georginho_juventusygr
Good performance by Italy.
EnterUsernameHere
Italy have completely outplayed and outsmarted Spain 100%. That needs to be the last game Silva and Cesc play for Spain, both are finished. Del Bosque likewise.
jonwackers
still don't understand how Isco and Mata were not selected Taking an injured Silva in their place to boot.
Boltman
Well this Spain side aren't quite as tedious to watch as previous iterations, but still, good riddance. Horribly one-dimensional. Great performance by Italy and great to see a team so obviously enjoying themselves.
craigcwwe
Excellent performance and result for Italy, if not for DDG they would have scored 4-5 today. Confirmation for Spain that they need change, both in the dugout and on the pitch.
mrw072
I think Spain have been trading on past successes and are very much in need of big changes. I only saw a small part of the game, but they looked like a team of statues at times. No one seemed to be fighting for the ball. Whereas the Italians, especially Eder, seemed to be giving it a go. I didn't see the whole game, but that's the impression I got.
RBKalle
I have to admit I probably have underestimated Conte's management skills... Italy have a rather mediocre side in midfield and attack, but they've been instructed to play in the only logical and productive way, even outplaying both Belgium and Spain, two much stronger sides on paper. Kudos to Conte and to the players... As an extra bonus, maybe tiki-taka's time is up and direct football is ready to make a comeback?
Matthew Le God
As an extra bonus, maybe tiki-taka's time is up and direct football is ready to make a comeback? I think it would be harsh to call Conte's style "up and direct football", they weren't doing aimless hoofs forward.
georginho_juventusygr
Direct football isn't aimless forward hoofing. (Probably only in England. ) Conte's style is direct: when you get the ball, directly think about how to bring it forward.
scott MUFC
so perfect for long ball Chelsea then
mrw072
I think Conte could be a revelation in England. As to me he plays quite an English style of football. What impresses me about Italy is that they keep on battling till the end rather than just sit on a lead. I've been quite impressed with them, and think they have a definite chance against Germany. Should be a great game!
scott MUFC
Germany will beat them, Spain was easy to defend against, Italians only real quality lay there.
mrw072
I'm not so sure Germany will win. I'd make them favourites. But I think Pelle and Eder will cause the German defence problems. I'm not totally convinced by the German defence. I think if Italy score first they'll hold on to the lead, and get through.
Ty
I think it would be harsh to call Conte's style "up and direct football", they weren't doing aimless hoofs forward. Nobody called it 'up and direct football' He said mayb tiki-taka's time is UP and DIRECT football is ready to make a come back. Direct doesn't mean hoof. Astafjevs
Germany haven't ever beaten us in a tournament. I was at the game, and the German fans there wanted Spain to win so badly
Sid1984
The Italians play an attractive direct style of football. Good to see them outclass Spain in every department.
Baptista_8
100%.That needs to be the last game Silva and Cesc play for Spain, both are finished. Del Bosque likewise. You are hilarious Silva is unbelievable.
EnterUsernameHere
You are hilarious Silva is unbelievable. He was. He had a very, very poor season for City though and carried that on for Spain. I was a huge fan of him but I think he's been destroyed by injuries, just looks so leggy now.
Rio_V
Well, that was unexpected and fantastic. Conte with the master class!
