Kind of a pre-patch spoiler....Shelvey-Tioté- Anita works a dream. Townsend can't get into team as Sissoko is being a menace on the right, and Ayoze(ST) and Thauvin(AML) are in fine form.

Ninth Season Review

tXiw3uX.png

Great to see our replacement for Ayoze Perez is banging in the goals and getting top goalscorer this season, infact all of the forwards we had in the team had a great goals return for the amount of games that they played in. We had a terrible time with certain players and injuries this season. Our free signing bagged the most assists this season as well as being out for a good 3 month, soon as he was injured our form massively dipped.

Was a decent season up until the last 10 games, we were out in front chasing the title all season up until Christmas. Soon after there were some awful injuries that cut the squad basically in half, which obviously caused our form to drop dramatically... however next season if we keep those injuries away we can easily be looking at a place in the Champions League. The Cups again were a bit of a write off, not getting very good draws... especially with Man City winning the quad this year and Spurs being in the final of both of them didn't help my chances. Glad to be back in the Europa League next season and definitely fancy our chances at winning it.

Transfers in came in early and settled well with the team, especially Kalonji he came in and made that deep CDM role his own and grabbing some fantastic goals throughout the season. Gonzalez was also a magnificent capture for us, a couple of CB's got injured and he filled in fantastically well and probably has the stats to even play that CDM role we've incorporated. Outgoings were basically due to younger/better players in their roles and the game time would be reduced to say the least... got some fantastic money back in for those though.

Best Youth Players (First Team)

Gallagher - Vandecasteele - Gonzàlez - Janela - Beernaert - Kalonji - Mann - Baert - Miguel

Best Youth Prospects

Palmer - Musah - Moeliker - Luna

cannot get ayoze or mitro to score on my save! 12 games 2 goals for ayoze and 9 games and 0 goals for mitro

Play ayoze as a SS behind mitro TM S

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Also if you haven't got the update Demarai Gray is a must buy, brought him on as a sub first game of the season hasn't been out of the team since!

12 games 4 goals and 4 assists, to me that's fairly decent for a young player in the prem

Neither of those roles are actually attacking minded, One of your strikers needs and attack option to be more clinical

@YoungRenzel666 I've used Ayoze as a T(A) up top and he has been excellent. I have to say on a previous ill fated Newcastle save he was very much hit and miss for me, as was Mitrovic. In time I'll likely sell one of the two for the cash and keep the other.

just got an offer for perez for £54M. He has been good, but that is a lot of money an I have barbosa/mitrovic and could buy someone else with that.

what do you think?

I sold him to PSG for £65m after season 2 and I've regretted it ever since. Barbosa has been great though and I also had Zaza who was great

Just had a quick look at Newcastle on the new patch. Mbemba looks like a great cb, Mitro improved mentals, Perez may have been upgraded slightly aswell. 800k transfer budget so sell before buying.

Glad the new patch is out, lost interest in my last save so have been twiddling my thumbs waiting.

Thinking a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, Townsend and Perez wide with Mitro up top, Gini either as the attacking CM or a CAM playmaker. Not sure whether to go Winger/Raumdeuter or two Inside Forwards.

Probably sell Sissoko at the start, use that money to sort out the LB/CB positions.

I don't understand the £800,000 budget when we were in for players at large amounts, I mean i don't think the whole £22m Berahino should be available but £800,000? The Berahino bid went beyond rumours and was made wasn't it?

I'll be working on the new patch and getting stuff sorted for update soon, and will update OPs when I get the time. Hoping I can finally get a Newcastle save going!

Perez upgraded even more? I hope not. He hasn't set the world alight in real life.

I don't remember his stats but i don't thinks it's a massive improvement just a point here and there

Now that the winter transfer patch is out, I am going to start my annual Newcastle United save.

My save will probably be a slow one though because I am going to load every league in every country but I much prefer a more detailed game world than when I load only a few different countries. I'll be trying to sign 16 -18 year olds and try to develop them at the club so they'll become homegrown and of course trying to develop the youngsters already here.

My first priority will be to try and get rid of the deadwood, so Gouffran, Obertan, Marveaux, Cissé, Colback will all be made available for transfer and I'll use any incoming money to try and improve our defence especially centre back and left back.

Mitro's physical stats have taken a hit - natural fitness 4. Unless that is random!

He has had an awful natural fitness from the start of FM16, I actually thought it had gone up from 3 to 4 on this update but it has always been below 5 for me

Be interesting to see how you get on. I am playing a 4231dm and I'm 3 points off top going into the January window. No signed anyone never got a budget increase either as money went into the red.

I've offloaded only obertan and Coloccini so far no interest in anyone else.

Ayoze perez was playing as a ram but was often never in the match. Townsend has been great as a left winger. Sissoko likewise an an inside forward on the right.

Mitrovic or doumbia score goals for fun with a combined 27 half way through the season.

I'm definately gonna start up with Newcastle on the new patch, once my current Wigan game bores me.

Had a great save with them in FM'15, where I made it to both Cup finals in the first season. One question though: How is Shelvey best used? I was thinking CM as Deep-lying playmaker...

I reckon with our troubles and the new patch, NUFC could become a popular save this half of FM16...so will spend the next couple of days sorting out OPs, so anyone who has already started a save on the new patch...any help with signings etc would be excellent.

He's had 4 Natural Fitness since 15.3, Don't know why it's so low either

He's had 4 Natural Fitness since 15.3, Don't know why it's so low either

I think it is because he is often considered to be bulky/overweight when he comes back from pre season and they maybe consider this that he is naturally unfit and has to work hard on that side of his game

However in game it makes him tire quickly, Having seen him regularly he doesn't start and finish all that often so maybe it is right

Just tactics and any transfers, just so I have a few options when it comes to writing that bit

excuse the image sizes

I didnt make any transfers untill summer, I signed Rulli and Zapata as bosmans in january the summer window has been good but ive done a charnley and signed no defenders :(

This is the base tactic I used for the whole season, the only thing that really ever changed was the role of the left attacking midfielder, I wasnt happy with Perez performance for the season. Tried him as a Ram and inside forward on attack.

p><p><img src=[/img]

As you can see I did not buy anyone, finished 4th in the league with a first team of Krul, Jaanmaaaat, Lascelles, Mbemba, Haidara, Tiote, Anita, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Perez and mitrovic.

Defense was poor but quite potent in attack with mitrovic grabbing over 30 goals in the league to claim top scorer.

I've had great success in my Toon save, until I now feel that it's time to end the career and start a new one.

This were my achievements (I'm in 2020/21):

career.png

Speaking of the original players, I have still got:

- Krul as a 2nd keeper (first is Jack Butland, 3rd is clubgrown Fraser Forster, 4th is again clubgrown Jan Alnwick)

- Janmaat as 2nd choice right back, but sometimes I play him as CB (he has always been excellent but then I signed Bellerin from the Gooners...)

- Rolando Aarons as a reserve, purely for clubgrown reasons; he's OK though, usually playing well in domestic cups

- Moussa Sissoko, he's a reserve now but he has always been immense, a real icon of the club; I made him captain in 2016 but then decided to appoint starter Kevin Strootman at some point.

- Mitrovic but he rarely plays, he's a reserve and he has been spending the last three seasons on loan around Europe.

- Adam Armstrong in my U21, I never use him.

Notable sellings include Ayoze Perez to Hoffenheim for £40M and Remy Cabella for the same amount of money to Man City. The funny thing about the latter is that I re-signed him at a bargain price after a couple of season for a bargain price and he ended up being one of my best players until I re-sold him to Southampton fot £20M.

Now I'll probably try to win the Club World Cup and that will be it. I really enjoyed this save and I recommend it to everyone :)

As I wrote, Cabella has been great for me. Thauvin was mediocre the whole first season, so I sold him to Norwich fot £15M and never regretted (he ended up in the Championship with QPR).

After playing one season with NUFC and finishing 4th but with having numerous crash dumps since 16.3 came out, I am going to restart my save but lower the amount of countries and leagues.

I have never had this problem before but since the new patch came out the amount of crashes I've been having is doing my head in, has anyone else had problems when loading all the leagues in every country on 16.3 ?.

I have noticed loads of crashes myself since the new patch. I load well over 100k players and a fair few leagues, gonna start a new one myself and not load as many :(

Finished the 1st season on the new patch, started the game with no summer transfer window so no players were brought in/out. Winter window saw L. Cook join permanently for £11.5m and 2 loan signings of K. Trippier(RB) & Aderllan Santos(CB), Rulli also joins in the summer. Janmatt joined Liverpool for £15m. Riviere also left for £1m to leeds.

Knocked out of the F.A Cup in the 3rd round by Liverpool and knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Barnsley. Finished 5th in the league with 65 points, 1 point behind 4th which went down to the last game. Newcastle, Chelsea & Man Utd battling for 4th place, drew 1-1 with Chelsea who were 6th place on 62 points. Leicester, Stoke & Crystal Palace were relegated.

Perez was the highest Goalscorer (13), Sissoko had the highest Avg rating (7.59), most assists (8) and MOM's(7)
