dafuge
Real Madrid - Liga BBVA- 2049/50 The countdown to the new stadium is getting closer, so I was looking to win as many trophies as possible in my last few years at the club. League Table - we couldn't repeat the unbeaten season of last year. Supercopa - we had no trouble against the unlikely opponents. UEFA Super Cup - we made easy work of Arsenal. FIFA Club World Cup - we made hard work of the final. Copa del Rey - we stormed our way to the final where we thrashed our rivals. UEFA Champions League - we looked so good, but then had a shocker in the worst match possible. Squad - there are a few weaker positions, but I can't really find the players to replace them. Transfers - I got a bit carried away with a youngster, who turned out to be a bit average. Finances - we made a profit, maybe down to the loan restructuring. Key Player Profiles: Giuseppe Rocca - top scorer again, but may switch to the supporting role. Branislav Dikovic - he could be the man to lead the line. Ludovic Marchand - incredible as usual. Sébastien Bailly - I'm still not sure where to play him, but he's great. Ángel Pérez - possibly our best youth product. dafuge
Real Madrid - Liga BBVA- 2050/51 This was our final season in the Bernabéu, so I was hoping to make it a successful one. League Table - we scored an insane number of goals, but still managed a few slip ups. Supercopa - the away win was sweet, even if it was just a friendly. Copa del Rey - Barcelona gave us our biggest test. UEFA Champions League - we had a few shocks but we were so strong at home in the knockout stages. Squad - it is hard to improve this squad. Transfers - not a huge amount of action, just a couple of squad players swapped. Finances - the finances don't look too great. Key Player Profiles: Branislav Dikovic - he's become the main striker. Giuseppe Rocca - playing really well in the supporting role. Ludovic Marchand - immense. Edson - he insisted on leaving, which is a shame. Adrán Merino - our joint most valuable player. jep
Hello Dafuge, awesome career thread and a great read. I was just wondering if you have managed to continue using the same tactical set up and instructions at Madrid and Monaco as you used at Concord and Guimaeres, without constant "tweaking"? I have been a long time believer in players being the biggest influence on a teams performance rather than tactical set ups, and that if you choose a tactical set up and get the best possible players to fit that set up then you can achieve anything, and it looks like that is what you have been doing so well through your career. Also love the rotation you do as well, two good players in each position and rotate based on match fitness which ensures you keep the players happy by giving them games and also means when players do play they are at their best condition and less likely to perform badly or get injured. A sensible template to squad management, great work Dafuge. Looking forward to seeing where you end up next.
dafuge
Hello Dafuge, awesome career thread and a great read. I was just wondering if you have managed to continue using the same tactical set up and instructions at Madrid and Monaco as you used at Concord and Guimaeres, without constant "tweaking"? I've done exactly that. I spent a lot of time tweaking my tactics at Concord to get it playing in a way I was happy with, I don't think I've made a single change since then. As long as the tactics are sensible (so aren't designed just to exploit the match engine) then success can be had just by developing players that fit. dafuge
Real Madrid - Liga BBVA- 2051/52 With Dafuge Arena officially opened, my time at this club is coming to an end. League Table - this was our worst season in a number of years, mostly because we lost a game early on which meant I fielded a number of youngsters. One of the two losses was my last El Clásico, which hurt a bit. Supercopa - this was the first match hosted at Dafuge Arena. UEFA Super Cup - three late goals sealed this one. FIFA Club World Cup - we scored for fun this year. Copa del Rey - the highlight was the comeback at Barcelona. UEFA Champions League - a perfect set of wins. Squad - I'm leaving this squad in great shape, they should be good for years. Transfers - a couple of older players sold in favour of youth products. Finances - a decent profit, thanks to the new stadium. Key Player Profiles: Branislav Dikovic - top scorer again. Giuseppe Rocca - not to far behind. Ludovic Marchand - an amazing player, I'll miss him. Sébastien Bailly - had a superb year. Carlos Alberto Moreno - a great youth product. dafuge
I wanted to manage in Germany, so jumped at the chance to manage the club that turned me down a number of years ago. Club - maybe not as dominant as expected, but still a huge club. Facilities - the Beckenbauer stadium sounds great. Finances - there's money in the bank, which is good news. Squad - there's enough good players here, but I don't have much time to improve it. League Table - for the second time running, I've taken over a club who won the league. The previous manager moved on to manage Germany. I've signed a two year contract and I intend to make this a short stay.

dafuge
How are your old clubs doing? Concord Rangers - have fallen below the conference, last time they were in the conference south was 2042. Hartlepool United - relegated from the conference nation last season, the division they were in when they sacked me. Scunthorpe United - spent most of their time in the conference national. Birmingham City - dropped down to league 1 after a long spell in the championship. Freamunde - since I left they have found themselves up and down between the top two divisions. Guimarães - haven't managed to repeat the title I won with them, but they have plenty of top three finishes. FC Eindhoven - other than two seasons in the league below, they have competed in the top flight. PSV - have added six more league titles since I left. After winning four in a row, they have found themselves in third place. Monaco - added two more titles, but found themselves in third more often. Real Madrid - played 25, won 22, drawn 2 lost 1. No major changes to the squad I left them with.
dafuge
Bayern Munich - Bundesliga - 2052/53 After a long spell at Real Madrid I was looking for a new challenge in a new country. Bayern Munich gave me the chance to carry on at the very top of the game. League Table - I've no idea how we won this, we were terribly inconsistent. DFL-Supercup - this win made me think things were going to be a lot easier than they were. DFB-Pokal - we were flying until we met Freiburg. A home draw would have been nice. UEFA Champions League - it was all about form, and we lost it at the wrong time. Squad - the squad has some great individuals, but the balance is a mess. Transfers - I tried not to make any signings, which was a mistake. By January it was too late to strengthen our weak defence. Finances - I was really worried about the finances, until the £77m came in for winning the league. Key Player Profiles: Mario Ivic - he's a class striker. Simone De Angelis - a player I was interested in at Real Madrid. Sergey Korolev - another player I was looking at. Daniel Frederiksen - a youth player who I nearly signed at Real Madrid. Matthias Altpeter - kicked up a fuss about not playing, but then proved himself. dafuge
Bayern Munich - Bundesliga - 2053/54 Last season we just about won the title, this season I was hoping for a bit more. League Table - this time it wasn't even close as we strolled to victory. DFL-Supercup - we lost out in the season opener. DFB-Pokal - Dortmund gave us our biggest test as we lifted the cup. UEFA Champions League - despite a couple of losses, we made our way to the final. Facing my old club, we lost in heart-breaking fashion. Squad - there's still room for improvement, but this squad is set for great things. Transfers - I made two big signings in defence, but still managed a profit. Finances - loaded. Key Player Profiles: Mario Ivic - despite playing most of the season in the supporting role, he was our top scorer again. Simone De Angelis - I had to fend off bids from Real Madrid. dafuge
West Ham United - Barclays Premier League - 2054/55 After a short but successful time in Germany, I felt I had done all that I could despite losing the Champions League final to my former club Real Madrid. I took the job at West Ham, who's manager left after finishing 2nd after four successive titles. He moved on to my old job at Bayern! League Table - after 12 games were in 11th and I was facing the sack, but a decent result saved me as we improved our form. We threw away 3rd place on the final day, which disappointed the board. Capital One Cup - we had a tough draw and made a mess of it, despite fielding a strong team. FA Cup - the draw was extremely kind to us, but a loss to the league leaders in the final piled the pressure on me. UEFA Champions League - once again, we had great luck in the draws which allowed us to somehow make our way to the final. Days before the final I got this message, so I was fearing the worst. The final was incredibly nerve-racking as we held the lead for so long before conceding a late equaliser which took it to extra time. By this time Real Madrid were well on top, taking the lead and seeing out the remainder of the time to lift the cup for a fifth time in a row. Squad - I've worked really hard to get the balance of the squad right, but there's still work to be done. Transfers - I raised a fair bit of cash through players sales and spent it on two key players. Finances - we made a loss, it could have been a lot worse. Key Player Profiles: Onur Taş - it made a huge difference to have a quality striker already at the club. Christian Ruiz - another superb player already at the club. Luis Pérez - my big money signing. Tonnie van Boekel - a player I was interested in at Madrid. Jean-Claude Martelli - a player I tried to sign a number of times at Madrid. Pompeyboyz
If you do get sacked, will you hang around in England as it is currently the only Nation you have managed in that you have not yet won the top title
dafuge
If you do get sacked, will you hang around in England as it is currently the only Nation you have managed in that you have not yet won the top title I think I'd prefer a move to Italy, but it all depends on which clubs are available. If I'm not sacked, my contract expires at the end of next season so it is likely I'll be looking out for a new club soon anyway.

dafuge
what sort of career has Lorenzo Magraviti had? noticed he has got 114 goals in 114 games for Italy A pretty decent one! His contract was expiring and although he was a really useful player, I just couldn't justify his wages at his age.
dafuge
West Ham United - Barclays Premier League - 2055/56 I finished last season hanging on to my job by a thread, this season it was a challenge just to see out the last year on my contract. League Table - despite losing our first two games 4-0 and 4-1, we hit our stride and strolled to an unlikely league title. Capital One Cup - just like last season, I rested a lot of players in this one. FA Cup - we were unstoppable, which was helped by not getting an away draw. UEFA Champions League - we faced the playoff matches in our dodgy spell, but came through them. From there we went on an incredible run, culminating in the defeat of the monster I created in Madrid. Squad - there's still room for improvement, but there were enough great players here to achieve huge success. Transfers - once again I cut the squad size down and splashed out on a few key signings. Finances - a decent profit. Key Player Profiles: Onur Taş - an incredible season. Christian Ruiz - amazing again. Luis Pérez - my signing of last season really impressed. Alexander Instenberg - a new signing who made a big impression. Jean-Claude Martelli - a brilliant utility player. dafuge
Italy was a country I had been looking forward to managing in, and I finally got a chance with Inter. Unlike my recent previous jobs, I'm taking over midseason so this will be a different type of challenge. Club - the club has a solid history, winning the league title six years ago. Facilities - the facilities badly need updating. Finances - the finances are in reasonable shape. Squad - the squad is far too large, I'm going to try and offload a lot of players. League Table - this is what really interested me about the club, the board would be happy if I avoided relegation. I've only got a contract for another year and a half, so this might be another short stay.

dafuge
Internazionale - Serie A TIM - 2056/57 My final season at West Ham couldn't have gone much better, I avoided the sack and went on to lift the Champions League. After a short spell unemployed, I too the job at Inter part way through the season. League Table - it took a long time to improve on the 19th place I started with, but we had a good run of form at the end of the season. TIM Cup - this wasn't a priority. UEFA Europa League - our superb home form helped us to go all the way and lift the trophy. I believe this puts us in the Champions League next season. Squad - the squad is still a mess, but a number of the older players are due to leave as their contracts expire. Transfers - I cleared out a bit of the deadwood and signed three new midfielders, with a fourth joining at the end of the season. Finances - not great, but we might be able to change that next season. Key Player Profiles: Antonio Di Gianluca - a superb striker. Tom van Schijndel - he was unhappy about not being in the Champions League, but his contract is expiring. Samuele Bonfanti - a solid defensive midfielder. Julien Vigna - a bargain at £2.4m. Stefan Friedemann - another bargain signing at £5.5m.
