Some players such as Wayne Rooney, Diego Costa, Harry Kane and Santi Cazorla instantly go abroad, but most hang around to see what will emerge from the chaos. A new slimmer Premier League comes into existence, featuring 16 brand new clubs. Managers use the Fantasy Draft Mode to form their squads from the Premiership players who are still around. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, Eder Alvarez Balanta, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric are intrigued by the project, and sign for Imaginary EPL clubs. The managers are a mix of FM veterans and those who are completely new to the game with no exposure to prevailing wisdom (such as gotta-have-2-holding-midfielders-in-your-4231-Denmark). How much will that matter? We're going to find out. They tell me who they want to pick from their 24 man squads, give me their formation, and describe how they want their team to play, and I run it through the FM16 match engine. Each week, key highlights of 2 matches will be shown on 'Game Of The 24 Hour Period', plus all of the goals from the remaining games. It's a 30 game season, and only one manager can prevail...
