Player Roles and Part of Role PI's

Recommended Posts

Why can't we modify this "part of role" instructions? While I do understant why they are there, I do not understant why we can't customize them...I doubt a RL manager can't tell his BWM to easy off the tackles when he is allready booked...It drives me crazy...

I agree, its really annoying.

I'm coming from FM13, where we had roles and sliders. While we picked the roles for players, we could still adjust their slider settings to truly adapt the role to the player and situation.

There is nothing at all like that now.

So it means that player is no more BWM ,right? So basically the manager tell his player to change his role from BWM to Defensive Midfield or CM with def duty?

BWM, DM and CM are different roles, and they act different on the field. There are difference in mentality, passing, tackling, pressing, position on the picth etc. between this roles. If I asked for a BWM it means I want a BWM cuz I like how it plays and how it fits into my tactics and I am pretty sure that a BWM who is asked to ease the tackles is still a BWM.

And how is your answer even relevant when we can add PI's to roles? Doesn't adding PI's change the role? What's a CM with def duty that is asked to tackle harder than? After your logic, a BWM, right?

In my oppinion the Part of Role PI's should be guidelines. They should be there activated by default and they should be visibile as PI's, but also we should be able to modify them, or some of them. Not being alowed to ask my player to not tackle is idk...you name it... It's a nightmare to ask an average aggresive player to play as a BWM, it's a red card fest.

But the entire point of a BWM is to chase the ball and get stuck in. It's his sole purpose.

If you want your BWM to ease off tackles then you don't want a BWM.

Yeah, it's not complicated. If your BWM is picking up cards, which he will, then change his Role. Some instructions are hard coded into some Roles because they are the essence of the Role (crossing in wingers, for example ). Sometimes people just seem to want to moan about the Tactics Creator just for the sake of it.

I understand the roles have some set duties to them, but I do miss some things, like being able to instruct a F9 to Run Wide with ball.

These are what I was trying to say. Maybe my English is too bad :D

As far as I understand it, that's what the "general roles" are for. Using PI, you can probably create any "specific" role just by using a blank "DM" or "CM" and form him to your wishes. If you tell your DM to tackle more, close down more, etc., you'll basically end up with a BWM. If you choose a BWM, you don't have to finetune anymore, it's all there.

Plus, I am pretty sure that players in general become more cautious once they are booked already.

This.

If you want your DM to play as a BWM but without the tackle harder PI, just apply the BWM/D PI's to the DM/D but without the tackle harder one. Hardly rocket science.

Easiest way to know this is to go into the TC, select a BWM either D or S and change the role to something else DM / CM. You'll see that hardly anything changes at all, other than the closing down and hard tackling.

Turning a DM into a BWM is one of the most simple changes to make.

I'm nearly 100% certain that the BWM does not have any hardcoded behaviour in the ME.

It would be interesting to know if ANY specialist player has any hardcoded behaviour in the ME, or if you can make a perfect copy out of any role by just using the generalist role.

Just half back and playmakers and the target man. They all have hard-coded behaviors that you can't recreate from TI/PI's.

The only roles that are essentially blank are the CM support, CM Auto and Full back auto. But with the auto roles you dont really have full control over the mentality as its through the team instructions.

Every other role has instructions locked in or locked out. Also some roles attract the ball more than other like the playmaker/targetman and it seems to me the DLF (at least when i use a DLF it seems the ball gets hoofed up to him more often), which we may not want.

So we cannot make that specific role we want like we could in past FM games, which to me is disappointing.

I used to lower the dribbling of my CFs as my striker wasnt a great dribbler but fit well into the CF role. Small things like that that can make a huge difference.

I get that they want roles to be important.....but why cant we make our own roles? How do you think other roles came about? Managers and players experiment with instructions....

Edit: and of course the prominent role suitability meter which i just ignore, can really affect people wanting to use certain roles but theres a UI function saying its bad. Dont like that feature.
