfer funds!), I expect the only clubs interested in securing my services would be around League 1 or League 2. I think that a manager who has achieved promotion to the Premier League and then survival should be awarded a higher rating (think Chris Hughton). In such an event, I would think my achievements so far would see me land another Championship job.

Unsettled Youth Players
I offered contracts to a number of 17 and 18 y/o from my reserves because I wanted to see if I could develop players within the club. One youngster was sent out on loan within his first season of being offered a contract. Whilst out on loan, I received an email to say he was unhappy at QPR and wanted to be transfer listed. There was no reason to explain his unhappiness. He is 17 and has just been offered a youth contract. I’m guessing this should be posted as a bug?

I was initially wary of the Brexit scenarios but I have to admit they completely change the mobile game if you play with an English side. Whereas in previous versions your careers would roughly follow the same upwardly mobile path, as you replaced your team of British journeymen with team of all conquering international superstars, now getting lumbered with a hard Brexit really stops you in your tracks. No more easy signings of foreign wonder kids and quality young 20 somethings. I've found myself having to scrabble about looking for decent British players and facing really tough competition to sign them. Attracting quality foreign international players is even harder because even if they assured of getting a work permit, rival English teams, never mind foreign ones, battle hard for them. My inevitable march to success doesn't look so inevitable now!

I guess that a soft Brexit or a hard Brexit with UK break up will offer even more varied careers.

Please please please please @Marc Vaughan make this game more challenging.

I have taken over a team that were promoted to the Vanarama South League and have got them promoted to League 2 in back-to-back seasons and I'm course for promotion to League 1, beating League 1 and Championship teams in cup competitions along the way.

It offers zero incentive to keep on playing when I continually romp home to 4-0 victories.

I don't play fancy tactics; 4-2-4, Defensive, Direct, Mixed Passing, Committed Tackling.

It shouldn't be this easy. I've actually got to the point where I'm celebrating losing games.

This game would be PERFECTION if it offered a realistic challenge. Getting a team promoted from the Vanarama South to League 2 football should be one of the most difficult things to achieve.

I have a transfer budget over £1M which I refuse to touch because it would get even easier (I do find it odd that a promoted team to League 2 would have such a rich transfer budget).

Fans SHOULD be afraid to show their disappointment!

A league 2 team reaches the 4th round of the league cup only to lose to Man City at the Etihad Stadium 4-0.

Fans should be beside themselves with joy with an away trip to a Premier League side. My board should be shaking me by the hand for reaching so far in a tournament that we had little hope to win.

This is very harsh 🤔

One thing I've seen in several versions, is that mid game a player might be getting say a 5 rating. So you sub him and off he goes but his final rating shows as 7 for example. Was he playing at a 5 level just at that moment but overall he was actually at 7? I might not have subbed him if I'd known that.

Yep, that has been an ongoing issue which has never been fixed. Frustrating.

A couple of points that I've probably made before.

No surprise that manager AI generally deteriorates as the years progress but it's inconsistent. Some teams from outside your chosen playable leagues might have very well stacked squads whereas top teams in your playable leagues might have run their squads down so much they need greys to fill in.

I've seen a club (with a thin squad) let 6 pros go at the end of a season and replace them with two pricey signings for positions where they already look ok. Thinking about it that's probably realistic!! :D

International management. I think you've already said you're looking at international scouts. I'd also like an automatic pool pick option, where your assistant gives you the 40 best available players to choose your squad from. I'd also like an automatic squad pick option by your assistant. Would be very useful when you're managing unfamiliar national teams especially later in the game when they all are. It also allows you to avoid forgetting to bring back key players from long term injury. Happens a lot when I'm in a rush or tired.

I'm also sure that players in non playable leagues are sneaking in phantom matches just before internationals. I sometimes notice a new match rating for them has appeared in their ratings history. I regularly find my international squad has several injured or unfit players when in some cases I don't think they should have played any games before the international. May be something to check out.

Finally for now there's that issue where some players don't decline enough when they hit their mid 30s. It's possible for a lesser side to pick up a former world class player, who's been let go by his previous club. But he plays as if he's still near his peak and is devastating. It's great fun if you're not managing a top team but it's not really realistic. You end up not playing your up and coming players enough  then they get annoyed and want to leave then your superstar retires and you're left with problems!

Edit: Oh yeah meant to say that when squad numbers get run down over the years, AI teams are forced to pick unfit players in their first 11. I also think some AI managers continually pick their sometimes very unfit top players instead of fit average players. It means the human manager’s team can normally beat those tired teams through fitness alone.

I currently have FMM 2016 and have been skeptical to get the 2017 one since when it was newly realesed due to some people complaining about some stuff. So should i get the 2017 now or wait for and hope the 2018 one is better?

There were a lot of additions in FMM 2017 but with 2018 two months away, I'd wait, especially as you'll get all the current squads.
