What is the least amount of goals you've conceded on FM16?

Recommended Posts

What's the lowest amount of goals you have conceded in a season this year?

Enjoying the game but getting a bit tired of conceding from crosses and generally silly goals. Has anyone here truly mastered the game and built a solid defensive strategy? What's your record?

Look forward to hearing some of your numbers :)

66 - and somehow still managed to finish 3rd. You're not alone on the "dodgy defence" though.. no matter how I play or which players I use, I can never seem to keep a clean sheet - I think I kept 6 all season out of 55 games, most of my games finish as a 2-1 or a 3-2 win - the United Fergie way ;)

I managed to win the league with Everton after only conceding around 20 goals (I forget the exact number). I was in the top 5 for scoring too. Defending is not so hard I find, you have to remember that the defensive shape you have is what you set on the tactics screen. Then you can modify it with roles and duties for the players.

I play 4-1-4-1, which most people would think of as defensive. But I have the team set up so that when I am in possession my players are in a hybrid 4-2-3-1 setup (or even 3-5-2).

21/22 Season first year in prem 49 conceded 58 scored in 38 league games finished 4th with 64 points

22/23 - 30 against / 63 scored / 77 points / 4th position

23/24 - 29 ag / 62 scored / 76 points / 3rd pos

24/25 - 13 ag / 88 scored / 104 points / 1st pos

25/26 - 22 ag / 92 scored / 93 points / 1st pos

The last two seasons i have played 4-1-1-3-1 on counter attack/highly structured which may seem a bit bizarre but the mentality defensively is spot on and i often see it trigger counters. The combinations of PPM's, Player and team instructions really work well. For instance my two central defenders and the DLP-D in the DM spot all sit back the DM intercepts everything that's too short or slots in as a centre back if the ball goes over the top down the channels and a central defender goes with the attacker. The full backs are on attack duty and make late breaks forwards when we have the ball or charge back forming an effective back 5 with the DM when we lose it. The other 5 players all chase and try win the ball back when its lost.

Attacking wise my AML/AMR sit narrow inside their opposition full backs, when my FB-a has the ball and has got beyond his midfield/AML/R marker with a late run it gives their full back the problem of closing him down to stop a cross or sticking with the man hes marking, i often see a cross go in or a nice ball inside to my AML/R if the defender bites and goes to tackle my full back often this gives him a shooting chance or a chance to square to play in the striker or AMC who now is free because a central defender comes across to tackle.

It took me 8 seasons to evolve to this formation, and i have no doubt that anyone with patience and thought can evolve all kinds of systems with the right players, PPM's, training, scouting and staff to achieve similar results.

37 goals in 46 (national league prem). Expected to finish 19th so to concede so few was a great feeling, best defence in the league by 11 goals. Goalkeeper and one of my centre backs being ever present(including to the fourth round of the fa cup and semis of the fa trophy) was probably the biggest help.

4-1-2-2-1 formation(451 a DM, 2 CM and AMR/AML). Limited full back on the right hand side and either Limited again or full Back(Attack) on the left depending on rotation. Either Defensive midfielder, Ball winning or Deep lying playmaker in the DM roles- deep lying and advanced playmaker just ahead.

However, our attack wasn't as good and we had the 19th best in the league.

conceded 16 in the first 35 games of the Vanarama North with Stockport, playing Mourinho style football. We won the league about 4-5 games before the end of the season so i rotated and we ended up conceding about 24 in the 42 games i think in the end

9 goals against after 40 Jupiler League (the Belgian league) matches (30 regular games plus 10 championship group matches). A few of them were quite silly though.
