I've been very pleased with Liam Agnew (center mid).  Pretty well-rounded guy, could probably play most central midfield roles pretty well.  Bit on the expensive side with his contract though.

Also expecting Liam Coogans and Jordan Millar to be useful, though a few of my coaches knock Coogans' consistency slightly (also, Millar cost me like 8k).

Zavon Hines and Lee Cook are players that are doing well for my Barrow AFC team. Lionel Stone was a great addition too.  A good 9 points clear at the top of the conference.  I also got Ngoo but he's being kept our by Harrison.

Yes Zavon Hines is a good one, also on a free at the start is Channing Cambell-Young, i signed him for my dagenham save and had to fend of the likes of Crewe. A very good defender who i'm sure i will get some good cash for later. Also have a look at Luke Booker

There are some real quality players in the Conference North/South - below are a few:

Nicky Shorey (D/WBL, Hungerford, 35) - available on a free, still high quality, may not sign unless you are a top Conference National club though
Josh Rees (MRC, Chelmsford, 22) - classy midfield playmaker, easily good enough for most CN clubs and maybe some L2
Andrew Burns (DR, Tamworth, 22) - good full back with potential to improve
Josh Gillies (A/MRLC, Darlington, 26) - absolute class, probably the best attacking player outside the top handful in the CN
Craig Westcarr (AMRC/ST, Alfreton, 31) - veteran target man
Stephen Jordan (DLC, Chorley, 34) - former Man CIty man, still very good
Daniel Akindayini (AMR/ST, Margate, 20) - raw but promising target man
Eliot Richards (AMR/ST, WSM, 24) - great non-league striker, also available on a free
Jordan Parkes (D/M/AMC, Hemel, 26) - goal-scoring mid, dead ball specialist
Dave Tarpey (AMRLC/ST), Maidenhead, 27) - tricky striker/winger
Junior Morias (ST, St Albans, 24) - powerful striker
Kane Ferdinand (DMC, East Thurrock, 23) - really classy midfield general, young enough to still improve
Audrius Laucys (DRC, Concord, 19) - a classy Lithuanian, perhaps slightly too small as a centre half though
Dan Harding (D/WBL, Whitehawk, 32) - has played for half the Championship, still quality

Whatever happened to Kane Ferdinand as I thought he was a good player a few years a go.

was at dagenham & redbridge last year and was so poor, and when he played looked like he couldn't care less

Former Portsmouth youth player Fahad Rwakarambwe is a good free transfer option for any side in the CN/S. Excellent physicals, big presence (191cm/87kg) and has 8-10 for most technical and mental attributes. Only 19 so plenty of room for improvement, and can play DMC, MC and AMC effectively.

Another decent attacking option on a free is former Walsall youngster Levi Rowley, also just 19 and able to play MC, AMC and ST.

SIgned a free agent left winger called Matty Robson. Not as much pace as i'd like but gets decent reviews from the assistant.

He plays for Shildon in Northern league

CityAndColour - will you be doing a Conference National/North/South guide this year? The last one was brilliant.

Nah - I skipped it last year as it was a lot of effort and it died out after a few months, doubt I will do it again.

That's understandable. Deciding on starting either a Truro City save or dafuge's challenge. Conf North/South saves is basically all I do now.

Yeah I have started with Hungerford Town, who currently have former Reading stars Nicky Shorey and James Harper playing for them.

Players signed:

Corby Moore (free transfer, £550 pw) - playing him as a CM(a) and he has been electric, with six goals in nine starts.

Fahad Rwakarambwe  (free transfer, £375 pw) - playing him as a shadow striker. He is not entirely suited to the role with poor finishing but he bullies his way into being effective.

Connor McLaren (free transfer, non-contract) - former Millwall youngster, can play both wingback spots which is valuable as I play 3-5-2.

Osei Sankofa (free transfer, non-contract) - veteran utility defender, good squad player.

Reiss Greenidge (free transfer from Ebbsfleet, £350 pw)  - young left-sided centre half, has been disappointing so far but only 20.

Wes Parker (season loan from Wealdstone, £50 pw wage contribution) - a veteran centre half and leader.

I don't have a screenshot, but the French DC Steven Paulle appears open for moves to lower league. He went on trial with me at FC United, but wouldn't sign anything other than full time, which I wasn't allowed to offer.

Looks a cracking player for lower leagues but i can't get him to sign for Ebbsfleet.

Here are the player i signed for my save with Stocport County:

- Jacob Evans (Free agent) : Good young midfielder

- Curtis Strong (Free agent) : Decent left wing back

- Sam Madeley (500€ from FC United) : Great AF. Scored 30 goals and 13 assists in 40 games

- Ian Mcloughlin (Free agent) : Top keeper for this level

- Robbie McDaid (Free agen) : Good forward

- Paul Turnbull (Loan from borrow) : Good AP or CM

Don't know how he is this year but Fabio Saraiva was outstanding at that level and higher for me last year even though he doesn't improve or even look that good

Just signed him on loan at Hungerford - he still has the same excellent technical attributes - 12 corners, 10 crossing, 15 free kicks, 12 technique, 15 flair.

Just signed for York, although not sure if that will make it into the release. He signed for Championship side Burton in my save so you've done well to get him at Stockport.

It's a little bit off-piste, but how is Jamey Osborne looking on this version? He was a cracking signing for the lower leagues last year and was on trial at Crewe this season IIRC.

Starts at Solihull and is earning rave reviews in real life. Looks decent in game too.

That's good to hear, he was part of my midfield in my Salford City save last year and become a Legend within a couple of seasons. Him alongside Andi Thanoj were pretty handy.

How is Thanoj looking?

Last year he was at isthmian south level, this year he is conf national so he might be a lot better in attributes. He was the assist king for me in midfield and averaged about 7.5-8.0 in conf and L2

I've actually started using him as a target man (s) with some success. I have noticed on this year's version that forwards on support roles don't seem to get picked up when they drop deeper, so he is able to pick up long balls, turn and either play a runner in or look to shoot himself. He is also reasonably tall (183cm) and has 11 for jumping reach so he is not completely outclassed aerially.

For you guys who normally manage in the conference, what sort of thing are you looking for in a promotion-winning player/team?

I usually manage in the Premier League/Championship, but this year I decided to start unemployed with zero reputation. I've just been given the job of steering Wrexham out of the relegation zone, but I'm finding it pretty hard to gauge who's a good player and who isn't. The stats are (obviously) quite a lot lower than they are in the Champions League spots.

Any advice much appreciated :)
