As a fellow romanian i love this ideea mate :) . Will be interesting to see how you can keep and make the Romanian league coeficients better and what money will you get out of TV sponsorships :)

cheers mate :)  (la moment nu cred că avem vreo contribuție la coeficientul național dar sper că în vreo 5-6 ani, și cu ceva noroc ajungem și acolo ;)

Season 18-19

spartalogo222.jpg.1dca989c5f52631dfb54898c06ff36c3.jpg

Que sera sera....

9834d94c09e27a888b8309f0fde6acaf.png

very, very painful season... we only managed a few wins along the way, and our squad morale has been in constant mess as nearly every other player has been asking to leave the club...

an encouraging performance in the Romanian League cup, which saw us reach the semi-final only to be beaten by rivals Dinamo is the highlight of the season in terms of performances

Key Players:

Bogdan Chipirliu                                                                                              Liviu Ciocănaru

b73a2900189fe7183570cdbfa65843e7.png  6dc6837755690a23e79597c3df0fb8e3.png

Tudor Băluță                                                                                                             Alexandru Nica

ef348b7cc3ba0ccc0059ef32e45b0889.png  d5b32f58392a285c96545b1a45c53880.png

Ciocănaru and Chipirliu have both asked to leave, while Băluță has already agreed a transfer to Tîrgu Mureș at the end of the season... These three players are at least two heads above anyone else in the team with Nica following them in a close 4th in terms of quality. This means we're truly back to were we started from, only with worse players than we had initially and with better facilities, reputation and finances.

Thoughts or excuses?... huh :)

well, what can be said? our tremendous lack of quality has shown and if I have to take the blame for anything it would probably be the failure to keep the squad happy and focused throughout the season. Very challenging situation with key player, Chipirliu, our star left-back, Ciocănaru, and a few others constantly asking for a move away and disrupting team morale. The tactics have stayed pretty much the same as last year, with minor adjustments to help us be more efficient in defense. That didn't seem to account to much, either. Injuries have played a massive part in our downfall as well, as we constantly missed one or two players in matches we could have got a point in. That being said and as disappointing as relegation is, here are the positives that I can take from this:

Club developments

our lack of transfers and incredibly low wages meant the club has been increasingly improving its financial position over the last two years

Financial review of 18/19 season

d97a3452991232a3675d91977d036466.png

this meant the club has had the resources to invest in some key aspects of the club:

7caeea56ca8ca6ab01379af501870089.png

be52cb7822a4326a3c12ba3ffbdf7d7f.png

with youth facilities and recruitment having gone one level up already this season, we're looking really good on the facilities front :)

Youth Intake

b63884fb85c04e642e11e6817302d42b.png

great intake by our new, spanish HOYD as we get a bunch of great(?) prospects in a number of positions. Some decent personalities there, too. This could be crucial for the club development in the next year or two, as with half of the first team looking to leave the club, these guys look set to get some important game time in the second division next season. Ivan will take over from Băluță at the DM spot straight away, as the latter decided to leave on a free at the end of the season.

Alexandru Ivan                                                                                                           Sorin Ștefan

9ece22c1e7aef9e66f18ac47fa53c5a1.png1fe2c1e41891ea9ea519dcd0ca1e0df5.png

Overall, relegation is always a disappointment. But I'm hopeful the new generation as well as the improved infrastructure of the club can help us move forward from here and keep us growing. One can say I'm being overly optimistic, but that seems to be the medicine required to get you through times like these, so bring it on, Liga II :)

Great intake, hopefully the develop well.

fingers crossed, we have some decent youth facilities as well now, so that should help a bit

Unfortunate to see :(. Went through the same pattern on my Avenir Beggen youth-only save. The increases in facilities should give you sustainable depth going forward though!

yep, that's the only encouraging part of this season, along with the good intake. To be fair, though, this only shows how big of an over-achievement promotion was two years ago. We're tipped to be relegated even from the second division by the bookies, so we're definitely lacking competitive quality in our ranks. Let's hope the new generation has what it takes, as I expect a tough couple of years in the second division before we can move back up again

just had a proper laugh at this one... remember last couple of years' star player Ciobanu? He decided to leave us on a free last summer and no one signed him in the meantime so he retired as a player at 23

p.s. not sure if this is a bug or just karma playing its best tricks)

Hilarious! That's probably a bug though, you should report it, no player would drop everything just because he's gone a month without work.

Bummer about the relegation though, looks like it's going be a pretty difficult challenge for you. Keep it up and you'll get where you need to be.

it's been a year since he left the club, so technically it's kind of possible. the evil side of me definitely enjoyed this)

"Later losers, I'm too good for you!"
[15 month pass]
"Okay, no one wants me! Time to retire, I guess."

It's actually somewhat common in lower reputation leagues, at least in earlier FMs. Always bizarre to see happen though. Enough to make you grit your teeth if you're doing a youth only challenge.

Personally, I like to follow the squad development and tactical evolution.

Oh... And obviously the off update on results and league tables too! :D

And... That does look like a great intake. Hopefully some long term building blocks for you there mate, as you work your way back to the big time. ;)

yep, I actually noticed he was still free 3 months after he left us and tried offering him a contract and he still wasn't interested) luckily, the amusement was greater than the frustration on this one

Ouch, relegation must be hard to take. Is your job at risk, or are the board sticking with you?

they seem to be surprisingly supportive. I still think we're overachieving even though we're playing in the second division now, so that might be one of the reasons they''re still happy with me)

Season 19-20

Bungee jumping

9d64c544306259886fff6adf6617abfd.png

a fantastic season in the Liga II means we defy all the odds yet again to win back promotion to the Liga I. The first placed finish also ensures the club collects its first winners' medals in their 4 year history. Coupled with a great run in the Romanian Cup and some fantastic performances from players that came through the youth ranks last year, this is a very encouraging bounce-back scenario from the bitterness of last season.

1012d9a465c2cdaeb53ee60eec9dd573.png

we started the season quite badly and had a few runs of bad form that made me seriously question our chances of even staying up in the Liga II. The boys have completely turned things around in the second half of the season and we pulled of an extraordinary achievement in winning the league.

End of season table                                                                 Start of season media prediction

Key players

Alexandru Roșca                                                                                                       Alexandru Nica

2592c4a30f1d96c992095c5f7ca21e8c.png  8b7308b3e222e86f4e4bdbc342477a9e.png

Bogdan Chipirliu                                                                                                         Liviu Ciocănaru

ca5fc9f6e91988e49ca54655b30fc8f3.png  80fb40ce5f2636d3d4ddca0e71189cbc.png

These four players were the undoubted foundation we relied on to bring quality to our performances. Chipirliu made a surprising decision to stay and renew his contract and even though his season was disrupted by injuries on numerous occasions, he still popped up to give us a point or three in decisive situations. Roșca is the creative force of the team as he is our best passer by miles and his presence in midfield has been crucial to our ability to create chances. Nica is cementing his status as a club icon by this point. With 16 goals to his name this season he has been our main force in attack as well as Sparta's record appearance holder, and his development in training is encouraging to say the least. Ciocănaru is making his inevitable departure even harder to take as he had a wonder season as our left wing back: 3 goals and 8 assists is no small feat for a player that hasn't reached his twenties yet. He'll be terribly missed...

Exciting youth prospects

Sorin Ștefan                                                                                                       Alexandru Ivan

e3010a51e37bb3dd207d4cd4b72cf9e3.pngb0da54fb943175bde60953b56b603258.png

Daniel Ureche

0902a54bd8ba2cfa05d5ff0411933476.png

The first two were given starting spots in our first 11 as we were weakened by departures and lack of depth at the start of the season. The two have made a total of 62 appearances between them in their first year as senior squad members and the performances they've put in have been encouraging to say the least. Ureche has been used more as a rotation option for the Chipirliu-Nica partnership and he chipped in with a few vital goals for us in some crucial moments. 8 goas in 18 appearances is not so bad for a 17 year old so we'll see where his development takes him

Youth Intake

cda3f6230f350261edab6e8e3f443201.png

Another great intake by our Spanish HOYD, who interestingly, has a preference to sign local players in his attribute list. Good depth all-round in this year's intake and we get some much needed prospects in defense and midfield. Pavel is the main reason to get excited about this intake as he already has the ability to be a rotation option for us at right wing-back and some game time should see him improve faster as well.

Răzvan Pavel                                                                                                        Marian Solomon

Club development issues

The good form we've had this season is rewarded by a new sponsorship deal as well as increased performances in our overall commercial activity

d5992bc0f679e838427baf057ef7069c.png

Despite featuring in the Liga II, we start the new season with a very healthy financial balance and this should be further increased by the TV money we'll get for this season and 'hopefully' some improved attendance figures

910e13c8843ed126e1604e545615954e.png

I made use of this to immediately ask for club improvements at the end of the season and this is a very good way to start :)

July 2020 - European Championship

Image result for romania

while we're getting our team ready for the new season, Romania has a dream run in the Euros, beating the likes of Turkey, England and Italy to reach the semi-final of the competition. Croatia wasn't the toughest opponent to have and that loss will sting for sure, but still a fantastic performance overall

and off he goes.... the best player produced by the club to this date refuses to extend his contract and joins the Ukrainians at Stal' Kamianskie on a free transfer. With 102 league appearances to his name and yet to reach his 20's Liviu has been a key player for us since the day he was recruited and he will be greatly missed...

Season 20/21

Last day drama deja-vu

7ef7d478e92824528c757f21c74f2054.png

this final push from the boys made us finish 5th in the relegation group, thus avoiding relegation with a last gasp effort yet again... phew...

Overall season performance

apart from the delightful fight against relegation we've put a fantastic performance in the Romanian League Cup as well this year. We reached the final of the competition only to be knocked out by Universitatea Craiova... it will hurt, of course, as we were leading 1-0 for the first 60 minutes only to let it go stupidly in extra time.... still, a great run and that should help our reputation domestically

End of season league table

Viitorul do it again huh :)

Rivalry status

this year saw us put in some great performances against our two fierce rivals, particularly Dinamo, against which we haven't lost once in 5 matches. Steaua is still the one to beat as they are a much stronger team overall, but as the years roll by we increasingly start looking less like outsiders and more serious opponents in the Derbies of Bucharest

Key players

Bogdan Chipirliu                                                                                                         Alexandru Nica

Alexandru Ivan                                                                                                              Sorin Ștefan

3ba8aa882de0a48da7285a147340d8fa.png  aa61546dcda7bdcb9cf230950ada02cc.png

Some great performances by these four over the last year. Chipirliu and Nica formed our main striking partnership for most of the season and have bailed us out on numerous occasions with some wonder-strikes that left my jaw on the floor. Really a shame that Chipirliu seems to be very injury prone as he only played 20 matches this season. Ivan and Ștefan are part of the new generation that is slowly pushing the club onto the next level. Some great performances from these two, especially from Ivan, who was helped a lot in his outings by his great physique for his age. Really hope he can improve his technical side of the game so that he can be our main creative outlet from the back.

Youth prospects

Daniel Ureche                                                                                                                  Răzvan Pavel

2e27c8abb2df7fb33f5eda7372c3efef.png  bf50f29a24220db9b05155c9eeb2302f.png

Toader Vlad                                                                                                                 Alecsandru Buștei

9293a09e7ad17d75f6e8b0246ffb55ff.png  9759aad3a8e6356410d10c755bafb3ec.png

Ureche and Pavel have been important rotation players for the striker and right wing back spots and both put in some decent outings for their ability. Vlad was our main CM(A) this season and averaged an impressive 6.89 in the 29 appearances he made this year. Buștei mainly played for the U19s, however he progresses so fast that he might push our main GK, Relu Stoian out of his starting role soon if he keeps going like that.

Youth Intake

732980cf94c9057ca50cc40f796274e9.png

probably the best intake we've had so far, in terms of both, depth and quality. Our spanish HOYD is working wonders so far, as his unearthing of Bogdan Andone has left me speechless....Additionally, Tiberiu Vlădilă looks quality and Ivan and Abăluță aren't too bad either.

Bogdan Andone                                                                                          Tiberiu Vlădilă

48bd915beb3b6c7547628f1c87a277dd.pngc07d725cec6e9ddaa1839f78be54e267.png

Andone was so good that he was instantly our best defender at the club. Promoted to the first team immediately, he managed to put in 16 appearances of decent quality from March to the end of the season.

Sparta Bucuresti, also known as Yo-Yo Bucuresti.

I'd have zero motivation after all those crashes, already find it a pain if I have to replay a match or two... Must be extraordinarly annoying.

it was indeed a killer of momentum and motivation... seems the last attempt paid off though :) probably our best season to date

Former player watch

Carlo Casap - Sparta's best ever player has developed into a great midfielder since he joined Benfica for free in 2018. After a few seasons on loan he has grown to be a key player of the national set-up, with 23 caps and 2 goals under his belt already

Andone was some pick by your HOYD!

yep, he seems amazing, tied him down to a pro deal immediately

btw, our start of season odds seem to keep going lower and lower every season :) apart from the fact that this shows how little we're improving ability-wise, this also means the overall quality of the league is constantly improving and that's good news

absolutely loving the new feature allowing you to protest a transfer accepted by the board because 'the offer was too good to turn down'. Just avoided losing one of our best players thanks to that

Andone looks like a beast for the Romanian League hopefully you did not forget to tie him down to that extension by the club or you gonna loose him at 19 again.

haha, I've learned the trick now, so I'm definitely not forgetting. The tricky part will be getting the board not to accept transfer offers regardless of my decisions

Season 21/22

spartalogo222.jpg.1dca989c5f52631dfb54898c06ff36c3.jpg

slowly climbing the success ladder

after six years of fighting for either survival or promotion and always in the grey zone of the underdog we finally make a step up this season to finish mid-table. An 8th placed finish in the final league table is a reason to be proud and optimistic for the next years

End of season league table

33555b5f84ac9d47952f221f319c57bd.png

we were really close to making the Championship Playoffs for the first time in the club's history (which is achieved by finishing 6th or above in the table before playoffs begin) however a few unlucky results have stolen away that privilege right at the death of standard league fixtures. We entered the relegation group placed first and disappointingly slipped to 5th after a really disappointing run, however we still managed to finish 8th overall and having had the worst survival odds in the league at the start of the season, that is a massive achievement for the club. Our cup performance has been disappointing as we were knocked out by a second league team in the RC, and that counts as the only downside of an otherwise great season.

Alexandru Roșca                                                                                                   Alexandru Nica

The stats say it all... One of the few occasions our Nica-Chipirliu striking partnership managed to stay fit for the majority of the duration of the season and they showed just why they've got that place in the 'club legends' section cemented in gold. With 40 goals and 20 assists between them, there's no doubt the club would be much worse without them two. The biggest surprise of the season was Penescu, who put in some pretty amazing outings at right wing-back, as his great physique overshadowed the lack of technical ability and propelled him into our top four of the season. Roșca completes the podium as the clubs best midfielder of the season, and even though it doesn't look like he'll get much better from now on, he's a key player for this team and will probably confirm this status over the next few years as well.

Youth Prospects (u18)

Bogdan Andone                                                                                                          Tiberiu Vlădilă

Alecsandru Buștei

67cff5de230205c2f529f3cfc27687dd.png

Andone and Vlădilă are the two stars of last years' intake and they're already impressing in the first team, despite their tender age. Andone is undoubtedly 'the man', however the other two are also really exciting players for a squad of our level. It's going to be a bit of a headache trying to get the best out of Vlădilă, as he doesn't fit into our current system, so he'll probably be re-trained as a MC, as skeptical as I am about that making the best use of his abilities. Our system is working really well at the moment so there's no point changing it all for the sake of one player so I suppose he'll have to adapt for the time being. Buștei will probably be our starting GK for next season, although I really hate eccentric goalkeepers so we'll see how he fares on the pitch in our pre-season friendlies.

Youth Intake

great stuff, we get two players rated 5* in two positions that are fairly problematic for the club: left wb/fb and cm/am. Also, both have decent physical stats for their age and that should facilitate their introduction in the first team. What is definitely worrying is the personalities we've got this year, as our best three prospects have some appalling traits there. We don't have great tutoring options in the squad, so we'll see how they develop, but I don't like that our overall determination in the squad keeps getting lower and lower because of stuff like this.

Constantin Ivan                                                                                                    Ciprian Kereszy

the Nation's progress in the last few years has been absolutely sensational. Liga I has jumped up the rankings and is now placed 12th in the European Rankings, just above the Scottish Ladbrokes Championship and the Austrian Premier division. Hopefully we can keep going this way :)

we've made a big step up in our finances this year. some new sponsorship deals and a really good TV deal pushed our balance to 1.2 M, almost twice higher than it's ever been before.

Summary

Overall, a great season. We did slip up a few disappointing performances here and there, but that is only normal, due to the average young squad we have at the moment. We have some great prospects maturing well and the addition of some better coaching staff should further increase that. I'll probably stick to our trademark 3-5-2 for the next season as well, as there's no reason to change yet, even though I have to admit, I'm craving for some new tactical experiments :) I'm tempted to be optimistic enough to hope for a top half of the table finish next year, however I will keep that thought hidden deep and quiet from the incisive eyes of karma :D

Great intake, no Andone, but picking up two handy players with a lot of potential and fill in key holes in the squad, excellent.

aye, that's how I like to look at it. On the long run I'll be looking for a new, more determined HOYD, though...

the perks of having a 'shut up or you'll be fined', 'get on with it', high level of discipline bad*ss managemet style: Stefan asked for a new contract and when I started negotiating he instantly threw a 'non-negotiable' 200k minimum release clause at me. See, now, sadly, I don't do this kind of thing so no new contract for him. He then became unhappy, came in for a chat, sat down, got told to p*** off and everything was fine again :D
