Whats The Difference between FM15 and FM16

Recommended Posts

I have recently been given FM 15 as a present by mistake. Is it really worth me paying full price for FM 16?

What is the difference between the two? After all you can get "updates" to put the right players in the right teams and teams in the right leagues for the new season!

This is probably a good port of call first off:

http://www.footballmanager.com/games/football-manager-2016/key-features

That will give you some key features of whats new and if any of them take your fancy, then maybe getting FM16 is the way to go.

Personally I find it alot slicker, feels quicker to me (using same setup and PC as i did in FM15). I also notice alot more information to hand without having to go dig for it, which is nice.

Maybe run with FM15 for a couple of months, get settled into it and then pickup FM16 if it goes in a sale? I mean FM15 is still a good game and as you say, you can at least get updated databases if that helps your immersion.

The underlying fact though is that the game always evolves somehow with each iteration and as such, yes FM16 is the better game (to me). It has its bugs and quirks, but they will get ironed out and some already have been.

Im sure some people use the new features more than me and can advise if they are worth the investment in the new game.

Download the demo and see for yourself. It's free, up to date, and will give you a better idea of what it contains than reading a feature list.

thanks for the reply but I thought about this and then realized that since I haven't played FM15 I would not be able to compare it... and members here are the experts :)

I am still playing FM14

Possibly stay with FM14 if you're enjoying your current save until after the winter transfer window patch then buy it and get 2 years worth of improvements in one, relatively cheap hit.

So many new features (give your manager a bizarre-looking face ffs), so little improvement in the experience of playing football matches

Other than the improved ME, AI decision making, tactical setups and team selection being better and graphical improvements, of course.

Honestly? I would say keep the FM15 you were gifted and play that until FM17 comes out in a year.

Based on my impressions so far, I wouldn't have bought FM16 if I had to pay for it...

Honestly? I would never recommend FM15 because for me it was the worst ever. Just felt random to me with too many strange and not believable things happening on the pitch. Also too many shots and goals. The feedback for Fm16 was better when the beta was available, the me in the release seems to have some flaws now, but overall i looked at different forums and the vast majority still prefers FM16 over FM15.

It's almost like "which game is better" is completely subjective and down to personal preference...

It seems to me that the game has some changes to tactics that catches people (including myself) completely by surprise.

Attacking football comes with massive risk elements, to the point I feel like the other team gets a downright buff in ability if your team is playing attacking. Play a standard mentality (And remember your on pitch roles can change standard to attacking if you have to many attack roles, another massive change that is a surprise.) and everything is cool, my defenders kill though ball or the other player is offside. Change one support role to attacking, flipping your balanced on pitch roles and suddenly the other side is no longer offside and your defenders doesn't catch though balls, sure I'm also scoring goals like crazy, where the team is much more hippie like with a balanced setup. Another element of FM16 attacking football is that your players is more aggressive, leading to the massive problems people have with cards.

Maybe it's a good thing<tm>, I don't really know real world football, to know if this make the simulation better, but changing things without properly educating us about it, no wonder people is unhappy and confused.

For me FM16 is so much better. Whichever you prefer, I think it's being a bit dishonest to say there aren't big differences between the two. They're like chalk and cheese. I never got on with 15 at all, but I'm loving 16 so much. That would hardly be the case if they were identical. All the small improvements and tweaks to make the game more user-friendly have added up to make a big difference and for me a much better game.

Try the demo for each (if you haven't already used the code for FM15) that way if you want 16 you can still maybe sell 15 for a couple of quid. For me I'd say 16 is the way to go my game-play stats speak volumes - FM13:300+hrs FM14:400+hrs FM15:70hrs FM16:80hrs already. FM16 is a lot more streamlines and intuitive both in terms of UI and game-play.

Playing the demo is still the best advice, along with having a look at the thread bestbrother linked.

Liverpool FC has a top Klopp manager.

;)

And yet they are still only marginally better than crap. Just goes to show even one of the best managers in the world can't save them - short term, anyway. :D

(But seriously, I hope they stick with him...)

Do Center backs stay wide when using half back in FM16 like Barca? Cause they don't in FM15.

Tbh I think you can see.. it's a very subjective matter..

Some say there isn't any difference, others saying one is better than the other..

The advice is definitely try the demo if you aren't sure.. always the best way

opposition teams score from counter attack against attacking team more probably because of leicesters success in the premier league. tbh I think counter attack has radically changed, its now short and fast mixed with balls over the top

Changes to the effectiveness of counter attacks has nothing to do with Leicester, the improvements were added & tested during the summer when everyone thought Leicester were certs to go down.
