It is interesting seeing different international tournament winners early on.

The only thing that was true to form was England losing on penalties.

Good idea.  What is your PC spec out of curiosity?  I have an overclocked i5-6400 (to 3.5ghz but going to try further) with 16GB of RAM, and am considering trying this out although maybe without the edited leagues.

Thanks Crispypaul, I don't know which specs matter most but sure, I have an Intel Core i7 6700k overclocked to 4.7ghz with 16GB of RAM with a Corsair H110i GTX Extreme Water Cooler, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB graphics card, Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard and a Samsung 500GB 850 Evo SSD Hard Drive with a Seagate 2TB (Hybrid 8GB SSD) Secondary Hard Drive, hopefully that's what you're looking for? :D

Happy with that start, we went strikerless for the first two games of the season and we thrashed fellow second division newbies Mdina in their own back yard! I decided to stick with strikerless against Siggiewi but we could only manage a draw, now that our only striker is back from injury I'm going to go back to the 4-2-3-1 I was using. We also saw another freak goal against Mdina.

Ah, this has gone to pot, just the one point from a possible 9 sends us perilously close to the relegation zone, our only saving grace is that we have a game or two in hand on the teams around us. We went back to the 4-2-3-1 so maybe that's why we're so poor, maybe we should go back to strikerless? Our only victory of the month came in the FA Trophy where two late goals from Uwadia dispatched First Division side Kirkop Utd.

Yep, most definitely a proper PC.

I thought so. I've always used laptops so I've needed to aim high for FM reasons. Got a new one a couple of months ago which is actually a thinkpad (as most modern laptops are a bit flimsy) but I paid for 3.1Ghz and a lot of RAM, and I'm only using it for FM the speed is much better than anything I've had before (despite the fact that I expected it to be similar to this one). It's only slightly on the slow and ambitious side (by my standards) with all out-of-the-box leagues and even then it's just about fine with it on FM11. 4Ghz or above sounds like heaven to me!

My previous computer was a 3.3Ghz I think and before that I was using laptops and their processors were always below the minimum needed for FM, I think back in FM12 or 13 I was using a 1.7GHz laptop or something like that so this really is going to be the pinnacle for me :D

We reverted back to strikerless and on the whole results are a hell of a lot more promising, we're the highest scorers in the league and we've moved up to 6th although there is a small gap opening up between us and the promotion spots and it doesn't help that almost very team above us has a game in hand.

If anyone's wondering then here's the formation that seems to be working for me:

Well this is something I've not experienced before, we have up to 5 games in hand but we're in the relegation zone AND we have the best goal difference in the entire league, truly strange. We finally crashed out of the FA Trophy but it looks a lot more one-sided than it actually was, we had a player sent off after just 12 minutes and scored the first goal as well, it's just a shame that their fitness prevailed in the end.

I was very prepared to leave at the end of this season due to the inconsistency but an end of season rise in form, partly perhaps to the tactical shakeup has made me reconsider and now unless I get an offer from a club or my contract doesn't get renewed I'll be staying to try and push for promotion next season.

This is the tactic used for the last few games of the season, yes it's lopsided and yes there's a lot of instructions but by god it's worked so far! (watch it fail miserably next season)

Just saw your PC specs at the top of the page, that thing is a beast!  With a clock speed like that FM seasons must be a breeze

Keep up the good work in Malta! Hopefully this save reaches the heights of the San Marino one.

Thanks Adelaidean :D Well for now I can just about get through a season per day but that's very likely to slow down soon!

I'm hoping this will be my last save until FM17 comes out :)

That's more like it, we have a game in hand and are just two points behind the top three, the only negative to take from the month is that in both the games against Marsaxlokk and Zabbar SP we've needed very late goals to snatch a point.

Hopefully you can still do it with all the frustrations you've already endured this season.

Hopefully, right now I'm saying to myself that if we don't go up then I'm leaving and if we go up then I'm staying and will see if there's much of a jump up in quality.

Yes! We're so close now, our next game will be the decider as we face Marsaxlokk away from home, if they win then they're the champions simple as that but for now we're still in with a shot and the way things stand, even if Mdina and Rabat won their game in hand then we'd still be in 2nd with two games left.

Well we completely blew the chance to be champions but on the bright side we're going up and have been promoted into the Maltese First Division for next season which will be interesting to see the gulf since last years Second Division champions Luqa have gotten relegated straight back down to the Second Division again. Of course if a bigger club comes knocking then I'll more than likely be interested in that as well! Also note that Birzebbuga are our bogey team, they finished one spot above relegation and yet beat us 5-0 and 4-0. Almost one quarter of their goals came against us.

Well done on another promotion, man.

Well done on the promotion, kind of surreal to see such a low pace to a save of yours.

Thanks both of you :) I don't think I've had a save pace this slow in a very long time!

Pre-Season 2018/19

3a93c56c9a8ca47a21e2434228792164.png

We started off well then a slight blip and then we did well again, we started off against smaller teams then the last four friendlies were against teams we'd face during the season.

The board want us to avoid relegation and the media predict we'll finish in 12th, the last relegation place.

We've been incredibly unlucky, against Rabat in the FA Trophy we were down to 10 men in just 5 minutes and lost just 1-0 and then against Mdina we were down to 10 men after 28 minutes...then we had 2 players brought off injured against Melita.

We're still fighting and pushing but we're not really getting anywhere, next up we face Zebbug Rangers away from home, they've lost 9 of their last 10 games but if they beat us then we're bottom of the table with 5 games remaining. My job security is still stable however.
