You know how the saying goes: Goals win games, Clean Sheets win titles. Well done to Portugal as I've said werent great to watch but negotiated the knockout rounds perfectly credit to their manager.

Biggest shame tonight was Ronaldo going off injured so early.

Gignac coming on and leaving Martial on the bench so long was a big mistake by Deschamps, should have either kept Giroud on or put Martial on for him. I was not impressed with Gignac that shot he hit the post should have been a goal. It looked to me like Deschamps was hoping for penalties and was going to throw on Yohann Cabaye to take one but Portugal's goal ruined his plan.

Fully deserved win. Best team of the tournament won the trophy.

You mean the side that didn't win a single game (games won in extra time/pens don't count by FIFA rules for rankings etc) until the semi-finals?

Lets not get carried away here.

I am glad Portugal won but a team like Germany would have hit Portugal for 4 or 5 tonight.

Terrible. 3rd place should not equal a bloody knockout stage, yet alone a trophy!

Sums up everything to do with euro 2016. Farce.

Bet you'd have been happy to see England finish 3rd in their group & go on to lift the trophy? So

Captain showing leadership.

What a **** Ronaldo is :(

Just saying, he did essentially take charge of the team for extra time. He did the team talks, he was spending the most time barking instructions on the touchline. The actual manager wasn't nearly as involved.

Probably means the side that didn't lose a single game in the whole tournament.

It's sid. He has a very simplistic and binary thought process.

Don't forget this is a guy who said Wawrinka was every bit as good as Murray...just because he'd won the same amount of grand slams. That's gone out the window today, of course.

It's Sid, he always backs the winner & knew they were destined to be winners from the start.

What does that have to do with it being a terrible format?

If you are not illiteral you should try to read the rules of European championship. Fifa rankings don't affect the places of this tournament. 90mins is also a ********.

TBH I do think that if Ronaldo hadn't gotten injured, then France would have won. Ronaldo being injured but encouraging them from the touchline galvanised the team and gave them more energy. They still played dirty (Moutinho trying to goad Matuidi into a red card and Eder winning a free kick by handling the ball and blaming the French defender) but I doubt they'd've had the same drive if Ronaldo was still fit and playing.

Would they? Germany played worse teams than Portugal and only scored 1 or 0 goals.

Think a lot of teams would do well to remember football isn't about possession and being "comfortable". It's about not conceding not and scoring when you get a chance.

Germany, France, Spain etc (the favourites) seemed to have forgotten this.

Think it's time to just retire International Football as a concept. It's just getting worse every tournament now.
I would usually have disagreed with this type of comment...but after this tournament I'm actually thinking the same.

Aahahahha

And it goes on! even after Portugal crowned as champions. Every single team would smash Portugal. Incredible! ahahahahahaha
